    This 145-horsepower supernaked screamer is a real entertainer on the road. Versatile, fun and very naughty, the Gixxess offers huge value and very sporty performance with Japanese build quality and reliability.

    Great video as always Loz...already have a K6 GSXR 1000 so, after testing four of the top super-nakeds, I bought the S1000r...bloody hell what a bike...a cut above the rest in refinement and accessible performance IMO....stay healthy mate.

    Great vid! I picked up the 2016 and I just can't get enough of this bike. Best bang for your buck; super fun! And yeah, this thing could get you into trouble with Johnny law...Also, I installed a powercommander V and it fully cured the throttle snatch. Bike runs much richer now and is an absolute blast to ride!

    I have got it. Great bike, superior sound for naked bike and stock exhaust. Would never put aftermarket exhaust up. Brutaly fast...down low lack of torque but after revs it it goes wild. Some lack of torque between 5 and 7 krpm but the feeling after is hahahahaha. Everything as supersport. A bit more windy and lower top end ;) For sure the best value for money supernaked. I never regrated.
    In comparison to my mt09 slower until approx 140 kmh but after :D...fz09 is torque monster and who knows how to launch it...oooof god.

    gizmag it would be really interesting to have a comparison of this bike, the new gsx-s750, the mt 09, xsr 900, z900, and the z900rs. I know they aren’t all exactly in the same class, but they are all fun, affordable, and comfortable sport bikes. I am a big fan of more affordable comfy sport bikes that the mt 09 helped to popularize. The retro nakeds also add some variety and a different take on some of these newer naked sport bikes

    • @gizmag
      @gizmag  5 років тому +1

      I haven't ridden all of those, but this Suzuki 1000 is the high speed choice by a mile. For tighter stuff and silly wheelie fun, I'd go the MT09. I hear the z900RS is a terrific all-rounder, but I haven't slung a leg over one.

      I haven't ridden that, sorry. But I don't see it as a competitor at all really. 2cyl vs 4cyl. Euro vs Japanese. Totally different price points and buyer mentality. I might be wrong.

    Great review! How does it compare to something like a BMW S1000R?

    • @gizmag
      @gizmag  7 років тому

      +Matt Quinnell the beemer feels much faster at road speeds, just because the Suzuki is geared so high. It also has a lot more goodies including electronic suspension and cruise control. But it's so much more expensive that I think I'd probably get myself the gixxess. Also, the Suzuki is absolutely next level as a wheelie machine. 😀

  • @theincrediblesulk5543
    @theincrediblesulk5543 8 років тому

    How does this compare to 2012+ Speed Triple?

    • @gizmag
      @gizmag  8 років тому +1

      I own a 2014 Speed Triple R, so I can comment. I'd say the GSXS feels lower and lighter and I reckon it handles better on stock suspension settings. The Speed Trip is better geared for the road with a wider ratio gearbox, and it feels a lot gruntier down low, but the top end of the Suzi absolutely destroys it. Both are superb wheelie bikes, but the Suzuki has to take the cake as the best wheelie bike I've ridden. If I did more track days and fast road rides, I'd want the Suzi, but I don't know how long my license would last...

  • @rufusxaviersarsaparilla8232

  • @ehsan83
    @ehsan83 8 років тому

    so how do you compare this to Super Duke or the S1000R?

    • @gizmag
      @gizmag  8 років тому

      +ehsan83 super duke is totally different, 1300cc twin vs 1000cc i4 and it's ten grand more expensive here. I don't think it's a fair comparison. The BMW is closer. It's bristling with gadgets where the GSXS is pure simplicity. The S1000R is geared much lower and goes like a rocket at lower revs on the sports map, where the Suzuki is smoother and less of a handful. You also get electronic suspension on the Beemer which gives you extra options depending what the road is like. Objectively I think the Beemer has the edge, and you can see where the money goes, but I like the simplicity of the Suzuki.

    • @ehsan83
      @ehsan83 8 років тому

      Price comparision is a good point. Just compared these three bikes for Switzerland. It's not a surprise to see the KTM with 18,000 CHF for what it is.
      However what shocked me is how the BMW (14,300 CHF) is competing with Suzuki (13,675 CHF). It's only 625 CHF more expensive and with all the advantages it has compared to Suzuki specially for the Cruise control and heated grips it's definitely worth buying than the Suzuki. In other words the Suzuki is nice and simple but too expensive for what it is.

    • @gizmag
      @gizmag  8 років тому +1

      +ehsan83 wow. If it's that close I think you've got to go BMW. Here it's 15 grand vs 19.

    • @MPI1000
      @MPI1000 8 років тому

      +ehsan83 I don't think there are very many, if any, S1000Rs sold at base price, tbf. Traction Control isn't even standard equipment...
      To get the TC, cruise control and quickshifter, it's a €1000. (nobody does NOT get this)
      The active suspension, heated grips and LED turn signals is another €1100. (this is arguably optional)

    • @ehsan83
      @ehsan83 8 років тому

      True but again you again more. It's just more up to date. The engine, body work, electronics and styling. Compare this to Suzuki. It's an 11 years old engine ( even if it's very good ) with some very poor design and plastics all around to keep the price low.
      If i want to spend money i would add some more and get the BMW that's fore sure.

    Nice review. But I beg to differ on a couple of points: LOOKS- I'm a proud 1200 Bandit owner; this one looks like a plastic bug. ERGOS- I've sat on this bike a few times and the FOOTPEGS are just too bloody high, (I'm 6 feet tall). My legs would cramp-up badly within an hour. (WHY can't they make adjustable footpegs??) WEATHER PROTECTION- as in: NONE. CARRYING CAPACITY- also, as in: totally NONE
