Man! So sorry about your heater problems and the resulting mess. Cleaning all of that soot up will be a big job. However, I loved the update Rob! I remodeled our kitchen 11 years ago when I was 68 and it about killed me. So I feel your pain. Take care brother!
nice layout just be careful with the kerosene heater my dad almost forgot to take the cap off the heater before filling the tank and spilled kerosene all over the place
Hey Buddy. I see you have a gas heater below the layout. Move that heater away from the layout. If not, you will get a hot or warm spot at the layout and your metal track will expand and deform.
I'm glad your house did not burn down but that sucks. All I suck is everywhere but I got a question. The black fabric it's on the layout for the sides. What is it?
Access to hidden trackage, duck-unders, and deep sections of the layout from underneath are easy when you are young. I am 76 now and what was once easy is now a major effort. Just sayin.............
I'm 53, I've planned most of the layout to perform well with me when I'm 70. This small section of "headache" track will not be an issue in the future.
Soot everywhere? That's free weathering! 😉
@@ajkleipass that’s a positive spin on the situation.

@@johnlazar7582 thanks John, glad you had something to watch with your morning coffee.
Ypu can model the steam era now, back then soot was everywhere.
I agree with that statement. LOL
Danger averted! It is a very scary ordeal for sure!.
@@steveprice436 it could have been worse, I’m grateful it wasn’t.
@@hoscalemodeltrains1221 absolutely!
Glad all is well and no major damage was done. Looks like the shop vac is going to be doing overtime duty! Stay safe and warm this week 😊
@@flagman515 me too and thank you.
Hopefully I'm in the area and in a expedite van, love to see this! Eventually when I settle I'm going to build a layout based in Curitiba Brasil.
@@ShawnCalay that’s a cool idea.
Hi Rob& it's is Randy and i like yours video is Cool & Thanks Rob & Friends Randy
@@randydobson1863 thanks my friend.
all that smoke really set the scene for running steam lol
First , I thought you’d started a frying turkey fire😊…still kinda sucks though…that last pour turned out nice…once scenic, reflections gonna be cool…
@@georgiasunbelt those frozen turkey’s oil fires are horrible.
Think of the bright side with all that soot. You got some natural Weathering on your equipment and a dirty river XD
@@DirtyDan490-t2vI agree. I've only ly cleaned the track and roads.

@@norfolksouthern3800 it happens. 🤣😂
Track cleaning. I have found that WD-40 not only cleans track but it also leaves a coating preventing oxidation and improves conductivity.
true but it leaves the rails "slick" and my locomotives lose traction.

@@FostoriaOhiomodelrailroadclub me too, the black fabric is landscaping cloth from Lowe’s.
Locomotives on topo of a heater? Smoke from a heater in the room? Take care my friend, you have a huge investment up there.
that electric heater doesn't get hot on the top, it blows from the bottom, so they are safe and sound.
Who makes the WM GP9? Did you kitbash it?
@@ShawnCalay I believe it’s a Walthers life like kitbash.

Nah we don't need a Gorre and Daphetid 2.0. That would be quite tragic
@@nickb.1095 so true
is that heater meant for indoor use.. that looks very dangerous. please be careful
yes it's an indoor heater, I've been using it for 7 years without issue, this is a first for me.
