I am 77 years old from a photography background. I love your approach to the creative process. You are inspirational. I am just starting to make and learn film making. It is a joyful process. Thank you, for sharing.
That's why they call him the GOAT
Turned a tutorial into a movie🙌🏾
Your casual teaching style is my favorite thing about your videos--this one especially. Feels low-pressure and encouraging. Love your enthusiasm for problem-solving and creative solutions.
Bro I've been watching you for years, and I think this might be my favorite video that you've ever made. Thank you so much for how much work you did here. It really helps a lot of us.
was super tired of everyone trying to make it look easy and just natural, but looking at you grinding show us on how much work is done on a lot of videos you just take for granted UK. super grateful to have known and seen your contents over the years. loving this new era! oh and ... "Just roll with it 🎥”
This is why I watch you. I could have watched another hour of this easily. Its easy to believe that someone like you is just a professional all the time and is doesn't have to go through trial and error. Another thing that helped me too is the fact that you didn't really enjoy the shot of you sitting on the hood of your car and that was honestly one of my favorites, just goes to show how everyone likes something different and that's the beauty of cinematography.
Love your style man. Been watching for an age. Love how you don’t rush and you seem to just be you. I’ve taken that lesson for my own stuff man. Cheers for that ❤
You're one of the FEW people I'll see a 10min+ video get posted and I still go to it without feeling like I'm going to sit through some nonsense. The work is dope as always
Pretty sure this is the ONLY video I've seen on YT about lighting that actually has good lighting!
bro thanks for teaching such practical and high quality cinematography, God bless!!!
love the confidence of being alone in public like this. and then at night and in traffic.
I love the long videos and the process. Short form content makes people think everything is sooooo quick and its not. So when clients come and expect things to be done in a day or their budget dont make their request, this is why!!! Favorite shot was the garage because of the process.
Yo! "Just roll with it," like you said - I'm going through my filmmaking journey. I am new to this and I really appreciate that you showed moments when you were failing, but figured it out. And that making a short video takes real time and preparation. To me, that’s new, and to capture that, a long video like this it was completely necessary, it just gives a better sense of time. So, yeah thanks for sharing!
Mann that garage shot really got me hyped seeing it put all together! also love the long videos I personally am a fan
Aye YC, "just roll with it 📽" this is gold! Im learning so, a huge thank you!
Just roll with it 🎥 these long form videos are packed with tons of good information and seeing the BTS and thought process behind your decisions is priceless 👌🏼
When I tapped on this video I had no intention of watching the whole thing, I was like “whoa that’s long” but then I ended up watching it anyway and quite enjoyed it
i've had this video up for almost four months on a random tab because i wanted to watch it and didn't want to forget it. Loved all 40+ minutes. Really inspiring to watch. I've got a couple of those pt4c's and seeing what you did with them makes me know I made a good purchase! Hope more of these long vids come up.
Tons of value here, appreciated this one a lot, especially on exhibitions it’s sometimes impossible bringing lots of lights, working with some base or minimum lighting is tough sometimes so thanks for sharing 🙏🏻🙏🏻happy Sunday
I actually love long and thorough videos especially as a beginner. And this video was dope! Thanks for sharing your knowledge. 🙏❤️
You being excited about having nailed the white balance was the most relatable part lol
Thanks for your hard work and time putting this together. As a Music Producer who wants to get better at filming myself and try stand out with my creativity from other producers and filmmakers alike, I took a lot from this video. Thanks 🙏🏾
Wow! Your work ethic is incredible and we appreciate you being so transparent and sharing tips for the community. Thank you 🙏🏾
“Just roll with it” - You a mad scientist dawg lol.
The opening scenes were crazy good & the 4-segmented one is one of the coldest I’ve seen.
Always enjoy the process of how you create these.
Bro! This was extremely helpful in learning different lighting techniques. Definitely appreciate the tips. Would love more of this style of video. Thanks!
Absolutely…more! Also, watching your channel grow over the years is wonderful. Don’t stop. 💯
I like that no matter the duration of the video you still be on subject and not everywhere but the subject I highly respect that. Watched the whole thing
I appreciate you cuz. It's SO much easier learning from someone who talks like me, and comes from a similar walk of life. And you saying "most times you just gotta start" hit home fr. Definitely finna tap in to your channel more
Captivating…I didn’t even realize how long it was. You had me LOCKED in. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
The amount of lightning needed for these shots are underrated. Thanks for being in depth and the BTS bro!
I love seeing your ‘mistakes’ and how you change your strategy to fix them! A lot of filmmaking on here doesn’t really show how to get the shots they get so this was so helpful!
I regret that I'm just now finding your channel. Really good stuff and I love the cinematic approach to walking us through the process. It's very refreshing to watch from the standard talk about specs behind a desk video. Very inspirational for my own creativity.
Been watching for years! You and Ryan help keep me going when I’m ready to just quit it all
Wow man, mad respect. Your flow and authenticity are inspiring. I made it to the end and was spell bound the whole way. Mid life here, just a dream and a hobby to do what you do. Your enthusiasm for the creative spark, especially in your garage had me, cause I can totally relate to that glee of working my butt off and pushing through until vision meets reality. Thank you.
Damn bro I really admire your confidence to shoot out in public like that let alone have lighting in the middle of the street where you have to move it from cars. I live in a small city called Harrisburg, Pa wherever you’re from it seems like the residence are respectful to people trying to be creative if I would’ve tried that in my town somebody probably would’ve tried to run over my lighting or get out and start drama!! Love ya channel 🤝🏽💯
Really enjoyed your delivery… sense of humor… & an encouraging sense of experimentation! I couldn’t give up watching…
Just roll with it 🎥... So many gems in this video. Thank you! I was shocked when I found out you staged the appearance of a car passing by your garage. Respect!
Love your work and this longform video is refreshing and so good. As a writer - its true in my field of speciality - when you do or read a good long form article it blows the 'attention deficit' short pieces out of the water. Kudos to you - just discovered you with this vid - hope you'll feel pumped to do similar length vids in the future. Your articulate, chilled and well thought out approach not only the dynamic filming but also narration and audio is a winner - and those shots - Michael Mann would be jealous - much love from the UK and wishing you a lot of continued success in the future 🙏
This was an enjoyable 47 minutes to have in the background while I am cutting my own videos! Inspiring setups man!
Dude you have absolutely nailed the riddle of cinematic lighting. The last red-blue scene I watched on another creators channel was heavily over saturated, but seeing yours the balance was just right. Beautiful work man 👍🏽😎
I watched the whole thing. Very well done and helpful. Lighting has always been difficult and ive been at this for years
thank you for boiling all the shots down for us. awesome shots . i usually do not watch such long videos but when it "takes you in" one just got to roll with it 🎥 :)
very informative and motivating 🙏
The dinning room shot was my favourite. I don't know how you do it but i watched the entire video. Myself I am into drone cinematography not sure how i will integrate your techniques but learning lots about your creative process and finding my own.
Bro you’re a legend-thank you so, so much for your tips and feelings. You’re a saint and a film friend 4 life
Great long form content to explain how you get "the shot". Man, even just setting up for a podcast is a pain with basic cameras without lights. We are about to dive into the lighting aspect soon and so your content is great for learning what to do and also your lessons learned to help keep the learning curve shallow for everyone. Appreciation goes to you! Stay Blessed.
Long time viewer, first time commenting. This is easily my all time favorite video of yours. Straight up masterclass. Your enthusiasm for your craft shines.
Well, this is the 2nd vid of yours that popped up on my feed, and I appreciate BOTH of those works.
So, you earned yourself another sub, a like and "Just roll with it 🎥"
Very inspirational, you have a killer eye for finding the right set and setting, great job my dude!
Just Roll With It 🎥! The tunnel shot was really dope and the room shoot with the silhouette and the blue light in the background was awesome too!
🎥 I was searching how to film cinematic videos and you were on the first page! I absolutely love the entire breakdown of the BTS of the different shots you took. My fav shot has to be in industrial area AND when you filmed you talking in the parking lot with your car.
Just came across your channel yesterday for the first time and brother… thank you. Thank you for giving us your gift of not just education, but entertainment and value through the art of storytelling and sharing HOW you do it. Just subscribed to you man. Blessings to you brother.
Aye man. Love your content. Been a cinematographer my whole career, love your teaching style. I wanted to mention something a grip taught me when I was coming up years ago: At 19:35 I can see your c stand arm is underslung, meaning on the left hand side of the stand and on the underside the knuckle (grip head). The weight of your light can break the lock, or grip, of your knuckle which can send your gear crashing to the ground on into someone. The safest way to mount these lights is stand behind your light stand, put he knuckle on the right hand side, and make sure the arm goes through the top side of the knuckle. This was, as weight is applied to the arm with lights or modifiers, it actually tightens the knuckle. Hope this helps, keep it up man. Love your channel.
Toughhhh!!! 🔥🔥 Understanding how much work goes into making these videos. You going above and beyond is much appreciated man.
Just roll with it! I could watch another full hour of this. Your work is crazy inspiring and we love to see it!
Love this long video format- had it playing in the background while doing production notes for a project and this is definitely inspiring to use light better, that’s something I’ve been wanting to implement more in practice so it’s helpful to see your creative process throughout
Definitely gonna apply the right side grip! Dope BTS breakdown
i watched the whole video. I liked watching you come up with ideas and trying them out because thats what we also do. and I love your enthusiasm!
That was wonderful! You’re the filmmaker friend we wish we hung out with. That’s the vibe of the video. Thank you for letting us hang with you along the creative journey.
That is one of the best tutorial i've ever watched dude. Keep 'em going.
Definitely need to make more content like this. The UA-cam space needs it!
Bro I'm loving these BTS so much. Hearing your thinking, seeing the creative process, seeing what gear you're using and where you're putting them, this is so good to help me learn. Appreciate you brother
It really wasn't long enough because I'm currently binge watching your content.😅 It's very valuable to me and the doubts you have about scenes is sooooo funny to me because to me they all look great 😂😂😂😂 I'm a real novice trying to get into content making and it so much value here. Thank you for putting in the time and giving the transparency 🫶🏾🙏🏾 much love.
I made it to the end my bro and I'm definitely gonna be using these techniques. Dope work, The garage and the tunnel shot, definitely my fav
wow, thanks man! thats a lot of work & dedication you put into making this video...and i love how realistic this is (the common problems photographers face can be mundane, non-thrilling but we do what we gotta do to get that "one shot")...the tips & advice you gave are real-life, and based on experience & since I m a semi-professional photographer, I appreciate it ! God bless you brother !
This was my favorite video of yours so far! (I haven't seen all of them, but seen a lot) That garage scene was my FAVORITE! & being able to see the bts on how you made it happen was so dope! I was so excited to see you make it come to life!
Man I enjoyed this content man. Love the info and education about it. I actually watched this video 3 times already. Just learning different things from this content. Love it. Thank you. 🔥
Yeah man… can watch a 2 hours behind the scenes with you presenting….thx for all the inspiration man. You are a machine.
great as always man. Been watching you for like 8 years or so. Yeah... what we do is problem solving most of the time. Then a portion of that time is creating art with the problems we solved.
Such a wealth of information here, thank you for going out on the limb and against the algorithm and posting this long video! I learned so much. Thank you for making this type of content, can’t wait to see what’s next.
Long tutorial style videos are important to creators who are learning or sharpening their skills, your videos helped make me money when I started making music videos 4 years ago. lighting was the topic, and yet again taught me a lot.
I love seeing the excitement when you achieve a scene, Let’s go! You have always had great aesthetic. I will tune in on long videos like this, all day 🤌🏽
New to your content man, but as a new and up and coming filmmaker who’s also black, I appreciate your advice and art. Thank you for the insight and motivation brotha
You really encapsulated the feeling of us feeling like we’re there with you. Awesome work
It's crazy how much in depth yet consumable content you put out for us all. I hope you get $300 million dollars somehow hahaha
Just roll with it🎥 The scene in front of the store was perfect. I've never cared for greenish tint in videos but that scene changed my mind.
Wow, I can feel the confidence through my screen in the way you made this video. You really love doing this and you can tell. Thank you for sharing and you definitely gained a fan outta me!
Just roll with it 🎥. This is me personally, but I love these longer form videos it gives a much better insight into process, and shows how you work thru things.
Just Roll With It!
Brother, you made exactly what I needed to see. I have a amaran 200x s, the 60cs and a few tube lights (and a bmpcc6k), and I've been so intimidated to get shots like what you're doing, as well as the problem solving. I am a big fan of the longer form content. Thank you so much, please keep it up.
You're hitting a strong stride here... great work. The scripting and flow are stellar. The subject matter is super helpful.
Appreciate the value once again through all these years bro. That 40+ minutes felt like 10. Don’t stop my boy!
I wish we were neighbors, because that garage setup is something I enjoy problem solving. Good energy bro!
Dawg I ain't know the 300c came in white? It looks c l e a n. Love that you walked us through the entire process, both the fun results and the sometimes tedious path to get there. I appreciate this reminder than you can keep things simple and still make some great stuff if you push through the doubt in your mind. Just roll with it baby!
Rolling bro 😎 Great video and informative
I like the car shots most the one with the red light and the one from above with the head lights are awesome.
The PRODUCTION QUALITY of your videos is on point 👍🏽
This was a great and enlightening video. We need to see just how much work goes into catching a 2- minute shot in an edited video. This was perfect
Bro. You're creative drive is insane. You inspire me big time!
Keep making the kind of content you want to make man. Don't let the algorithm burn you out. When you make stuff that feeds your passion and creativity, it makes us want to watch even more. Keep up the good work
I’m loving these type of videos. It feels really personable (I love the uncut clips) in-between …the lady about to ran out the streets, the foxes considering you for dinner! Hilarious.
I appreciate your content so much. You're one of the few youtubers I legit feel like im getting valuable lessons and information from. Just released my first little tester short short film. It sucks but you make me feel like I can get better.
Bro, you are a legend man,I love your dedication, right now am a phone videographer but I've learnt alot from you,and that shot through the garage door,I loved it man
I didn't even realize it was 40 minutes until it was over😂needed all the information I got! Thank You!💪🏽
Always authentic. The level of discipline to self motivate is unmatched
Just roll with it 📷
I really appreciate videos like this. It was long, but worth it
Been watching your for a year or 2 and I love the progress you've made over time. I wanna get a camera and you are definitely one of the people I look up when I wanna learn something new
Just roll with it 🎥. Definitely could have watched a lot more of this. So much information, easily laid out
Dude that green toned balance looks fire!!!!
Just roll with it 🎥!!! man I’d continue watching this video if it was three hours long. You inspired me to start my UA-cam channel
Definitely appreciate the detail and thought put into the behind the scenes. Great content.
Appreciate you fam “Just roll with it 🎥” I really like the long form video!
"Just Roll with it" Aye bro just wanted to say I appreciate you and all the information you provide🙌🙌
I always watch till the end. 🎥 I want to make sure I could learn all I can. I really like seeing you put together a shot , you go from what you have to what you want. This has helped me so much, it’s bonus when you put all the settings for me to copy cause I’m a director and I shoot my own movies ❤-Niasia
Longgggg video here, but I really wanted to bring you along for the journey + try some new things with these videos. Make sure to let me know if you enjoy, happy Friday!!
You taking us on a journey man. Nothing wrong with that.
whatsup bro. just tapped in to this channel yesterday, thisll be a big help for me. im curious, how long did it take you to film + edit + post all of this?
one more question. where do you find the willpower to go out and and really learn and film yourself and to speak outloud? i find myself cringing, ts is harder than it looks
Don’t apologize making a long video, I loved every minute of it! Super informative and inspiring, that garage scene was 🔥
I mess with it. I really enjoy this content.
always great job dude! looking forward, checking this one tonight!
