QUICHE, COOKED INSIDE AND OUT. The Camp Cook Series #1
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 січ 2016
- When you're on a camping trip or staying in a remote cabin, not everything has to be barbecued or cooked in a frypan. In this video I demonstrate how to cook a quiche by conventional methods and also when camping or in off grid situations. I cook one quiche indoors and the other outside on my gas grill with a Coleman camping oven. Easy to follow recipe.

MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q: How do you have internet at your cabins? A: I have cell service at both cabins but it is spotty due to foliage and cloud cover. I can access the internet from my cabins but have to drive to a local wifi location to upload videos.
Q: How old is Frankie? A: Frankie will be 10 in April of 2018
Q: What video editing software do I use? A: Presently, all I use is Windows Live Movie maker but I’m considering trying imovie, Adobe Elements or SONY VEGAS PRO.
Q: How do you get your water? Did you dig a well? A: Presently, I haul water to the NY cabin but at the NH cabin, I drop a kettle into an old well that was dug by hand by the settlers in the 1700’s.
Q:What is your favorite brand of cast iron cookware? A: I prefer using vintage cast iron. My favorites are BSR and Griswold. If I had to buy new I would buy a Lodge Brand. I plan to purchase this dutch oven in the future:
Q: What do you use for refrigeration? A: We have a small gas refrigerator that we salvaged from an old Shasta camper and a custom icebox that I built into the cabin wall. We make ice on site with a propane freezer.

Q: What do you use for cooking and heating? A: We use a Kitchen Queen 380 for cooking and heating during the winter months but we also have an antique gas stove in the cabin for when we don't need the heat from the KQ.

+Roger Crook Thank you Roger. Welcome to my channel.
Great Recipe! Made it many times since I first saw this video. I cook mine for 55 minutes at 350 degrees. Love you and Laurie and the pups!
I've watched maybe 50 of your videos in the last year. regardless of the content you are inspiring and make me dream big. thank you so much, not for the information and know how but how you let your personality and passion shine through hour videos. very big fan. I personally in the last couple years battled substance abuse and it lead to me living out of my car. many nights i battled depression and loneliness. your videos and personality gave me a time to escape the reality and live a magnificent cabin life and get my mind off the situation i was in. now 3 months sober i still love the journey your videos take me on. sorry for my bad grammer but thank you so much. your truly inspiring. Chris
+Christopher Seabolt Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts Chris. Sounds like you're getting your life back in order and I applaud you. Keep your eye on the prize and best of luck to you.

so happy to see you and Frankie back. :)
Sir I love your videos. I wish you could put one out every day. I have said it before but your series Back to my roots hit me like a brick. I spent part of my childhood in a log cabin on 100acres in northern Louisiana and it was some of the best memories i have as a child. My dad would plant a 2 acre garden with 2 mules (Jack and Jill) pulling a plow. Then he would take the stuff he grew to Mr. Woolies general store and trade it for Flour and sugar and things we couldnt grow. Man I really miss that time in my life. Thanks again for your videos.
+JnL NoLa My Roots series is my favorite as well. When I am done filming that, I will make a full length dvd from may favorite parts of that series. I'll be back in the NH woods in a few months and can't wait.
Looked awesome Boss, this series should take off like crazy! Very well done, and the bbq oven looked like a must have
Love to watch you cook and bake, I believe you could cook on a rock in the sun. ☺
+brenda alexander That's my next trick lol. cheers :-)
👍☺
I love making an Italian style with peppers, onions, mushrooms, slice black olives, sweet Italian sausage chopped pepperoni, little italian blend spice, with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. My kids like a little spaghetti sauce on it. I liked yours though, you cant go wrong with bacon in it!
I've never had a quiche I didn't like.
I love how much enjoyment you get from a job well done with you cullary skills, and how well you explain everything thank you sir for your expertise
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. All the best. :-)
I have a quiche in the oven now. Really enjoyed that video, but also like all your videos. I cook very often, no stranger to the kitchen. Point of this comment is, my daughter, (19), came over and ate and just loved the quiche. So she wanted to know how and I forwarded your video to her. Your helping me to teach her to cook. So, to hell with the trolls, your a good person of character & just so you know, indirectly teaching my daughter to cook. Good tidings to you and God bless you. 😊 thank you!!
God Bless :-)
I've never made quiche, but gona try it now, thanks JC
+Ed Kirkpatrick Enjoy.

Hi, JC. Before I rush over to the kitchen to do some cooking, I just have to say how much I enjoy your videos. I've watched every one of them and have learned and been inspired all along the way. I have a little log cabin in the Colorado mountains and have a renewed interest in spending more time there and doing more projects. Your passion for the simple life is contagious. Thanks so much. All the best to you for 2016 and beyond.

JC I cook in one of those camper ovens also and found that one of the double layer baking sheets on the shelf below where I am cooking helps a lot with keeping it even when baking! The quiche looks good! Making me hungry.....

Great looking pie Boss. Thanks for the comparison cooking. Good notes to have for future oven buying. Cheers
+Joshua Smith I love these pies and they certainly don't last long around here. Cheers
I'm liking that stove that you used on the grill Boss - well done! My Dutch over is currently my only baking option.
+Jerry Hegarty The stoves work great on the older woodstoves too. Cheers
Well JC, they looked really good and by the smile on your face I guess they tasted good too!
I've cooked quiche without the crust, exactly the same method but just the ingredients in a well greased (with butter) ceramic dish. It's a good alternative for those with wheat allergies and slightly less heavy on the carbs, but as you say nothing beats a good quiche!
Thanks for sharing.
+Alan Williams Glad you mentioned that because I had been wondering if the crust is really necessary at all. I'll have to try that. Thanks
My dad just made this using your recipe and it was absolutely amazing!!
