    Bought this when I was in GRADE 7 in 2018. After 5 years of flying, it finally gave out, malfunctioning and dumping itself into the Atlantic ocean in spectacular fashion. That drone was an absolute beast, and deserves more love than it gets. It is still one of the most agile non fpv dji drones out there, easily the cleanest looking, and for its time, was peak budget photography. (Just upgraded to a mini 4 pro, thank you spark for getting me into this community :))

    You can use an OTG cable between the controller and the mobile device. By using an OTG cable, the drone's range will be significantly improved, and the live video feed to the mobile device will be smoother.

    I bought the Spark back in early 2018. I remember watching your videos about it before I purchased it. I miss the days of smaller drones that were heavier and flew better in the wind. I loved the features this drone had, from the lights underneath to the charger that would charge all the batteries at the same time! Ahh the memories!

      @Nine_883 Рік тому +7

      Mavic Air version 1 was an incredible technology. The camera was outstanding and I like that one option "Tap to fly". I think it was called that. You just send it out in a direction and then you could just operate the gimbal and the yaw filming everything below without worrying about the direction. No matter how you turned the drone it kept flying to that point that you tapped.

      @@mandofan2616 you can buy drones like that. And you can buy attachments for drones like fishing rigs that you fly a mile from the beach and drop the bait in the deep water. They make all kinds of lights for drones. Or you can build your own drone and put whatever you want on it.

    I still use the Spark and actually love that the arms don’t fold. Less to setup when you want to get up and fly quick. The quick release props are something that isn’t on the mini series why not I’ll never know. I do reach for the spark sometimes when I travel due to its size, ruggedness, and reliability. I own a ton of drones but the spark will always be one of my favorites.

    • @robinwidmer2914
      @robinwidmer2914 10 місяців тому +1

      The mini series has no quick release props because of weight reasons. To get a drone under 250 grams you need to get rid of everything that is not 100% necessary. I think thats also the reason why the mini 3 pro has no landing legs on the front arms unlike the mini 3 wich has them, because of not having the weight of the obstacle sensors…

    My first drone was the DJI Spark back in 2018! I think it is quite a success as it brought a lot of people into the hobby. Even though the range is not great, it isn't foldable, and the flight time is short, it forced us to fly very efficiently and was a lot of fun, paving the way for a future upgrade (Which I did (Mavic 2 Zoom)) - it is so light and easy to set up that I brought it to a lot more places than my M2Z

And it’s still running strong. I’d love to get a newer version this year. One with longer running time with the battery and all. But I’ll always keep the little Spark as my goto. I, like many others, still have and fly the SPARK. All original batteries still work, controller, the app and all. I really like the fact it doesn’t have foldable arms, so much sturdier and still very small. Flying outside never had a complaint of noise with SPARK. Licensed I’ve got no real complaints, it’s still a great old little quality bird. Never tried the hand gestures. Takes great videos and pics, no need for higher specs at the under 1 km range. Wasn’t designed for long trips, great for flying line of sight and getting a bird’s eye view on any nice new place following the new drone rules in Finland. It’s so stable too. Got other drones for other tasks.🙏

    I had the spark with the fly more combo and managed to get almost 3 kilometres, but then I had one of those parabolic reflector kits that gave me a stronger reception. I loved the video quality and photos that it was capable of capturing. Then I got a second hand mavic mini and was impressed at its speed, range and video and photo quality. Then I went to a mini 2 and was super impressed with everything about it. The speed, video quality and photos, plus the range was on incredible, and on one flight I managed to get 5070 metres going from glass house lookout to mount Tibrogargan on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland . Hung around over the mountain for a few minutes before auto returning it. Got back to about 1700 metres from the takeoff point when it decided to auto land , but I pushed it and by about 270 metres to go it was in 0 % battery but still made it back. Then while flying it along a creek I hit a tree branch and it dropped into the creek. I sent it to get fixed and the bill was so much that I could have bought a second hand one, so I didn’t get it back, regrettably. Now I’m paying off a an AVATA, from a friend, he’s not that much of an fpv fan after all. It doesn’t have obstacle avoidance, but it does have those prop guards which makes it so much more reliable as far as going through the bush.

    Thank you for the awesome video. I still have and use my Spark regularly. The app (DJI Go4) works fine for me and use it every time I fly. For the weight (300gms) of the drone you do have to be certified by Transport Canada and the drone has to be registered. Your name, phone number and registration number have to placed on the drone. As for your wi-fi interruptions there is a cable you can hard wire your phone to the controller for a steady signal. DJI discontinued this drone so grab parts while you can. Cheers!

    Kinda neat to see the old stuff working and reliving memories. Keep the series alive.

    I still love my Spark. Granted it is 1080P, works great for UA-cam. I wish it had longer flight time and a 3 axis gimbal. As for interference. Joggers with earbuds will blank it out, especially when they stop to see what you are doing. I'm looking at the mini pro or something like it. Still workers better than both my P2VP.

    I had the park too. As my first drone. My case was the Casey by GoPro with a little modification I got the remote sticks on, drone and 2 extra batteries. Was perfect case and size for my backpack. I never got much more than 8-10 minutes as I would land at 30-35% which is why I moved from spark. It was amazing and as much as the gestures were gimiky I used it a lot and it worked really well. I always wanted the case charger so smart. Love the old tech reviews.

    I totally miss the Spark. Folding props, decent video, LED lights and ability to go far enough that you were seeing a beautiful different aspect of your world. Oh, and I even made a few bucks with it prior to selling for my M2P; which I still earn with today. Damn fine retro review Cap!
