Such a beautiful cockpit, has to be my all time favorite over all the biggest modern commercial jets. 737 has always been my favorite aircraft. It had me at the cockpit. And the at the old flat bottom engines and the look of a falcon at the nose. Has some fighter jet appeals to the cockpit as well. 737 has to be the most versatile aircraft of all time.
What a crazy smooth landing... well done!
Thx Bauer
I like the New York controller that he's so cool and calm during his instructions!!!!
This Captain, use to be a goalkeeper for the Icelandic National Handball Team. Flew me into London on a 767 few years ago
Oh thats really cool to find out. We had him on 3 different occasions that we filmed and I don't believe he ever told our crew...
@@justplanes Hahahaha. That´s nice.
Great video. Excellent job by the pilots, especially how smoothly they handled that last minute runway change. New York Approach rattling off the vectors is music to my ears. Those controllers in New York and Newark are real artists.
Love this very beautiful....Keep up the lovely work Just Planes
I can hear Frankie: "Come fly with me..." with a landing to accompany his smooth style.
Oh, that was a buttery-smooth landing. What skill!!!
Nice new cockpit MAX 👍🏻👍🏻😀
WOW thath approach controller was on fire! Miss those old days when the skies were crowded
Very soon they will be back ;)

GREAT flight! Greased Landing. Hats off to the NY controllers.
Good Afternoon Fantastic Landing & Very Good Job 👍 Thanks

Adding some thrust just before landing to soften the touchdown.. master skills !
That’s actually how NOT to hold the thrust levers..

This is so cool! Thanks for sharing guys. Hope you are my pilot from Washington DC to Reykjavik on October 20th 😁😁👍🏻👍🏻
This video is very close to home to me! It starts out at HANAA intersection, which is just south of Glens Falls, NY which is my hometown and continues over Albany VOR, which is where I live currently. Not that there's a shortage of aircraft in the area, but it was definitely cool to see in a Just Planes video.
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you for the comment!
KSWF which they are over at around 9:17 is Stewart International Airport/Steward Air National Guard base in Newburgh NY just off the intersection of I-84 and I-87.
Lovely video and edit.!
Thanks very much Jim!
Superb landing

Nice headwind you’ve got there,

Now that's how you land a airplane, buttery smooth!
Like for the video, greetings from Montenegro!
My home airport!
Good pizza too
Can see why they needed a late runway change, but it was awesome to see that other plane land ahead of them. I enjoy listening to and watching these pilots as they control this aircraft. Awesome landing that sounds amazing by these awesome pilots. I love the view of the wing during the flight, approach, and landing. I do love the different camera positions as well. Awesome video, I love it. It's great that the 737Maxs are flying again. They had been flying for over a month or 2 now, and they seem to be doing awesome. I've seen some videos from other people, and it was a smooth, quiet flight. I hope it still continues doing great.
Thank you Shannon!
@@justplanes 737MAX ain't safe
@@kirilmihaylov1934 It has had a fix by Boeing, the aircraft is safe for flight.
The runway change kept them from a go around and another tour of New Jersey. They should be happy with that outcome. Some of the busiest airspace there is, and the controllers are perhaps the best there is.
Does anyone know what headphones is captain using? I'm going to be buying new ones and I might consider those. Thank you.
ACAS was the media's new favorite word!!
Darn! Love these videos!!!
Thanks John
Way to kiss that landing!
They should make a video about going through customs at terminal B in Newark, and how much it sucks.
check out the new large displays for the MAX.
Greased that landing!
👮👮👮👮👮👮👮🇹🇨
21:02 runway change. Pilot takes manual control to align prior to ILS change gets traffic alert as he was changing alignment less than 4 minutes before landing!
And Still greased it!
Any good pilot would.
Buttered the landing..
And saved some taxi time as well. With 22L you have to wait until the tower gives the ok to cross 22R.
Dont forget that they are professional,so they are used to do this kind of things everyday
It is normal to sidestep to the parallel runway 4 minutes before landing if the plane in front of you is too close to avoid a go around.
Can someone clarify: the BA 757 Open Skies livery is seen off the right upon touchdown. BA retired all their 757's (wikipedia) by 2010... the Max did not start flying until 2017... so what am I missing?
I think it's F-HAVI which still had BA open skies livery in 2018 which this video is from. All the other open skies 757s were sold on and repainted. It looks to be owned by an American private company. Spotter pics show the BA livery still on it as late as 2019
super smooth beautiful landing ! i do hope they got the issues with te max fixed, it really is a beautiful plane but it has had so many problems
I am flying on the MAX9 in a couple weeks on UAL. I am excited!! Booked my trip that week on it on purpose.
Well, luckily its doesn't went down i guess...

Wow such a soft incredible landing!! No one noticed. Wait... What? We've landed? 👍🏻😎✈️
Can anyone tell me when the controller advise the runway Chance please :D
I guess the Approach controller sequenced them too tight with the traffic ahead of them? Or wrong approach speed or...? Clearly Tower was confused about the fact that they were closing on the guy ahead of them lol
I wouldn’t say this was a late runway change, cause these kind of sidesteps are normal when the plane in front of you is too close, so that you can avoid a go around.
In jfk, it is normal for planes landing on Runway 4R to sidestep to Runway 4L to avoid go arounds.
Never seen a com pilot with a cap on while flying. Good idea
OG pilot
The automated voice was calling it out
All the 737 maci calls the minimums and it even calls out V1
Which headset is he using ? Any idea ?
Lovely video. I know you've done a lot of Air Canada videos and it would be nice if they invite you to a Boeing 737 Max 8 flight from Toronto to St. Vincent Argyle International Airport, our new International Airport. Cheers 🍻
Anyone know the captains headset?
What European airlines operates 737 max in New York??
butter landing...
So she is officially back?
Is it me or did I just see a british airways 757 at 33:37
no, I see it too! It definetly looks like one, but why would there be one at EWR, didn't they retire them?
Did some digging around into this. I suspect it's F-HAVI which is now owned by an American fleet company and recent spotter pics show the BA livery still
Anyone knows why there was no call out when getting to the “minimums”? Like continue or landing or runway in sight?
Maybe different practices between different airlines...? I've seen other videos before where there were no call out at minimums.
I think Icelandair has an SOP whereby once clearance for a visual approach is given, the crew revert to visual call-outs. The MDA(H) that was set during the approach briefing was applicable to RWY 22L, so not really relevant after the side-step anyway.
When was this date etc
shop.justplanes.com/Icelandair-737MAX/p/127530
hopefully no crash any more.
FYI the video is from 2018.
I though this is new after recertification.
@@kerucutgaming2216 I don't think Iceland air are back flying the max yet. But correct me if i'm wrong

Kudos to this Captain and flight crew for choosing to hand fly the airplane from FL 2500 to landing in some of the busiest air space in the country! In this age of advancing automation on flight decks, pilots must maintain their stick and rudder skills and hand fly their aircraft as much as possible within company standards and at appropriate times. There is no U.S. carrier that I'm aware of that would penalize their flight crews for choosing to hand fly their airplane for a portion of the flight, especially take off and landings.
FL2500 is in space!

What does VNAV do again
VNAV stands for Vertical Navigation. It uses vertical profile information provided by the Flight Management Computer in order to meet any pre-programmed altitude and speed constraints.
The captain looks like the captain from Top Gun that was going to make Maverick fly rubber dog shit out of Hong Kong.

Where is the "Late Runway Change"???
21:02, but it is not a late runway change. At airports with parallel runway operations, it is normal to sidestep to a parallel runway if the plane in front of you is too close as this way you can avoid a go-around. They still had at least 4 minutes left before touchdown, and lots of pilots lowering the landing gear before aligning with the runway.
Anyone knows what headset the captain is using
I don't know which ones in this vid but most pilots use Bose proflight aviation headset
@@ethansaviation2672 i have those but caught my attention the neck band, looks like some sony wireless but has a boom mic. Look very comfortable.

Having worked the common IFR room in the 80's, that was not a late rwy change. US controllers move metal, especially in the N.E. Corridor. nice work

Blocking sun glare. Great idea
70/80% of the footage was from behind the pilots so we could see the inputs the pilots were doing (which was great) then they swapped to views from the side windows and missed the landing and from inside the cockpit completely. That was disappointing and spoilt an otherwise excellent video

@@justplanes no I'm a busy man.
Poor briefing technique - is all I can say. I guess this is a product of company SOP’s. Additionally, if already cleared to land on 22L, why accept a clearance to land on another runway? Original clearance was never cancelled and crew weren’t asked if they were able to side-step at that altitude (2500RA). Result - TA from TCAS. Of course, this could be identified as a THREAT in the BRIEFING stage......but hey, the landing was a greaser!
The plane in front of them also landing on Runway 22L was too close in front of them, so the control tower asked them to sidestep to Runway 22R to avoid a go around.
I guess the approach controller is busy and too lazy to use standard phraseology. Really substandard and non approved phraseology he’s using . I’m surprised pilots don’t complain
It's still a killer plane. It already took 600 lives. Next this time, when it takes another 300 lives, the world will say '... they all were asking for it..'
where is the evidence of it being a killer plane. how did it take 600 lives? 346! next this time, when it never takes another 300 lives, the world will say ' they all were not asking for it'
600? Ummm.......
Your 600 number is incorrect... and just for your info, were you aware that the A320 had 17 fatal accidents that killed 1400 people... so should the A320 stop flying as well?
Sorry , not flying in a 737 Max !
