same camera over and over again..i love blackmagic been shooting with them since 2020 but its the same shit in a different body for the most part with minor tweaks.
The Pyxis seems to be a great camera, it’s not for everyone and many will be happy but also disappointed. Like any full fledged cinema camera, it’s going to cost to rig up but if this is your dream camera,.. it’s worth it for the price and what you get.
I’ve been in a creative no man’s land for about six months. Then I started scheduling creative times. Sometimes it’s actually putting my hand on a camera and sometimes it’s just imagining projects. This has helped me.
Nah you dropped some real game in this video. I 100% felt what you said about vlogging. I literally stopped vlogging for over a year because it just wasn’t feeling genuine. I’m back to creating content now though. Also I think it’s crazy you live in VA and we have mutual friends too lol. Keep it up bro! ✊🏾
My guy! I haven't looked into that camera yet BUT wanted to say your perspective on life and what you're going through is always refreshing. Knowing that you keep it genuine instead of trying to fake a situation for engagement means a lot. Glad the family is doing okay and I know you'll be keeping everyone centered during these moments!
I really have trouble creating content, but when you said "Always look for a good frame then add yourself in it" that was the best advice I've heard in a long time. Thank you and subscribed.
Dawg, thank you for sharing this. I always leave your videos inspired. To be honest, I have a video, shot and edited but I'm scared of what the commitment to posting it will be. But always understanding that I need to be as authentic as possible is freeing. No gimmicks
That mirror setup was great. I do photography and videography with my woodworking business and like running at my local nature preserve. I’ve put off this particular shoot, but seeing it in this video gives me the confidence to do it.
I will tell to you that I'm on a learning journey. I started about a month ago and still trying to narrow down what exactly it is i want to do. But, I just wanted to tell you that I want to be like you when I grow up 🙏🏼. I didn't think i have an eye for this stuff but I'm gonna go down with a fight. You give a different kinda perspective that i love and i truly believe that God puts you in the direction that you need to be. You also give a lot of great advice.
Great advice. I find myself overwhemled, thinking I need more lights, or different lenses, or all that and end up doing lots of tests, but not actually creating. Great points on limitation and writing down those ideas. Also, I've got those same dumbells!
You just said it, make the day in a life video exactly as you are feeling that day, i.e feeling bored /overworked and decide to watch Netflix all day ignoring things you should be doing, covering the negative and benefits around losing a day. (film in a creative way, which you are already amazing at) | But who am I to give you filming ideas, I've been watching and supporting you for years, so learning from you :-)
This hit bro. I’ve been forcing content lately and it’s been miserable. Pyxis looks dope. Love the blackmagic image quality. Don’t have a need for it but looks pretty sweet.
“It’s absolutely ok for you to enjoy consuming something and. It creating anything like it” This!!! Is 1000% real! Applies both to cinematography and photography
I love what you’re saying here about limitations being an asset rather than a setback. And that you would go so far as to self impose limitations to elevate your creative process. That is advice worth taking. Brings to mind one of the silver linings of poverty. Having been poor most of my life, I have often found there’s beauty in poverty because there are limitations. One becomes more creative with how they interact with the world. For example, creating a delicious meal out of a few simple ingredients. Or finding a piece of furniture that is being thrown away and carefully mending it, bring new life to something old and unwanted, and making it beautiful. Endless options can be paralyzing. Limitations can make you hungry, motivated and clear your vision.
Thanks for showing us how you got the cool shots in your video. You showed the exact shots that made me think "how did he get that shot?" Thanks for your thoughts about shooting and how you feel at times. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way at times.
I related to so much that you mentioned in this video - I felt so seen. I also don't feel like something is wrong with me lol! I don't like pressure/deadlines, I think I overwhelm myself with giving myself too many options so I just don't record. This was such an excellent video - so many gems dropped. Thank you!
Thanks for this video my man, so inspiring ! I will do my first solo filmmaking soon and I won’t forget to thank you once done. I add it to my script right now. Keep going !!
The Pyxis 6k, like any new camera, regardless of features or lack thereof I try to ignore the desire to get invested in new tech. It's ironically exciting, but limiting when you think of the ever changing, constantly iterating industry that to chase is exhausting and expensive. Sticking to my C100 MK1 for what it offers me is enough, just want to keep making films, try different ways of telling stories. Sliders, cranes. Lighting, colour. Sound design, music. Pacing, editing. anything that changes the dyanmics of what's possible in a shot/setup that's more up for consideration and is far more important. And man, you do incredible work with what your produce man.
I never thought I had too many decisions to choose from being that I have limited gear... but your right. I need to say "hey, I am only using VHS and 1 light and I take for each scence" more stuff as in having a goal of how you will film it. I'm not talking about pre production. Merely the tools you will need and parameters within it. Thanks!
decision fatigue is 100 percent my problem thank you for this i used to set deadlines but started taking my time on things and now jump from unfinished project to unfinished project, thanks again
Absolutely love your shots! You take so much care on your total execution and delivery. Very well done, and thank you. This is exactly how I’m feeling. Cheers! 🍻
Good video. Being creative can be hard on a consistent basis if you aren’t feeling the vibe. Which is why it shouldn’t be forced. Finding new scenarios or new adventures sparks creativity and that can help in the long run as a film maker or even a content creator IMO.
Thanks for your inspiration and motivation always. I have a question, please what UA-cam category can I set my channel on, if i do cinematic vlogs and filming tips. am confused on the type of category to place my channel when posting my videos. I would appreciate your response on this
Really enjoyed your honesty about real life experiences. I too live by that when it comes real life and not the one others portray to have. I saw a lot shots I want to make that you did, thanks. As for the PYXIS definitely gonna to get one regardless of what others are saying about it. I feel it’s the ideal full frame camera that I need at this moment.
all imma simply say is thank you for this video brother you’ve been a huge inspiration to me since 2016 taught me how to edit music videos with your tutorials always gave game on gear video ideas all of it you just helped me gain the drive to do my “Reality Vlog” again I thought it wasn’t for me cuz I mainly wanna direct and write films and music videos and act as well but like my pops told me and this video alone just showed me the character the writing and shooting thanks Brotha I needed this video because man I’ve been tripping in the head for no reason feeling my content sucks because I don’t get the views or subs it discourages me fuck that I’m 26 I gotta make it all count while I’m still young thank you for this once again bro imma shout you out in my next Episode and who knows if you watch it it might inspire you too love from LA ✊🏿
Love the video and the message! I don’t think your DITL vlogs could be boring with how creative your shots are! Do you script out the whole video before you shoot? Like what you say on camera and what will be a voiceover shot?
You said it right! Like that time I tried to go hard into cinematic videos 😂. I realised that ish needs time. I had to give myself a pep talk and say “you can’t go from regular to cinematic overnight girl”. As soon as I did that, I started making more content. Being super ambitious has helped me a lot of the time but it’s useful to recognise when it’s a hinderance.
I really like the format you’ve been using. You give great tips and thoughts while incorporating great set ups. I was wondering if you were using any filters on your lenses or are you still adjusting in post?
My dawg! Was hyped to wake up and see you dropped a video. Can relate a lot, shot selection was fantastic per usual. Keep doing your thing man. I think the Blackmagic 6k dropping is awesome for what it is, looking forward to seeing more on it as a viable option. Much love and respect bro 🙏
RE the PYXIS camera by Blackmagic, I think it's a great camera for the price. People complained about the lack of ND filters, etc. But, it's $3K. Some people compared it to the Komodo X, but that camera is $10K. To the compare the two is ridiculous. But, for what it does offer and the cost, it is well worth it.
Hey bruddaman, I wanna start taking shots when I get my camera And when u did the one with the bus I loved. I feel what I did in the last situation is mess with the color effects on my premiere pro lol Then again that's me, keep doing your thing love 💜👍🏿
okay but how did you get the blue shot to look the way it did with a regular 24mm prime? It looks like you used a super wide angle apc-c lens on a full frame sensor with the focus set to minimum focusing distance
The new BM is nice but they made the same exact mistake as with the BMPCC4k…that screen is difficult to use. Make it a tilt screen. I feel you, been there too in the past..doing interesting stuff for the vlog. It has to suit your personality, I don’t like that fake stuff so decided to stop doing them. Nice vid and honest stuff man, keep it up
Love the video and it really does connect with me. Also I hope this is ok, but I'm really in love with how your set up your videos, the message with the bts vlog right after. I'd love to try and do this in my work. Well at least try it out and see if it can work for me. Anyways, keep doing your thing fam.
It would be cool to maybe mount the cam on the outside of the bus into one window/seat. You could capture all the different people who sat in that seat over the course of the bus route. 😂 Anyway. Thanks for another great vid.
I need blackmagic to stop making damn fine cameras. I just got my 6kPro! Do I need a Pyxis? Probably not... but the full frame is inciting... (beware of gear obsession though! I keep telling myself 'once I get this lens/filter/equipment, I'll do that thing', and that's stopped me from being productive).
PYXIS? No? Yeah? Where we at on this drop?
I think yeah!
it's all daydreams to me, I'm shooting with a ZVE-10 and living vicariously through gear review channels
same camera over and over again..i love blackmagic been shooting with them since 2020 but its the same shit in a different body for the most part with minor tweaks.

yEAH
"if you're struggling coming up with ideas, create something about how you're feeling at this very moment." Lowkey genius.
Yeah I thought that was super clever too!
I literally just did that on my channel 😊
I’ve been in a creative no man’s land for about six months. Then I started scheduling creative times. Sometimes it’s actually putting my hand on a camera and sometimes it’s just imagining projects. This has helped me.

3:55 as a concert photographer i felt this LOL swapping lenses and inconsistent lighting can be very unforgiving in my lane

Yes sir... we gotta try them to find our own path but if it doesn't feel right let it be. Well said!
beautiful family brother ! God Bless !
This is me in a nut shell. I always come up with ideas, but I never seem to get them done. I really needed to hear this... Thanks, man!

Been loving the BTS after the explainers. Real inspirational that you do it on your own.

The slider shots were so smooth! Especially the one where you’re sitting at the bench in the park. 👀🔥
Another great video with plenty of Gems. You have a gift that just keeps giving. The pyxis looks great as well
Love the shot while in the bus, that fish eye was dope
decision fatigue is 100 percent my problem thank you for this i used to set deadlines but started taking my time on things and now jump from unfinished project to unfinished project, thanks again
Love how you put it. It’s okay to just enjoy consuming something that you don’t necessarily want to create.
Forever the 🐐 and the reason I started shooting/editing seriously.
Feel this bro! Great video
I dont even make videos or do photography but every shot you get is just so damn good.
Your filmmaking skills are crazy! Angles 🍿
Man i needed this!! Your videos are like therapy, thanks for the Gems!
Absolutely love your shots! You take so much care on your total execution and delivery. Very well done, and thank you. This is exactly how I’m feeling. Cheers! 🍻
I love this video! Well done! Thank you for just being real...
Good video. Being creative can be hard on a consistent basis if you aren’t feeling the vibe. Which is why it shouldn’t be forced. Finding new scenarios or new adventures sparks creativity and that can help in the long run as a film maker or even a content creator IMO.
Definitely a big motivator to creator ! Thanks YCIMAGING 🏆🏆🏆
Love the video, you always give a fresh perspective with such relatable content.
Thanks for your inspiration and motivation always.
I have a question, please what UA-cam category can I set my channel on, if i do cinematic vlogs and filming tips.
am confused on the type of category to place my channel when posting my videos. I would appreciate your response on this
God bless, peace be upon you and yours…thank you🖤
Great vid! I appreciate your content man
Thanks for sharing the real life struggles!!

the content you put out is always quality and your film style is always top tier man hoping to get on this level (if not better one day) 💪🏾
Love the video and the message! I don’t think your DITL vlogs could be boring with how creative your shots are! Do you script out the whole video before you shoot? Like what you say on camera and what will be a voiceover shot?
Great video bruh, keep dropping them.

The black magic is fire 💜💙💜 16:57
Super dope camera it’s like looking out the human eye
Bro u be preaching. Thank you for this. Going through majority of what u was speaking bout and I thought I was bugging but it ain’t just me. 🫡
Love this 🎥🎥.. it’s the simplicity of it 💯💯👓
This video was so dope YC everything about this video was fire , thank you for always giving use knowledge ....
Going with the Pyxis as my first full frame camera
Long form content is the best💯
LONG TIME FOLLOWER BRO MAN . KEEP GRINDING
Damn bro, this video came in time! I always feel that .... and I quit doing what I'm doing ... even though I have the skills and the tools!
I saw the new Blackmagic camera but I don’t really care about any new cameras, pretty content with what I have and shoot with
Loving your style of content; the composition goes hard 🔥
yoooo, I just ordered that lens! Excited for it to arrive. It's manual focus though, correct?
RE the PYXIS camera by Blackmagic, I think it's a great camera for the price. People complained about the lack of ND filters, etc. But, it's $3K. Some people compared it to the Komodo X, but that camera is $10K. To the compare the two is ridiculous. But, for what it does offer and the cost, it is well worth it.
Yeah that camera goes hard, I may have to invest in that fish eye lens those shots just look nice. I love to see a creator creating. Great video.
💛💛💛💛💛💛
You're the man, thanks for this
i love your videos man, they helped me a lot
Hey bruddaman, I wanna start taking shots when I get my camera

okay but how did you get the blue shot to look the way it did with a regular 24mm prime? It looks like you used a super wide angle apc-c lens on a full frame sensor with the focus set to minimum focusing distance
2:45 shot too hard 🔥

Good stuff here. Inspiration!
it's a dope camera honestly.
Love the video and it really does connect with me. Also I hope this is ok, but I'm really in love with how your set up your videos, the message with the bts vlog right after. I'd love to try and do this in my work. Well at least try it out and see if it can work for me.
Anyways, keep doing your thing fam.
Why I use three lights, same ones, godox fl150s and 100 for my headshots. No decision but lots of options
So I analyze till I'm paralyzed, so I have 1 question which the answer could change that. Can I use the 360 4X to shoot person podcast interviews?
damn i resonated so much with this video. unreal
It would be cool to maybe mount the cam on the outside of the bus into one window/seat. You could capture all the different people who sat in that seat over the course of the bus route. 😂 Anyway. Thanks for another great vid.
Let’s go fam!✊🏿💯
Broo love from India❤❤❤❤🥰🥰😍😍😍
I need blackmagic to stop making damn fine cameras. I just got my 6kPro! Do I need a Pyxis? Probably not... but the full frame is inciting... (beware of gear obsession though! Yeah dude I really want a slider so I appreciate that bro
Thanks for inspiring the mass
Pyxis 6k obviously a box body. Seems like a step above bmd 6k pro and a step below ursa mini?
