My nieghbour has a nice Harley and he offered to let me ride it. I said that would be great. I said he could ride with me on my 2017 Triumph Storm. His response, no way im not riding that thing. My Barber bought a Harley, at the time I was riding a 05 Yamaha Road Star. I made a comment about Japanese bikes. His comment," You wouldn't catch me on that Japanese junk". Little did he know, I knew he use to ride a Kawasaki before he bought the Harley. He swallowed the Kool-aide.

I just love sport bikes so HD doesn't really do it for me. If I want a cruiser buy something like Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda, Suzuki much cheaper to purchase yet reliable. My brothers Cruiser is in Shop way to much. He had bought for $44,000.00 and has had in shop about 20 times.

The sportster is my dream bike, have had a Suzuki Boulevard 650cc since early 2020, now I'm looking towards buying either a Honda Shadow 1100 or a sportster 1200, whichever comes first I'm acquiring though and I don't like baggers or bobbers at all, chopper or nothing, that's just me

Dude, I get it! Livestreaming is a workout. Maybe not lifting weights, but juggling on-screen participants, responding to the side chat, keeping the panel focused... I don't know how you do it. I do 3 long-form videos a week...and even THAT is a struggle!

It really does just seem to be a mix of them being waaaaay too expensive for either "what they are" or what young folks are willing to pay, the company refusing to acknowledge that young folks would actually love to buy a bike if they could just afford it without getting into yet MORE debt, the way a lot of the HD lineup has found a specific "look" that became mainstream (when folks think of HD they either think of the almost generic "cruiser" look that many bikes have nowadays or the wild, unique, artistic "American Chopper" look that seems way too rare lately), and I think most importantly the "culture" is perceived completely differently now. People like to talk about the South Park image of the bike riders as "ruffians", but even that is kind of too much credit. The loud sound of a lot of bikes is usually the one thing that most non-riders actually know about bikes, more so than the look or the brands or models or anything else- too many people were shouting in agreement at the episode that depicted the riders as just "dorks with nothing going on who wanted attention". If you don't already have it in your mind, hearing any kind of bike revving next to you on the street or, God forbid, at 11pm on a weeknight down the road next to your apartment complex is going to piss you off..and that's what everyone knows the most about the HD style of bike. When you "start" from that mindset, naturally people are going to gravitate towards the cheaper, quieter bikes that are specifically marketed towards them, that don't give people around the impression that they're just being loud and obnoxious just to annoy everyone in the area. That's not meant as an attack against HD riders, or chopper riders in general- it just seems at the moment like the HD brand is specifically catering to a sense of overpriced nostalgia, like the Gibson of the motorcycle world. Actually a lot of parallels between the two companies and how the customer-base at large sees them.
