The original words at 1:56 were written by Hammerstein just after this one verse instead of “because it’s June” but rather as “on accounta it’s June” referring to the concept of keeping score of the numbers of sheep. Then of course there is the story about how Hammerstein was corrected by someone about the accuracy of the verse since sheep mate in the autumn and winter rather than spring! Anyway….not nitpicking at all about the change in lyric-this was a superbly sung and orchestrated performance, as the whole concert certainly was, and while we’re at it-John Wilson’s replication of the “Carousel Waltz” was near-perfection in every way.

L.ove the Maida Vale singers, and I absolutely adore the John Wilson orchestra. Tried to get tickets for West Side Story this year, but sold out within a few hours. Thought it would be televised but so disappointed it can't be for copyright reasons

Please list the names of the soloists. They are all fantastic!
Except for Kim Crisswell, are the others part of the Maida Vale singers? The first male soloist has a spectacular voice! Who is he? John Wilson, the John Wilson Orchestra and the Maida Vale Singers deserve some very special Grammies for presenting this glorious music and introducing it to younger generations! BRAVO!!!

The BBC Proms Archive lists only the names of Kim Criswell, Sierra Boggess, Julian Ovenden, Anna-Jane Casey and Rod Gilfry, all of whom had important solos or duets to sing. The guy with one line to sing at the start was one of the four Maida Vale Singers who each had mikes at the beginning but who then resumed their places in the chorus once they'd sung their little bits. And yes, all those John Wilson Proms were indeed fantastic!...

Thanks for posting this! Someone else posted this performance but omitted the orchestral sequence for unspecified "UA-cam" reasons (ostensibly because we wouldn't want to see it?). This performance is better than the CD recording, I think.
EDIT: I just realized that you're the same person who uploaded the first video a few years ago. Thanks for uploading this complete version!

Yes, I realized the error of my ways, thanks to the various comments! ... I just felt the dance music went on a bit too long outside of the movie and also wasn't Richard Rodgers at his best. However, my opinion doesn't count at all, so now viewers can hear this number both with and without the dance music sequence!

@@adam28xx Richard Rodgers probably didn't write this dance music! They usually give that off to someone else.

@@thomassimpson8381 ... Interestingly, the Internet Movie Data Base lists a dozen names in the 'Music Department' section, many of which were uncredited. Alfred Newman is one of them, listed as composer, as well as conductor and music director. Richard Rodgers' music was orchestrated by a bunch of several arrangers, including Robert Russell Bennett, Nelson Riddle and John Williams. So you are probably right about the dance music being by someone else, or even more than one person, simply using assorted Rodgers' tunes to make up the entire sequence.

@@adam28xxAlso worthy to note: the same exact dance music was retained for the 1993 London and 1994 Lincoln Center NY revival of “Carousel” but with slightly different orchestrations. The film soundtrack and the John Wilson version heard here are the only recordings of that dance music in the full version on cd recordings. Most other recordings of “Carousel” either feature different dance music or none at all, and certainly the dance in the 1945 original stage production was choreographed by Agnes De Mille with only the ladies and was significantly shorter, but the “Hornpipe” shortly afterwards in the show involved both men and women in a longer dance segment.
