- Опубліковано 6 жов 2024
- Today we’re doing a Puget Sound Squid catch & cook in my camper van! I’ll briefly show you how to catch squid in the Puget Sound, with a technique called “squid jigging” in Seattle. Then we will take the catch back to my Ford E250 Camper van conversion, to do a “Squid Catch and Cook! Enjoy the scenery, and relax. Also, I hope you can make the group squid fishing event on November 15th, 2019 at 5pm @ Marination Ma Kai in Seattle to do some squid jigging together! I would love to show you how fun and easy Puget Sound Squid fishing is!
See you there!
I love that everyone can be close quarters like that and still have a good time! Makes me feel a little better about the world!
"don't worry guys this won't be a weird video..." 2 min later "lets put this squid in a glove!"
My Dad used to take us Squid jigging out in Port Orchard. It was always packed but it was fun and sometimes we could limit out.
There is no limit to squid
Northern east outdoors lol
Northern east outdoors you can only keep 20
Northern east outdoors it was about 25 years ago. I thought it was like 50 squid, but I was like 11 so I could be completely wrong.
The Rogue Pirate Smithers in my years old recollection, if you acted like a JackA$$ you got run off the dock. So it was packed but everyone was cool to each other.
You are so fun to watch I can have a bad day and you change it to awsomness! Thank you !
Jeez that's nostalgic, a silent night in a city and fishing for squid
He protec
He atac
But most importantly he eat that squiddy snacc
😂 🦑
Levi Bannister and ur not??
Cllintty he wasn’t wrong. Dumb means you can’t talk and the text can’t speak.
THE GLOVE 😅 Five figures five squid I love it! Lol that’s cute!! 😂
That van is the best house I’ve ever see
Down by the river
Yup. It is
We’re going to use this glove to hold our squid haha haha I love this guy
😂 🧤 🦑
Isn’t there usually some kind of powder inside of them?
Great guy! love his videos!
FiveDmark111 lmao he’s dope 😂
Eckoballa, hope he’s all right, he seems to be missing in action. Should be dropping a video any time now.
This is amazing. I wish ky had more stuff like this.
I just subscribed to your channel for the trout fishing and started binge-watching today. You do a lot of strange things... Maybe squid taste good, but they look creepy and I'm glad we don't have squid in Arizona. All of your videos have been educational and entertaining. Keep them coming!
😂 🦑 thanks man!
Just found your channel. I’m new to the Pacific Northwest. I love your content. Keep up the good work looking forward to new videos
Thank you! Glad to have more people from the PNW subscribed 🤙 More on it's way!
Same! I really love this channel Even though I just found it today! :3
Beautiful view gorgeous view Seattle downtown
I just found this video. I grew up fishing for salmon and squid off that dock. It was great to show my 5 year old. I went there every morning and night during the summer. Love west Seattle!!!
No way, you caught Salmon off that dock?! Awesome! W Seattle is a cool place 🤙
Yeah prior to the water taxi there used to be a heron pen and the salmon used to get drawn in and mess with it. There used to be so many that circled the pen that you could go to the lower dock hand line them.
Bruh if he caught 5 squid for all the fingers they'd be like big brain and work to choke him 🤣
🤣 🦑 🧤
I’ve never seen a squid caught from shore that’s class I love calamari I wonder if I could catch them somewhere near Vancouver 🤔! Awesome video bro!
Vancouver BC or WA? If BC, I’m sure there’s squid runs! In WA, there has to be some piers there that see them come by at the coast...... Or just make a “family trip” to Seattle and just happen to bring a fishing pole 🎣
swartz bay ;)
Yeah, me too!
What about around Vancouver, Washington?
Vancouver BC know any spotts
I was told the "plastic" inside a squid is called a Cuttle Bone. Enjoy watching your videos brotha, keep up the good work!
Thank you! I've heard a lot of names now for it, but cuttle bone is my favorite! Glad you're enjoying the videos man 🤙 🎣
Or “pen”
robert chaney no only cuttle fish have that squid have a feather
Fishing pole: check
Lure: check
Blue glove: check
😂
?
I am new and i used to watch fishing vids, but now he has sparked that interest in me again
The “backbone” is called the feather of the squid
i call it a quill
I call it killer spines
I love calamari. Omg I so have to try this! Funny the first one landed in the middle finger of the glove
😂 good catch on the middle finger!
You know, I have never ate squid. I have ate all kinds of stuff from around the world but never squid. Going to have to try it out. Great video !!!!!!
This is my third vid watched but I’m hooked😂
haha thanks man! Glad you're enjoying them 🤙 🎣 😂
Same budd
IKR
Yea his vids are top notch and since I live in WA too I use his vids to plan my own outings
Is this a pun?
Loved this video . and no its not weird you doing a catch and cook in your van . I would love to have a van lime that . I used to live out of my truck and ford explorer mountain bike ING fishing cooking it was the best time ever . a little small but when it would get cold camping just jump in the vehicle turn the heat on and at night when I would go camping and fishing I would bring my whiskey and beer that warms any body up and you feel no pain then you cook and eat its the greatest time
Great video. Cant believe how tiny them squid are. In South Australia we throw the small ones back because most are large🎣
Could watch you all day man! Going on my first salmon fishing trip next month in northern Michigan and couldn’t be more excited. Watching your videos the last few weeks has taught me a ton. Thank you!
As a dane i’m proud of the danish Læsø salt that you are using 🙏🏻
The Danes (myself included) SHOULD be proud of Læsø salt! I'd have a hard time finding a better salt out there and I've been using it since being a little kid... 🇩🇰
In this video I can see in the skyline area off to the right of this video when you're cooking at I could see the football stadium lights in the background. Pretty cool!!🙂🧛♀️👍✌👋
Get the live feeds going. Looking forward to it. ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO. FISH ON!!!
FISH ON Paul!! Yes! Really looking forward to some live fishing with you guys 🎣
Looked like a great time, nothing like having a portable kitchen on wheels nearby, love your videos
Cool 😎 Video! Fresh squid 🦑 is the best! Yummy 🤤😋

Seattle Washington is beautiful I live in Seattle too❤😊
the vibe where y’all are squidding is awesome good laughs
Wow! I've been trying to find the time to my share, work holding me back. So exciting can't wait!
Dude!! Awesome, I really hope you can make it!! 🎣 🤙🏻 let’s catch some!
Edmonds pier, open 24/7 with some awesome locals, lights, cleaning stations and almost always plenty of people with UV lights shining into the water. I would make that meet up just to avoid the 99 tunnel lol.
Dude, I love Edmonds pier! Definitely need to do another meetup there!
I have been told those clear hard structures inside squid are called Mantel’s, cool video
I think so too! Heard about 5 different names now for it, but I think Mantle is correct 😂 Thanks!
Lol awesome video I do like the van catch and cook videos they are great!
Thank you! Glad you're enjoying the van 🤙
...i love your van camp 🥰...keep safe always 🥰😘😘😘😘
I'm within walking distance of that pier. It's on my bucket list to try squid jigging there sometime.
Awesome vid Leif! I will definitely try and make it out there on the 15th with everyone man. Can't wait to hop on the squid bite. Have a good day Leif!
Awesome! That sounds great, I hope to see you there Murad! Glad you enjoyed the video 🎣 🤙🏻 have a good night!
First restaurant job I ever had, my first task was thawing 30 pounds of frozen squid, and removing the Cartilage from inside the bodies. I was young, and I wasn't very into it. Didn't eat calamari for a very long time after. 😆
I’ve never seen a squid Jig like that 🧐🤔
It is a japanese style Egi Jig lure. There are tons of it available from all the Japanese brands.
You Rock! A rubber glove bucket, LOL!
Patent pending 🤙
Seattle?!?!? Didn't know 😀😀 I'm gonna go catch me some squid
I didn't realize that i watch all of your videos under two days😅... until this was the last video i didn't watch😂
This is fricking awesome. Always love watching your videos
Thank you!! Love that you're enjoying them so much 😂🎣 Ever been squidding?
looks fun and tasty good job keep it up.
If you had a fresh catch and cook food truck I would totally be there :)
This spot hits at night. You'll see the folks out there with lights
Beautiful view of down town Seattle
Love the video!!!
The hard thing in the squid is called the pen and yes they bite I’ve been bit and I don’t recommend it they will break skin would make for a funny video tho keep it up!!👍
Thank you! Pen... go figure 🤣 squid bite sounds like a rite of passage!!
I love this channel... the weirder the better. Honestly I’m living vicariously... because I would love to do this stuff all day.
Dude, I know your message is to just get out there and experience life and nature, but damn you got me aching to move out west. Love your vids man!!
I bet almost 30% of the people who are watching this kind of videos are just watching this after 2 am and still not sleeping and messing up there sleep schedule
omfg you literally described me
Yes
Its 1:30 am but close enough.
shhhh you’ll wake up my mom dude..
Bruh it’s 2 PM not 2 AM
Nice to see some videos from the banana van 👌🍌 Also i like a little variety in catches, wich is something you do great 😅
Thanks! I've enjoyed incorporating the banana van more, and definitely enjoy some fishing variety. I know that most of you joined me during my salmon videos, so I'll definitely do more of that this fall, but there is so much more we can fish for out here that I want to show you. Will be a lot of fun 🤙 Thanks for enjoying the video!
It’s my first time watching his videos and I already love it
The people that disliked this can’t squid fish and don’t have a badass van 🤣🤣
😂 your logic is undeniable 🦑
🤣🤣
HAHA LOL
That thumbnail is glorious. The colors are just fantastic
Love all the merch a hoodie would beLove all awesome!!!
was nice meeting you at your party on the dock
It was a BLAST meeting you all there. Was overwhelmingly surprised at the turnout and can't wait to do another event. Probably in the daytime! Hope you can make it again... 🤙 🎣
Thank you for sharing it’s a great video I love it I also do squidding and video also
i know this video is older but i guess it’s useful to know that grapeseed oil popped like that because it has a higher burning point than olive oil ! basically meaning it requires less heat to be at a certain temperature
Man I love weird! Keep them coming always cool seeing what's next!
Good! Me too 🤣 I did so much Salmon (and will do more), but have been burning to show you guys some other fun stuff we can fish for in the area. Working on a Sturgeon for you guys right now 🤙 🎣
@@NWFishingSecrets I love seeing those big dinosaurs! Much respect for the sturgeon. Are you going to test your luck out on Steelhead at all?
You bet! I was actually just out scouting for Steelhead spots today. Found some good ones. Just got to wait for some fish......
I didn't know it was that squid-fishing time of year!
Perfect timing for Halloween 🎃 You gonna make it out!?
@@NWFishingSecrets Beautiful location to do a catch-n-cook! What dock was that? looked like Alki.
We've been getting them at Seacrest all year.
Yep, it was the Seacrest peer, right by Marination Ma Kai. Too bad you can't make it, but Squid will go on for a while. Some catch them all year!
Nick, do you even catch them in June-August?
Every time you said social event I was scared but then I realized it was before DIVOC
cool view of the city
Thanks, it sure is!
My favorite local fisherman channel! Love the information and humor.
Wow cooking fresh squid while looking at the view is the best! One of the best catch and cooks I’ve seen so far! It feels so relaxing.
Van catch N cooks are a vibe
🤙🏻
Nice video as always, Leif. (Hope I got your name right?)
That glove solution was 👍😂. At least it's not some other "rubber product "😉 nice video.
LOL yeah, I couldn't help but think of that when I put those squid in the glove 😂 And you got my name just right! Glad you enjoyed the video Pavel. I forget, are you local? If so, can you make it to the event?
Hahaha! !!!!!!!!!!he poot the glove in the Bing with sqids
Hoping to get out there the 15th and finally meet the man the myth, the legend!👌🏽
Lol or a guy who makes bobbers and cooks in his van 😂 Really hope you can make it. Would be a blast 🤙🏻
I love this channel it helps me cook better too so thank you
Wow that looks really good man; congratulations!
Thanks man! It’s delicious. Try it 🦑 🤙🏻
13:38 I felt like it was going to be a catch, clean, and burn episode! :)
Thanks for the Nice Video.. Auto-subs.
Hi from a New Subs, today. I used to this Squids Fishing by the Pier, a lot, in Seattle area, when used to live there, back in 2003-2004. This Video brings back a lot of good Memories.. Your other fishing Videos are also Great.. Keep them Coming.. Hello from Fans in INDONESIA..
Good stuff. I take it that the squidding is a fall/winter activity there? Here on the east coast, its a summer thing, and only goes for around 6 weeks. Love catching & eating them. Jigs are different though. Although I do use the style you have, we tend to use very small jigs that look like a shrimp, 90% of the time.
Interesting! Yeah, our area is all about wintertime fishing for Market Squid. Summer can produce a few at times as well. What kind of squid are you guys catching? Would love to catch some of those cool looking tropical squid!
@@NWFishingSecrets Two species, Long fin and Short fin squid. Mostly Long fin where I'm at in Maine. They range in size from 3" to a couple feet.
Ive only seen squid fishing in japan and the indo pacific! Didnt know they were common in the US!
Isn't it crazy? I had always thought the same thing, until a few years ago my friend was like "you wanna go squid fishing??" 😂 Glad you enjoyed!
I will be there! Cant wait to meet you!
Sweet! That sounds awesome man! Looking forward to having you there 🤙 Don't forget a bucket 🤣
Man soy un vicio de tus videossssssss!! Te sigo desde Argentina, Un abrazo enorme!
I've always wanted to catch squid, they are really rare here in Hawaii but we do have octopus and they are just as good
My squidding group and I was on your right side on the pier that night.
That’s us laughing and joking around.
We blame the sea lion or whatever it was for chasing the squid away.
LOL no way! You should of said hi 🤣 I just kinda snuck in there, caught a few squid and disappeared lol.
You guys were hilarious. Who was the dude making the asian impressions? Perfect! 😂
NW Fishing Secrets yeah, that dude nailed down those Asian accents 😂
Everyone in earshot was laughing hard. Even the Asian folks were laughing 😂
lol, that's what I love about squid fishing. It's just about having a good time and all cultures mingle. One of my favorites... You guys gonna make it on the 15th?
NW Fishing Secrets the dock regulars are normally there more often than not so I think so.
The backbone is called the pen. For the exact reason you called it a pen too!
Of course the first squid lands in the middle finger 🤣🤣🤣
They're called korean-style squid jigs with needles and are called a top of middle and a bottom jig the bottom jig does not have a ring underneath and it will be the heaviest then you have a short one with the ring underneath which is your top jig and usually the longest with a ring on top and bottom is your middle I used to make the jigs myself you use Jack in the Box straws on the inside and and you have to have a die so that you can bend your needles and drip led into the center of a block of wood
Wow! Love learning this! That would make a cool video. From jog build to catch! Thank you for explaining this!
Quill in mantle. Chromataphores change the color of squid skin, and yes they bite.
You do NOT want to get bitten by a squid!
The glove bag gave me a hoot.
Thank you for the terminology! Squid are fascinating little creatures... Glad you enjoyed the video (and glove 😂)
thats nice and I'm hungry i want to eat squid :)
i love itttttt
Keep it up yoo!! get ready for these colds months ahead",#steelhead time ❄⛄🌨🌩🎅is my present🎁
🤣 BRING IT ONNNN 🎣 So ready for some steelheading.... Will be my first!
Lol first squid in the glove giving you the finger
this guy is the best :) :)))))
I always had my buddies GF shine a spotlight in the water and I'd throw a cast net on the whole pack and usually get a bucket full. Bluefish and Stripers would empty that bucket pretty quick.
Squid fishing can be for "locals only" ha! People on the docks can definitely be territorial
They totally can!!! It's funny, half the people are quiet and territorial, the other half is hilarious and inviting! I hope we can get a party started down there on the 15th!
I like how your eating squid straight 😂
heck yeah 🤤 🦑
Used gloves to skin it out easyer, and next season bring your boat out catch squid and cook at night and enjoying the Seattle view, it the best
Great idea 🔥
DUDE! You got me laughing so hard when you took your rubber gloves as a container!! Rolling On the Floor Laughing!!!! hahahaha
Dude, I was desperate 🤣 No way I was going to give up the squid spot to get that bucket. I'd have dumped them in my backpack had I not had that glove! I didn't realize till I finished the video, that the glove was giving me the middle finger!! lol
I caught a 500 watt work light at that same spot dried it out put a new bulb in it and it worked for many years im sure it works still who ever has it that was over ten years ago
Watch out! Now someone’s gonna see this and want it back! 🤣How cool though, people pull the weirdest stuff out of the water at piers. Rarely works though!
