Helped a buddy with that exact problem. Had to drill out incrementally the gas port. He had a fixed gas block. He used a standard buffer spring and H1 buffer. The gas block gas port was significantly larger that the port in the barrel. We drilled it out to cycle subs with suppressor on. It would only cycle subs about 90% without suppressor, but he was ok with that.
I have a similar 16" build except with a pistol length gas system and no suppressor. I've only shot it with supersonic handloads and it functions 100% with M80 bullets, standard recoil spring, and lightest buffer. I'll stay with supersonic unless I get a can. 300 BLK is growing on me. I now use KAW dimple tools on all builds and they are very precise and easy to use. I'll never install a gas block again without using one. Good vid as usual!
I have the same barrel and had no issues with reliability or function. I used a standard gas block, I've always had reliability issues and leakage with adjustable gas blocks in the past. I also use an H1 buffer and a standard carbine spring. The only potential issue I can see is that my chamber is either cut very tight or the angle of the shoulder of the chamber is off a bit because after just a few shots the cartridge in the chamber becomes very difficult to extract manually with the charging handle. I can extract it every time manually but it takes much more force than with a newly cleaned chamber. I also only shoot super sonic ammunition. Mostly 110 grain Vmax and mostly AAC's loading of it.
I was hoping to to be able to use the standard spring in mine so I could swap the lower onto different uppers . I assume it has to do with the efficiency of the bolt carrier group, I've wanted to buy a set of gauges for testing them but haven't gotten around to it.
Those Aero Adj gas blocks are solid. I have one in a 16' 556 snd it shoots pillow soft suppressed now. They sell them with different sizes in the gas block.
The Speer 130gr .308 varmint bullets are fantastic in 300 blackout. They mushroom like a gold dot at the slower velocities 2500fps and lower and they break apart very well on steel
I have had to cut the buffer spring length down until the action starts locking the bolt back. Use a grinder to cut it and then feather the end of the spring. The other option is to open up the gas port on the barrel.
@@emmw7794 Yeah, why do they even make them in the longer system anymore? I think we've (2A world) figured out that 300 Blk is under-gassed at anything longer than pistol. And that was years ago.
Check your magazines I love .300BLK hits like a Mack truck out of a 16” barrel! 110VMAX running 2,400fps and over 1,400ft/lbs of energy it will knock a deer on its socks with proper shot placement and is great for home/farm/estate defense! It does things with .30 cal supers the pistol setups could only dream of(at 2,100fps is where rifle like wounds and secondary wound cavities come into play). 120gr Barnes TSX and SIG monolithic are devestating on game out of a platform as such with deadly accuracy! It can push subs to their limit with power and range! It has more power up close and half the drop of an 8” .300BLK with subs at 100 to 150 yards with subsonic munition which is great for slinging huge hunks of 208-300gr lead quietly and accurately wether hunting close range, plinking or defense! It can do everything better than .556 and 7.62x39 because of a better ballistic coefficient and great 21st century technology my barrel gets 1MOA or sub MOA accuracy! It’s also great at range if you learn it’s hold overs! It is so diverse with supersonic to subsonic rounds and it’s pricey but the only rifle you will need inside of .300yards for EVERYRTHING with practice! I have found magazines are critical to reliable feeding and I run nothing but metal GI magazines NO Pmags(had nothing but problems as you showed) SWAP OUT THE MAGAZINE! Run a standard buffer and spring make sure the spring is lubed up well and you are using quality parts and it will run supers and subs suppressed or with a muzzle device/flash hider NO PROBLEM! .300BLK is a wonder round! Having a platform that can use its benefits is the true mission once you have that the sky is the limit and it’s a handloaders dream 👍✅
.300 blk needs a pistol length gas setup or it will not have enough gas for subsonics. I have a 16" barrel with a pistol length gas block and it runs everything.
Originally this was going to be a pistol build but then the ATF decided to play stupid games so this is what I decided on for supper sonic rounds. Eventually I'll make a shorty just for subs.
@@thelonggunner762 like I said, I use a 16” barrel but got a barrel with the pistol length gas block. Mine is actually a cheap one from Anderson arms. They make one of the few 16” pistol gas barrels. 99$ and runs everything. Superlative AGB on it.
the gas block is the most nerve racking part of the build. Also this video proves what I don’t like pinning my gas blocks. Unless you make sure you tested all very well before you commit. Don’t even dimple it until you’ve tested it up
I just ordered this exact barrel hoping the extra length would give me better dwell time and gassing. Based on what i have seen with your experience, it appears that i will be disappointed.
The port in the gas tube is slightly bigger than the Faxon gas block port. I have 2 of the Aero adjustable gas blocks and both of them leak a substantial amount of gas pressure. Once it was switched out the gun ran noticeably better. Now that it's thoroughly broken in it runs all the supersonic rounds very reliably. The carbine length gas system Isn't ideal for shooting subsonics, but it does shoot the 220 grain UMC's pretty reliably now. In the future, I'll probably get a shorter barrel and SBR It.
Have you checked if the gas tube hole is as big as the gas port of the barrel and gas block hole, if it is not it will restrict some on the gas getting to the bcg. I also understand that the gas regulating bcg can aid, My 16 and mid length works unsuppressed with suppers and subs and suppressed i have to turn the gas block down. @@thelonggunner762
Nothing wrong with a 16” barrel for subs, just need a pistol length gas system. I have multiple SBR’s in 300 BLK and two rifles. One has a Wilson Combat barrel with pistol length gas, and has never malfunctioned. The other is a Yankee Hill fluted, carbine length and has also never malfunctioned, though I’d tell you pistol gas is absolutely want you want on 300 BLK. Both have an Aero standard gas block. Both are also running standard weight JP Silent Capture Springs.
Someone turned a semi automatic rifle into a single shot! But it sure looks good. From the thirty minutes I saw, junk! This weapon will not fire a full magazine. Back to KP tinker!!!
What definition are you citing? The ATF defines a rifle as having a 16" rifled barrel or longer, and doesn't primarily shoot shotshells. Anything with a stock, and a shorter barrel would be an SBR. Shotguns need an 18" barrel or longer, or they're an SBS. So, if you're making this up, then pardon me, you must be correct.
Just wondering, do you have an adjustable buttstock yet you’re crowding the rifle bending your elbow as far as you can shooting it with the stock collapsed all the way in why?

I have a 16 inch 300 with a pistol gas system . It feeds everything very well . I don't shoot many subs but it's there when I need it .
I’m running a 16” Faxon on my 6 ARC coyote gun. Very accurate with hand loads.

Appreciate the video broski!
TY nice job. Try PSA for cheap range 150g .60 rd bulk and 220 Sub .75 rd . I have a 16in PSA upper works good.
Also use the magpul 300 blackout magazines. They have a bit stronger spring to reliably lift the heavy subsonic rounds for better feeding
I forgot to mention that I was using the 300 blk PMags in the video🤣

Yup, its a Magpul UBR, I only have it set at the second position out. I tend to shoot ARs pretty tight in to keep a small profile for movement.
