I have had this rifle for 2-years now with a little over a thousand rounds now. A simple Romeo/Juliet and a cheap Vortex Venom 1-6x24 from time-to-time have done just fine on it. The only internal change has been a Super 42 with its H2. Puts rounds where they are supposed to go every time, and no malfunctions yet. Built rock solid, people can say what they want about a $500 gun, but shoots the exact same as some big names on my range.

I was always taught to touch my nose to the charging handle for cheek placement. That also allows for the scope to move forward on the rifle, leaving room for your iron sights. So I adjusted my butt based on where my nose comfortably touches the charging handle. No need for tape.

“Budget friendly”. That made me chuckle. That LPVO is more than the rifle, let alone both optics. But I do like it. I only run a flashlight on my builds, as I don’t have a need for IR or a laser. I do really like the goon tape wrap idea for the wires. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that for mine. I snaked tiny zip ties all through my handguards to tuck the light and switch wires down.

There are only a few people who go into the types of situations that SO does. And you might be surprised to learn that they're actually SO. The average joe isn't SO. So why set up a rifle for SO work, when you're never going to do SO work? That said, more power to ya! Spend that dollar on the high speed gear so it can sit comfortably in the safe.

All respect to Jim thank you for your service. I recently purchased a 2.5- 10x40 combo laser red- green all in one unit for my AR platform. Wondering if anyone has any valuable feedback on this set up. It feels a bit heavy but the weight distribution is on the receiver. Any feedback. I’m not an expert just learning from these videos

Cool setup, I liked the tape and the foregrip close enough. However, the LPVO, sitting far back, smells like trouble when you need to access it if a round jam. Sure, everyone has their own way of getting around things. Maybe setting a rifle in a way that is practical for anything and being able to access all necessary parts to avoid weird circumstances. That would work for me.

No disrespect to Mr. Jim, and Thank you for your Service Sir! However for 556 the optimum barrel length is 11.5.” W/ Surefire Type II Suppressor
And everything that Mr. Jim added but I would stick to my Eotech Red Dot. I’m good to 350 yrds w/ it.
Now, for my newest design for a job that we are working on now in a place that requires this exact type of weapon we are using the following version that hasn’t failed in the year we’ve had them in service.
Daniels Defense 300 Blackout I have 7” 1.5 Twist barrel w/ 6” DD 3- prong FH, QD suppressor, Q- LTBTEM (Literally The BEST TRIGGER EVER MADE) Trigger, Surefire Scout light,
ME Myers Mawhal IR & Vis Laser, Eotech Red Dot, Radiant SD Charging Handle, Adam’s Arms Piston Kit, Unrivaled Arms Silent Buffer, Titanium BCG,
    Blue Alph Quick Set Sling,
Dan Def Cowitness Iron Flip up Sights, multi activity switch for Laser & light, DD 45* Ambi Safety, MP Extended Mag Release, DD 6” Free Floating Guard MLoc & Pic combo, Mounted to the Dan Defense Ergo stock are 2- slim-line Tourniquets & one slimline clotting gauze with Velcro straps, all tucked and out of the way, and everything is a light desert / OD Green to blend in the environment these will be used in.
These are purpose built for extreme close combat situations and deadly accurate at 350 yards, used daily in combat situations

I run the same setup except I use a Grippod LE and a red dot with 5x magnifier.
Then again, I’m not typically engaging combatants at 700 meters. I keep my shots to 400. 500+ is what the sniper is for. Save my ammo for things the sniper isn’t set up for

Just for the record your average gun tuber gets more range time than a Navy SEAL. They spend most of their time on tactics, PT, and mission planning. I know they started shooting more but you would be surprised how little they actually shoot.
