I love my Milwaukee 8. They are becoming rich boy toys.
M8's are awesome engines, single cam, 4 valves per head, not hard to make power from that set up my friend, although hp isn't cheap.
Some of the newer cvo's are beautiful machines, and the m8's are badass engines, 1 cam, 4 valves per head, easy to make power out of these engines Indeed. The thing is You can build out a bike of the same model and eat the cvo for lunch but I Can't wait to see the '23 120th anniversary models bro, I have a 103ho tc, built out pretty good, pushing 120hp 130 ftlbs torque, still reliable enough to ride across the country, it's nuff 4 me, til I win the lottery. You're exactly right, the core customer are upper middle class all the way up to rich yuppies, although we are the ones who kept them in business for 120 years, never the less I'm H.D. for life...always dig the content bro.
I'm more than happy with my 96 inch motor.
Thank you for the video Hollywood.
So many factors.
I know EVO 80 “trick-80” Softail buddy build that smokes everything; even when you think you’re out front, here it comes and gone. He’s rev-limiter bounced the thing since he got it; For almost 100k miles, and just freshened it including painting tins.
Same engine guy set me up with the math/custom heads, and I put together a 88/95ci that I had to grind out the valve covers for the roller rocker/ lift. I did go SS-G, .. anyway, the biggest I’ve run down to date is a new-stock “114”, under 6k rpm (limiter set at 7500), and I doubt it’s done.
I don’t think I’ll learn the M8. I know what I know, it’s cheaper and arguably at-least as good. It helps when you pull the wrench yourself, obviously. The 3-5k parts make a badass bike; likely get you the suspension you want even.
I’ve done Progressive & legends on baggers to date. I’m still out. The legends I got were HD, and I think I fk’d up. Too much/HD? I’ll load it up, girl & trailer, and make a few k miles trip and see next year. The “dirty bagger” I described above, I put 944’s on it, and I’m very impressed. Plates/Screws in lower spine, so it matters. Big difference in $ between the 944 and top end Legends. I might get the top end Progressive for the RoadKing. Oh, and the old Softail has adjustable Progressives under it. Anyone considering or needing their Softail to be a very nice /impressive ride, you won’t be disappointed.
To sum up: all that blabbering over bikes 1/4/-1/2+ the prices into newer, and I’m obviously emotionally attached to the bikes. I don’t lose my shat over a scratch, I can afford more, and increase knowledge already obtained; AND, I have less in 3-4 bikes than the guy with 1 Road Glide/Street Glide, and the Dirty-Bagger probably smokes it till I’m out of 5spd 🤔 I’m not going to spend house money on a truck, car, or bike.
I know some guys that have done M8 builds, up into 140hp. They have had all sorts of drive-line issues over it. Make sure you know what you’re getting into, the costs of the engine build might just end up in costs for other things. “As long as I’m here” has been real for me; and easier/cheaper to spend “..as I’m here”, than later.
I really can’t understand how a new factory motorcycle costs more than a car !
@@insanewheels so true Hollywood. I ordered your book 👍🏻
There isn’t a motor cycle alive, (except maybe an antique), that is worth 44,000 dollars.
I can buy a really nice car for that , shit you can get a nice car for the price of the touring bikes .
People paying 500$ payments is crazy for a bike
CVO’s are produced for those who can afford them and want something different ! Just like a Corvette Z06 is produced for those who can afford them ! No difference! There is a strong demand & market for these types of products! Not everyone is poor !
I own a 22 CVO Road Glide. I was able to pick it up because I traded in my 19 Road Glide and that took the sting of the price off. Yes I had to work up to one as a working class person. So it can be done. But one just cannot jump into one without a small fortune.
@Motorcyclelifenews it handles much better than my 19 Road Glide Special. Now I do put the miles on it. The only thing I hated about the bike is the junk suspension that comes on it. So I upgraded the reat to legend.
i am 61, as a kid, and a young man, i despised harleys. they were not known for being good bikes. you bought it, took it home and worked on it. you went riding, and took tools with you, so you could get home. especially the amf years. so i grew up with honda as my preference. my 1st bike was a 71 honda 350cc sl enduro, my next bike was a honda dream. then in 1988 i bought a1987, 1100cc vtwin 4 speed honda shadow with a tear drop gas tank. yes, the bike harley sued and lost on, sued for the looks and the sound. i still have that bike. but in 2008 i bought my 1st harley, a 1200 custom low sporty. caught hell from other riders, saying i was riding a girls bike. none of those fella's would put their pink slip up in a stop light to stop light race. then in 2012 i bought an 07 softail custom, 96cid 6sp, and i was a bit disappointed. it didnt ride as smooth as i thought it should, and it just didnt get up and go like a thought a 96 in bike should. in 2020 i bought my current bike. a 2012 fatboy 103b in tegila sunrise hd orange. it is one of 600 built in this color. this bike will flat out run. the custom and this fatboy already had the big radius exhaust on them, and the dyna tuner. all 3 harleys were bought at the same used car / motorcycle dealer. there is only one other harley that i am interested in buying. the 2013 hd cvo breakout in gold dust, and marble green. yes, i know it's gaudy, and i never thought i'd see myself on a green bike, but i never thought i'd be riding an orange bike either. here it is christmas day, so enjoy your christmas, and have a great new year.
Here it is I think you're very lucky my favorite color is orange. I have an orange Vesper scooter and orange BSA C15 Starfire and Aztec orange Sportster which looks more like a dark burgundy and orange very disappointing everybody loves the color but me haha I would love to have a big twin in Orange but I would like to have an EVO.
Hollywood - Great channel! Everything you say is 100% spot on!
You just have to decide what you want to do. Do you (a) want to ride a motorcycle, or (b) impress your buddies?
If all you care about is to ride a motorcycle, that's not expensive.
But if you want to impress your buddies, that will always be very expensive, because if it wasn't expensive, then they wouldn't be impressed.
Just think back to your first motorcycle. For most of us that was probably a cheap piece of crap, and yet, that was the bike we enjoyed the most. So if you don't care what others think, then riding is cheap.
But if you do care what others think, then it's expensive. And people care what others thing. Case in point: the most expensive models in the HD lineup happen to be the most popular.
I agree! My first bike was a Yamaha tw200 farm bike and I still miss that thing!
The Road or Street Glide Specials w a M8 114 are the best platform to start at for the price point. Add heated grips and a stereo and you are halfway there , you can do it step by step and not have a huge loan hanging over your head ✌️😜🇺🇸🏴
Hell no. Why spend 40k+ on a 117 with a slightly different paint job when you can go down the street to Indian and get a darkhorse version of whatever bike that comes with a 116 for way less? The CVO’s are very nice but they’re ridiculously overpriced.
The last Ultra Limited CVO that I priced at a dealer was $53,000.00 (new). That was in 2020. I walked in, sat on it, dealt with the salesman... $53K!!! And, if I wanted the 131 engine kit, that was going to be another $6,000.00. That would have put that bike at $59K!
I don't think it's possible to get that bike for $44K.
There are a couple/three Ultra Limited (Electra Glide) (not CVO) bikes on cycletrader priced in the upper $20's and low $30's (new). That's still a good chunk though if a person wants to get it close to a CVO. Another $10K on that puts it in the upper $30's and low $40's. Also, it will probably take more than $10K to get it close to a CVO. Keep in mind, the non-CVO is a 114 motor! Yes, it's only 3 cubes (117) but still, consider the money.
Just today (1-20-2023), I did see one Ultra Limited (not CVO) on cycletrader (2020 / 9,800 miles) that was priced at $36K. That's too much money for that bike. Just as well shop hard for a new one at that money or less.
All those damn bikes are too much money!
Here's another thing to consider - when is the bottom going to fall out? The market is saturated with Harleys.
Great show Hollywood, happy Thursday, and your exactly correct..and as far as the cvo is..damned sweet bike..but you can get the lowrider s with a 117 for a 1/2 the price and will out corner and perform the high end cvo.. my next bike will probably be the a 2021 lowrider s..but I'm like you I love my old harley 2003 100th anniversary lowrider ..I do like the older breakouts though and there older cvo seems like a guy can pick 1 up on the cheaper side as well
I think it is.....I don't like the accessories that came with them except for the rear speakers. I ride solo, so I got an ST Street Glide with the same 117 with performance cams from the factory. I like the solo seat, I still replaced it tho. I changed the rear suspension to SE Ohlins reservoir, Stage II with powervision, Trask Intake, Full Dominion accessories still cheaper than CVO lol. I have better performance, better accessories for my liking and better suspension. ST is the way to go if you want good performance stock and like to change some parts according to your taste. Stay loyal to the brand and ride safe.
Ugh UA-cam is being loca again (not letting people into live chat) found out the other day when this happened it was on UA-cams side with a glicht. Will try back closer to 1700hrs
They do that kooky stuff on UA-cam a lot lately as I took a break because they had the damn closed captioning in Arabic & Chinese 😠😠
It finally let me into chat at like 8 minutes after it started. They are just trying to run people of and make people to use Rumble.
I love my motorcycle 90 percent chrome ten percent performance.
I would never buy a new Harley ever not when I can get a used model for under 5000$. Or get another brand for under 3,000.
I waited to buy one with 2800 miles in immaculate condition 110 CI for a huge discount.
You did it the right way in my honest opinion! More people should go that route💯
@@insanewheels It is a 2012 softail convertible CVO maroon two tone, and I paid $13,500 for it and it had the original $35000 bill of sale in the original owners manual. I wish it was a Road King with dual discs. I couldn't pass up the deal though. It looks brand new.
Yes! It doesn’t get much better than that!💯 That is a killer deal!🔥
gas mileage is suffering. But i found the frames improved at high speeds from my older models. buy used, with all bells and .....
If I were in California or Florida, where you can ride them pretty much all year, yes it would be worth it. In the Midwest? Nope, not to me anyway.
Cvo nice bike pr8ce is insane. I got a 2021 limited only because i got a 2017 fully stocked for 12k got 19.5 on trade
44k? wow it just jumped up to 52K and yes, hell no not worth it.
I HAVE A 2014 CVO BREAKOUT AND A 2017 SOFTAIL DELUXE
BOTH ARE 100% BONE STOCK......THE DELUXE IS FASTER.
SO IS THE CVO WORTH IT ?
WHO KNOWS.....BUY THE BIKE THAT FITS YOU. NOT WHAT SOMEBODY SAYS YOU SHOULD BUY.
You might want to check out the Triumph Rocket 3 put the fairing and bags on . Then ride it and compare the price ,save 15 k and get 170 hp
The new CVOs are not worth it. I love the rumble, feel, and sound of my 15 CVO street glide with its twin cam 110 engine and like having fairing lowers and stretched saddlebags. I also prefer the paint scheme of the 2016 and earlier model CVOs, which is my preference. While I feel the price tag on these new bikes is outrageous, I am sure people thought the same thing back in 2015 when I bought my bike.
50k harley CVO still not as fast as a base Challenger from Indian
🛑🛑 Yeah Right 😂!!!
Obviously you haven’t watched “Bikes and Beards”UA-cam Channel. 🤷♂️
He’s got a Harley Roadking on there with a Harley Crate Motor 131, with a Trask Blower on there getting over 200 HP…blowing Hayabusa’s off the road. 😂👍💯
You might want to check those videos out, before “popping off” 😂.
@@genekelley7579 how long does it last before catastrophic engine failure
🛑🛑 Harley’s today aren’t the bikes they used to be. 😂👍
Those 131’s by themselves are pounding out 150 HP without the Trask Upgrade, and the 131’s come with a factory warranty. 💯👍
I used to be interested in the CVO, i wanted one for 2022 but the way they pass around that 117" M8 its no longer special to me, the CVO should be in a class of its own and not sharing the power train with the ST
Bump up the CVO to a 128 or something and really make it special, that 117 is now just average
Wow nice haircut and trim 😆
I have the 117 in my Low Rider it's a nice motor. The CVO should have a 122 at least.

Hey Hollywood
I Dig The Old School Chopped Out Scooters .
I Only Ride Harley & My
Old Man . I Will Check Out Your Book . Rock On Hollywood 😀
❤ Gabby Gustafsson
I'd rather buy a "regular" Harley, put the price difference in aftermarket parts, and come out with a better bike all around for thousands less than a new CVO.
The paint looks great on the newer bikes but dont last. The are using junk metal and not prepping the metal correctly and in 2 years paint is peeling and rusting
OMG!! are they ripp-offs!!! I bought a Indian Challenger for 24,9 they gave me 2500 off MSRP for repeat customer 1000 off for being a VET and 500 for xtra parts it was $21000 out the door and I have more options than a 55000 CVO!!! And I can smoke that antique technology 117 by 20 bikes!!! All I did is remove the CAT and pipes that’s it!!! For highway riding Harleys not even on my radar!!!!
If they bump up the 23s, might trade my 22 RG Spec, last labor day Milw Harley had 9k off a new CVO LIMITED, but it was yellow
what is a CVO BASE Model?? on a CVO is everything on, you need or you dont need!😉
Only thing like on the cvo is the heated grips that's it
With today's motorcycles being more designed to satisfy government regulations then the customers wishes when Harley finally gives up the ghost then they'll be more of demand for the used bikes that will be more in tune with what the customers wishes. There are almost 8 and 1/2 million Harleys for sale twin cams with their known faults are going for economical prices because the seller and the buyer both know that the bike may be low mileage but they're going to have to replace all the crap Chinese Parts in the motor if they want to have a reliable motor. Norton in England found out the hard way when you put Chief components and expensive assemblies like your transmission when that cheap piece of crap blows up it cost you a hundred times when it's saved you especially in warranty costs and bad feelings from the customer towards you because they're brand new motorcycle exploded three months after they bought it.
Not in my opinion
I’d buy a challenger…….
Why are there Arabic subtitles on your channel, bro?
@@insanewheels Thanks boss!
Lololololol..... no.
Yes it is worth it. In 1980s Ave worker made about 20,000 a yr bike cost for top line Harleys were about 18 to 20 grand. Now I make 50 to 60 grand bikes cost 50 grand. Seems about right. Look at trucks now same shit
🛑🛑 Buying a CVO Harley IS WORTH IT!!! 💯
In the end, if you buy a Harley Ultra Limited; and upgrade the Paint, Motor an d Accessories to a CVO Level Bike….you still have a plain old nice Ultra Limited. 💯
The Vin# on a CVO Bike, says it was a CVO at birth.
The bikes are worth more and you get more for them when you trade them.
The same can’t be said for a Ultra Limited, brought up to a CVO Level. 💯
But if you didn't buy it to resell or trade in and you bought it to ride and keep you would be wasting a ton of money that could make 20 times the bike.
So yea if you're buying to sell or trade in an a couple years buy the cvo.
If you're buying to have a bike to keep. Buy non cvo save 10 12k or more and build a cvo killer.
I sell em and no one will ever convince different
@@motomenace5243
Good Point, however…..
Most people don’t know that a CVO receives a better insurance value, since the bike was worth more at birth from the Vin# stating it was born a CVO bike.
A Standard Harley Vin# states that it was born a Standard Harley, and regardless of upgrades, additions or modifications that have been made to the bike will not matter to the insurance company if that bike is Stolen or Wrecked. 💯
not worth it; and neither is a regular harley new or used
Hell no. CVO is a waste. Screamin eagle performance parts are inferior to most other aftermarket performance parts.
You get a "custom" paint job any prick with a fat wallet can have and a very slightly upgraded infotainment system...yea no
