I put together an Amazon affiliate link to the gear and jigs I used in the video description as well as here: amzn.to/2Sgrm7b Hope it helps! Should I do more squid fishing videos this upcoming season? Should I try other types of jigs? Let me know down below. Thanks for watching!
I was just telling my boyfriend that I used to go squid jigging with my parents when I was young. He wanted to see it, and your video was the first I showed him. Watching your video has definitely brought back great memories of my late parents and piqued my boyfriend's interest in squid jigging.
this is the nicest person ive ever seen on youtube i really want to meet him and sit down and talk and be friends theres not alot of people like this so give him some love and support I love you man
This man knows what he's talking about, educational and inspiring your videos are thorough and easy for anyone to understand! Ill be watching your videos from this point on,thank you !
Tip for next time when it comes to the cooking part: slowly melt down some butter, then add freshly minced garlic and some finely chopped parsley. Throw the squid (or shrimp or crab or lobster) in there and crank the heat up a bit. Add some lemon juice and some white wine. Bring it back down to a simmer. Add a bit of the water used to cook and the pasta. Then add the pasta and toss it all together. Voila, you’re all done. Plate it and enjoy
Really liked this vid, and I’m not even sure why. There was just something really relaxing about it. I’m hoping to move down to the coast soon, so maybe watching these vids will help me in the transition from freshwater to saltwater fishing a little!
As soon as I started the video and heard your voice I fell inlove and I knew this would be a fun adventure. Even though I’m only 17 I wanna travel far and catch huge ass fish and just be happy! Keep up the good content!
Loved watching someone from another country catch squid. Here in Australia we (No one I know of) don't use weights. We use 4-5 inch weighted jigs and bounce near the bottom while retrieving. Our squid in Melbourne have a good that grows to over 16 inches. They are called southern calamari.
I have never seen anyone catch squid before, I just love to eat it lol, nicely detailed video, I'm just sorry I caught this video so late, new subscriber for sure, thanks!
Just came across your video, awesome! Squid is a very sustainable fish and delicious. I like starting a saute pan with good olive oil, add some red pepper flake, garlic, squid, and lemon juice. Lastly I add the pasta into the pan and then on the plate. You get a nice coating of flavor over all the pasta.
Thank you for explaining HOW to catch them. Very thorough and when I can get to the coast I’m gonna try. If you go again soon could you talk more about how you pick the area you choose to find them? Speaking as a person who’s learning all of this from UA-cam and also from Texas so i don’t even know if i can catch any around here. Also, you’ve got great videos and explain everything really well!
Silly question but, after you catch them and have your bucket full. Do you then put them in that ziplock bag and put in fridge? My guess is they just die in the bag then next morning take out of fridge and clean?
Hey Jake, they pretty much fill all of salt water inlets close to the ocean during the warm summer months around here in Maine. Where I fish for them is very rocky and choppy along the bottom. I have not tried to fish for them on the beaches or any sandy bottom areas, but they might be there as well. When I go out to a new spot, I'll usually give it 30 minutes of fishing and if I don't get anything I'll try a different spot or come back at a different tide. Hope this helps!
Three year late, but great video 👍 Switched from mackerel to squid for my striped bass fishing up here in Salem. Decided to start using for calamari as well… I was searching for clean and cook vids and yours popped up. Thanks for posting
Im a chef also and squid fish in the fall in nj.frozen squid are crap compared to fresh caught.they are sweet and tasty.fried sauted or caviche .you will never eat frozen squid again once you try fresh.😁
I have a lot of squid recipes and even though, I have been fishing my entire life, I have never been squid fishing! Thank you for this. Any tips on regulations etc?
nicw video man never seen someone fish for squid with rod and reel before but i wanted to know bad you would you say they hurt when the bite im just curious or what can you compare it to
Never know squid came into water like that. Which body of water is this recorded at? In the Pacific Northwest Puget Sound, squid can be catch at pier during summer/fall/winter!
Just found your channel and I am really digging the catch n' cook material! Would love to see move catch n' cooks in the future on this channel :) Hope your'e staying safe during this COVID-19 time. (Subscribed and rang that bell). Cheers!
First video I've watched from this channel and subscribed after 1 minute of the video when u explained how picky these squids get with color..im in Philly but I have fished squid in Rhode Island a few years back... Keep it up brother! Very informative video!
If you dont want ink in the kitchen, you can simply use a bucket or some deep dish filled with clean water and clean squids under water so if ink squirts water will contain it.
Wow. I always thought squids were normally large, like the size of the "giant squid". These are adorable I was honestly disappointed when I saw how "small" the giant squid was lol
Where is this location? East Coast? I like to go squid fishing in Maine. It’s so fun. What we do is we put multiple jigs on the line. You can catch several squid at once it’s pretty awesome. They are very tasty! Next time I go I will have to try to let them ink out in the water. Never thought of that.
Really nice video. I'm from Michigan so I have never experienced catching and cleaning squid but I sure have ate Calamari before and it's delicious. Thanks for sharing.
Love the detail you go into! Wish all youtube fishers did. Just discovered this vid on my recommended and im definitely subbing and watching all your vids

I usually do eging( fishing squid) and I prefer fish always with the egi (the jig) without any lead, it is much funny and sensitive. You should try this! Where I live and near where i fish we use handmade squid jigs

I've got a few questions.
What does a squid feel like to touch?
Also how do they taste?
Squid feels rubbery but they taste good
Grilled squid is the best. But usually prepared fried calamari style
This actually looks very appetizing
I rarely leave comments , this was a well put together video , I enjoyed this very much. I’ve subscribed

Thank you so much for posting this. I bought some squid from my local Asian store. This really is helpful on how to clean it.
What knot did you use for the jig? Can you do a tutorial if the knot please?
It's just a dropper loop, but I can try and make a tutorial in the future
Where was this filmed at, what river or body of water?
What part of the country is this it’s beautiful perhaps west Coast? Because those look like pacific market squid
