About a year ago, this was the first song I heard from Home Free. I dove deep into that rabbit hole and they are now my favorite group ever! They are all mega talented and it is obvious they really love singing together and bringing those amazing harmonies.
@LadyJ Williams, I'd recommend starting with Daft Punk. That was the song that started me down their rabbit hole because of how well done the video was! I was looking at the screen saying "Who are these guys???" I wish I could have done a reaction video to it just to see my reaction!!!
That deep bass singer was Tim Faust of Home Free . He collaborated with Peter Hollans on a song, "Misty Mountains, a cover of a song from the Hobbit movie of "Lord of the Rings". It's captivating from beginning to end. Thanks guys!
Not just a bass. Tim is what's known as basso profundo, but the amazing thing about his voice is he can also sing tenor. His vocal range is off the hook!
Some of my favorite reactions to watch are people listening to that final note in the Peter Hollens collaboration - ESPECIALLY from folks who haven't heard Tim Foust before. They're glorious!

On his channel check out his cover of "Blackbird" , of the Beatles. I think he has 7 octaves including falsetto.
This song is over 100 years old and gets covered at least once every generation keeping it fresh in the populations memory. It being used in the movie was simply down to it fitting into the time the movie was set as the oldest known recordings of it are from the 1920's even with the song being in written form since the mid 1910's. When you get a song right it will still sound good generations later.
This song was featured in the movie “O Brother, Where Art Thou”. Dan Teminski (sp?) from Allison Krause and Union Station. You should check them out. They are an amazing bluegrass group!
I thought that was the one they were going to do, so I was really excited. So slightly disappointed it wasn’t. I much prefer the Krause with Tyminski version. Though this version was interesting.

Having a true Profundo Bass is a group - let alone one with a 5 Octave range is a real help to any band; they are all excellent singers - but I love the way Tim finishes this solo lines in what sounds like a real deep bass, then immediately after he goes off camera he drops down at least another octave and that is still not in his real sub woofer range! There are UA-cam video where he has blown sub woofer and the notes are more felt then heard!
When I looked up some of his other songs I was quite disappointed to hear him singing in the tenor range! I mean there a quite a few excellent tenors but that Profundo Bass...WOW. The Misty Mountains Cold though...that last note doesn't even sound like it could be coming from a human. Chills.
@@burrichgrrl57 I think Tim really likes to play. His range is something like 5 octaves and he very much doesn't want to ONLY sing basso profundo. And now that they have Adam Chance in the group, they have him to carry the bass line anytime that Tim is singing lead. He even goes falsetto sometimes. Have you heard Tim and Austin doing "My Maria"? For low low low, perhaps "Brothers in Arms".

Tim Foust (Home Free) is one of three a capella singers who can sing amazingly low notes (they don't always sing a capella, but are quite good at it when they do.) The other two are Geoff Castellucci (of VoicePlay) and Avi Kaplan (formerly of Pentatonix.) You should react to "Sixteen Tons" (cover by Geoff Castelluci) and "Ring Of Fire" (cover by Home Free, with both Tim Foust AND Avi Kaplan.)
Or try his version of Elvis Presley's Way Down and Ghost Riders in the Sky. Both video play off that Geoff's name keeps getting misspelled or mispronounced with either the name tags or the names you'll find in the posts.
Bluegrass is the heavy metal of country music. The harmonies, the instruments, the story telling. It's all amazing! "Orange Blossom Special" "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" "Fox On The Run" Those are just a few. J. D. Crowe and the New South do awesome versions of all of the songs listed above. I love seeing someone's first reaction to Home Free! They are the only country a capella group out there...but they do much more than country. If you want to get an idea of what they do, absolutely check out their covers of Boys II Men "End of the Road", "The Butts Remix", "Hillbilly Bone",and "My Church". They also do the most amazing rendition of "How Geeat Thou Art". If you like beatboxing, their beatboxer, Adam Rupp is a 2 time National champion beatboxer and you can check out the video "Adam Rupp Drum Solo" from one of their live concerts. There are many, many more Home Free songs/videos...some covers and some original songs... Way too many to mention. But I promise you that you will not be disappointed!! They always deliver... I'm still blown away after years of listening to them. I cant wait to see you react to them more so I am subbing right now! Great Reaction!
A teacher that still enjoys learning things and feels like we are all family is a great thing to be. O Brother...is a Coen bros. telling of the Odyssey with Sirens luring men and a giant Cyclops. It's amazing and the music and humor are first rate.
It is pretty easy to fall for this group as they are so talented! Each of them has their own unique beautiful voice but when you put them together along with Adam their beatboxer the sky is the limit! Great music really is timeless! You should check out Home Free's cover of End of the Road by Boyz 2 Men, you will not be disappointed!
I think y'all would love their cover of Love Train by the O'Jays. Not only is that an amazing song, but the group incorporated their fans into the video. It's so much fun!
This is MY first time hearing Home Free, and they're great. But let's not short-change traditional bluegrass. To me, watching a Bluegrass band play takes it to the next level as much as watching an orchestra kicks classic music up a notch.
What's awesome about Home Free is they are not afraid to take another artist's success and totally Make It Their Own ! Can't out do these e boys with this one. I never get tired of hearing it done this way! Classy everyone of them.
I love how you're bouncing all over the place until Tim hit you with the bass solo, and you just STOPPED. LOL You would probably love the Butts Remix, Hillbilly Bone, Ring of Fire, Helplessly Hoping, and after all of those and a few more, Mayday. But don't do Mayday until you have a grasp on their roles and ranges within the group, trust me on this. Please go down the Home Free rabbit hole, the Home Fries will follow!
I used this song in both my mother's (2004) and my son's (2007) funerals. I had to listen to it 34 times before I could without crying. Suggestions Home Free: "Ring of Fire", "When a Man Loves a Woman" Bee Gees: "I Surrender", " One" The Bangles: " Walk Like an Egyptian"........ (Fun)
"We need more Bluegrass!" This is a universal truth. Everybody needs more Bluegrass in their lives. You want to try some amazing bluegrass, try "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" by Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs. Its an instrumental only, but its one of those pure energy songs that you cannot help but feel better about everything after listening to it.
May I ask your opinion, sir? I am a big fan of the music of Ricky Skaggs and his proficiency with so many instruments. Anyway, you strike me as someone with more knowledge throughout artists of the genre, so what is your opinion of Ricky Skaggs' music?
Welcome to the "Home Fries"! Their catalog of songs is extensive. As you mentioned, there were no instruments in this. The harmonica was Adam Rupp, and the "jaw harp" was Adam Chance. At the very end, you can see Chance (people just call him by his last name, to avoid confusion) doing the jaw harp sounds. For a look at their fun side, I would recommend "Quarantine", "Butts Remix", and "All About That Bass". Tim also collaborated with Voiceplay (along with MANY other a capella artists) on "Just Sing". Tim, Avi Kaplan (Pentatonix), and Geoff Castellucci (Voiceplay) all have amazing bass voices. Home Free, and Voiceplay actually competed against each other on "The Sing-Off". Home Free won, but Voiceplay is still amazing.
A more recent very funny video where the music does not suffer at all is Brother. The guys' costumes show their interests in RL. Adam, the wizard/mage is a D&D master; Chance loves Star Wars and has his own helmet.
AMBER & JAY. It has been over 7 months since y’all reacted to Home Free!!!!!!🤨🤨🤨 Please check out Peter Hollins & Home Free’s cover of U2’s - "I still haven't found what I'm looking for". I guarantee this will make y’all smile😁😁😁
(Apologies in advance for how long this will be....) YES!!! My favorite reactor couple has discovered my absolute favorite acapella group!! Home Free started out here in my state of Minnesota, and they are truly phenomenal. As others have said, they are all acapella; everything you hear, everything, is their voices. (NOTE: I strongly encourage you to listen to them with earbuds or headphones, to pick up all the little and low things they do.) The group: *Rob Lundquist (far left): Smooooth tenor vocals and a constant source of humor. *Adam Chance (left, back row): The other Adam, who goes by Chance to avoid confusion. Great baritone/bass voice who takes over on bass when Tim takes the lead. *Austin Brown (center): High soaring tenor vocals who pulls out some awesome yodels every once in a while. *Adam Rupp (right, back row): The walking percussion machine. Drums, harmonica, castanets....he does it all. Pretty sure he's not human. *Tim Foust (far right): The dragon. Has an insane range, and his lowest bass notes come from the mines of Moria. I have SO much of their music to recommend to you, since everything they do is gold, and in multiple genres too, not just country-flavored. Some of my favorites: "How Great Thou Art" and "Helplessly Hoping" (sheer vocal perfection), "Ring of Fire" and "Folsom Prison Blues" (for more of Tim's insane low range and Adam's "harmonica"), "All About That Bass" and "The Butts Medley" (for their hilariously goofy side), "American Pie" and "Workin' For a Livin' " (for excellent covers of two rock classics), and my favorite Home Free song, "Do You Hear What I Hear?" Go nuts!!! Oh, and MORE CHICAGO!!!! :) -Todd
Thanks! Love the connection to Dad. Another great is Ricky Skaggs "Country Boy". The video is cool. Shot in NY City streets. Skaggs began pickin with Mandolin, I believe, so watch his RIGHT hand on the acoustic guitar! Most watch the left hand sliding the neck but as a picker he has a couple picks, thumb & another finger plus he's singing not totally focused on instrument. Thanks for all the smiles kids, California Love

Kentucky is wrote all over that song, lol stamped with the words "Kentucky Strong"! Funny just like heavily strong coffee is strong and being especially strong in the South". As far as suggestions go, I would say three songs come to mind, "Blue Moon of Kentucky" and do listen to more than just Bill Monroe singing it. "Rocky Top", and then this next song has, as often with Old Country and Old Bluegrass are, they're both tightly intertwined, the song is, "In the Pines". Lastly, this I have to talk of, a Kentucky Man, extremely talented and music of many types. Do listen to him singing "Man of Constant Sorrow". You can take the man out of Kentucky, but you cannot take Kentucky out of the man! This includes in his talk and largely in his singing! Mr. Dwight Yoakum, I love everything that he's ever done! I will edit this, cause there's a particular album that he made that is so much as if made long, long back of Old Country/Old Bluegrass. It just has that old time sound to it! I will have to find that for those interested. I particularly love listening to it and Bluegrass in general, plus really Old Country, when taking road trips throughout any region in Southern States, where there's hills and hollers having tall trees, pines and rocky outcropping, with hills near to being mountain sized! It just calls out to listen to music such as Bluegrass!
O Brother Where Art Thou is an awesome movie. It is based on Homer’s Odyssey. For me, I was a bit confused the first time I watched it but I figured it out the second time and really loved it.

Home Free is the real deal! All five guys are super talented vocalists, and they sing songs from several genres. You'll love "Blue Ain't Your Color", "How Great Thou Art", "Can't Stop The Feeling" and "Children, Go Where I Send Thee" featuring Kenny Rogers.
Tim Foust (Home Free) is one of three a capella singers who can sing amazingly low notes (they don't always sing a capella, but are quite good at it when they do.) The other two are Geoff Castellucci (of VoicePlay) and Avi Kaplan (formerly of Pentatonix.)
You should react to "Sixteen Tons" (cover by Geoff Castelluci) and "Ring Of Fire" (cover by Home Free, with both Tim Foust AND Avi Kaplan.)
Geoff is my favorite!! Oogie Boogie Song kixks!!!
"Orange Blossom Special"
"Swing Low, Sweet Chariot"
"Fox On The Run"
Those are just a few. J. D. Crowe and the New South do awesome versions of all of the songs listed above.
Now, if you liked the guy with that rock bottom DEEP voice, check out Josh Turner singing on "Long Black Train "
Anything that reminds us of our daddy’s is always welcome. Mine was Rod Stewart. Every time he was in town for a concert dad bought a grip of ticket for whom ever ❤️
I am wearing out my remote, rolling it back to hear the bass singer, over and over!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!!!
Thank you!
This is better than the original! I have the Soundtrack from "O, Brother, Where Art Thou".
Bless you!!!
Oh, Brother where Art Thou - fell in love with Soggy Bottom Boys!
I am an old metal head musician with a serious Bluegrass addiction! Thank you for reacting to this old bluegrass tune! Thank you so much for this Amber....mama hat taste and done good
I was just introduced to this song about a month ago....and I love it! I'm so glad Amber has taken you way out of your comfort zone. Edit here: Foggy Mountain Breakdown.
Out of my comfort zone because when the song first started I didn’t know what was about to happen
@@RobSquadReactions I think I did the same thing. My daughter turned me on to this song.....she's very country and me being an old rock/hippie chick was scratching my head at first. Amazing, amazing song!
@@CharCanuck14 Well, deep in your soul, you know Rock came from Bluegrass just as much as the more claimed roots...
A.BER YOU WILL GO CRAZY listening to Home Free -------RING OF FIRE ! Best ever
This reaction is perhaps one of my absolute favorites by the crew, so fun.
Had to come back and say I about fell out of my chair laughing when Amber said it’s a good thing you got her 🙋🏻♀️
😂😂
It’s facts she’s out of my league
hellp, my loves......this metalhead old. lady LOVES THIS!!!!!
LOVE YOU GUYS!!!
Oh Yes I Love that movie too . The cover to the Misty Mountains they do is AMAZING!!!!
So excited to see a newbie see Home Free, then when they realize that it is an all vocal group.
THE best ever of this old song EVER. This group is absolutely incredible!
You need to do more Home Free and also Voiceplay!! They will blow you away!!
Thanks guys. Never heard them before but Ill be checkin' out Home Free now.
Love home free there’s no other group like them. Absolutely pure God given talent.❤️
I think y'all would love their cover of Love Train by the O'Jays. Not only is that an amazing song, but the group incorporated their fans into the video. It's so much fun!
Home Free is absolute FIRE!!! Consider yourselves inducted into the Home Free Fan Club and you are now officially known as "Home Fries!!!"
Next Home Free......End of the Road cover from Boyz to men!!! It's amazing!!!!
We will definitely have to check that out
@@RobSquadReactions you won't be disappointed!!!
@@RobSquadReactions you'll be floored, GUARANTEED
Was just going to request this and then I saw this......
Welcome to Home Free! Home Fries from around the world will agree, you must listen to their cover of End Of The Road by Boyz 2 Men.
I just listened to the Home Free / Oak Ridge Boys song and HAD to find more from Home Free! They are phenomenal!! Holy WOW!!
I never heard this group before, I enjoyed it just as much as the movie.
You're now officially a Home Fry, aka Home Free Fan, Welcome aboard! Oh that reminds me "Love Train" by the O Jay's is another good one that they do.
This is MY first time hearing Home Free, and they're great. But let's not short-change traditional bluegrass. To me, watching a Bluegrass band play takes it to the next level as much as watching an orchestra kicks classic music up a notch.
I feel like Amber’s parents both had amazing ear for music.
What's awesome about Home Free is they are not afraid to take another artist's success and totally Make It Their Own !
Can't out do these e boys with this one. I never get tired of hearing it done this way! Classy everyone of them.
Wow, I never heard that version before, gonna go check this group out.
Welcome to the acapella rabbit hole!
Next you need to react to "Ring of Fire" and "Butts Remix"
This was Amazing!!
Yessss! Ring of fire, featuring Avi Kaplan of Pentatonix. Soo .. .double the bass??...yes please!
I agree!!
Ring of fire is sizzlin.
If u think that Tim Faust is low, watch this one, Geoff Castelucci doing Tennessee Ernie Ford's 16 Tons!! The man is INSANELY LOW!!!!
Home free is awesome. I got to see them live back in 2019. Any song you choose to react to will be lit. New to the channel. Loved the reaction..
We are definitely going to be reacting to some more home free they were outstanding
@@RobSquadReactions How Great Thou Art is a must, has left many people in tears from it's shear beauty
I used this song in both my mother's (2004) and my son's (2007) funerals.
I had to listen to it 34 times before I could without crying.
Suggestions
Home Free:
"Ring of Fire", "When a Man Loves a Woman"
Bee Gees:
"I Surrender", " One"
The Bangles:
" Walk Like an Egyptian"........ (Fun)
Joy is how you will feel after all Home Free music!
Bluegrass - very cool. Or a mix of country and bluegrass - Dolly Parton !
I will definitely check her out that’s a name I have heard before
Yes! Jolene, Coat of Many Colors, so many great Dolly songs!
Listen to Jolene by just her first, then her collab with Pentatonix
"We need more Bluegrass!"
This is a universal truth.
Better yet find the video with Lester Flatt, Steve Martin (yes the comedian that did King Tut), and about 8 other banjo ist and guitarists.
@@CameronCajun Ricky skaggs is brilliant at bluegrass always has been.
I love bluegrass! I would suggest Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver doing Blue Train.
@@Texashog11 Steve and his band play at the clubs in Asheville NC pretty regularly. Vocalist is usually Edie Brickell.
It has been over 7 months since y’all reacted to Home Free!!!!!!🤨🤨🤨
Please check out Peter Hollins & Home Free’s cover of U2’s - "I still haven't found what I'm looking for". Y’all love choirs & this song features their fans singing the background vocals. This video was made during the peak of COVID, so the video is all filmed from their homes. I guarantee this will make y’all smile😁😁😁
Jordan lol. “Babe…..hold up! What you got me into?! This goes hard!!!”
Glad you liked Home Free! They have many great songs. They’re also funny guys. For a change of pace, check out The Butts Remix.
This song touches your heart. Your reactions are great. ❤
(Apologies in advance for how long this will be....)
YES!!! My favorite reactor couple has discovered my absolute favorite acapella group!! Home Free started out here in my state of Minnesota, and they are truly phenomenal. As others have said, they are all acapella; everything you hear, everything, is their voices. (NOTE: I strongly encourage you to listen to them with earbuds or headphones, to pick up all the little and low things they do.) The group:
*Rob Lundquist (far left): Smooooth tenor vocals and a constant source of humor.
-Todd
There's drums! Not accapella.
@ 4:12...Rob is just blown away...LOVE IT!!!!
If you dig bluegrass, try "Will the Circle be Unbroken"
It'll make you cry and smile at fond memories.......
We will definitely give it a listen thank you so much for the suggestion Victor
Home Free! Yes! This is the first of theirs that I ever heard, too, and I was Home Fried at first sight. I so hope you do more of them. Their cover of Ring of Fire is another favorite I commented about on a Johnny Cash video you did. 'Mayday' is another. You really can't miss with anything Home Free does :~)
Love it, Home Free is taking up a lot of my music daily diet
When a man loves a woman will blow your mind, totally great vocals
T shirt ideas...
“I’m Shook”
And “ I love it” with a picture of your beautiful wife!!
I’d buy them and support this channel. You guys are my favorite!!
I live in Kentucky. We are the bluegrass state thanks for the love 💘
Definitely gave us Kentucky or West Virginia type vibes
Adam Rupp, their best boxer is a human instrument machine!!
AWESOME MOVIE FULL OF TOTALLY AWESOME MUSIC! Love - Going Down To The River To Pray
Home Free is amazing so many exceptional covers Folsom Prison Blues , When a Man Loves a Woman, End of The Road (boyz to men) so good
"When you say nothing at all" Alison Krause and Union Station...
O Brother Where Art Thou is an awesome movie. It is based on Homer’s Odyssey. For me, I was a bit confused the first time I watched it but I figured it out the second time and really loved it.
This song actually predates "bluegrass" by many years.
Hi so glad to enjoy with uns! glad to enjoy the family thing with uns with music Doni, Tennessee
Home free - End of the Road ! Awesome
Welcome to the amazing world of modern Acapella! Home Free is masterfull with their arrangements and harmonies. They tackle multiple genres and often humor is a staple in their music. Please try Country Fried Pop 17 artists 15 songs in a Mashup. Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Eminem, and lots more. It's a ton of fun. New sub and really enjoy your reactions.
