I've contacted 3 or 4 dealers and not one is charging a markup, I don't know why everyone keeps saying there is. Now the Type R, every single dealer I've contacted is doing a 5 or 10K markup.
When the first type s models came near the dealers stuck all the options on and charged double for them. ($4000 for copper trims, $1900 for carbon spoiler.) Ended up bumping it to 61k. Now the second run cars are out and they are msrp no dealer add on. Blue one in stock nearby. I think they did that for promo.
Correction. A chassis dyno is not correct. It takes many calculated parameters into account. A dyno is a tuning tool that gives you the best estimate of hp and tq. Unless he pulled the engines and measured at the crank the wheel dyno could easily be off by 10hp.
Here in Vegas, I was able to buy my type a for only 2500 markup, they opted to pay me $250 for rebate check for my registration and added a couple extra weather protection items too, I was looking to get the type R originally and they weren’t budging from a 15k markup, 60k for a Type R or 55k for type S, I went for the ladder
As others have mentioned, dealers will make or break this car. This is a great car but with just a manual offering, the market for it is cut down quite a bit. Then at 65K with markups, there is tough competition from others, not to mention lightly used luxury or performance cars. They're making it so you must really want the car to get it, and that is a recipe for a great, but short lived car when what we want is one that stays for a few generations at least.
For FWD on track, I trail brake to the apex to weight the front tires then get on the gas as soon as I reach a point after the apex where I can accelerate continuously and smoothly without backing off. For discipline, I like to establish an exit RP where I have the throttle pinned.
This is one of the cars I am considering buying for this channel. I am also looking into a GR Corolla. I am also open to getting a cheap used car like an SRT-4 let me know what else I should consider as I grow this channel. Thank you!
