Yeah, cause he explains it, you know? The joke. He explains it, and I mean like everybody gets it. They already get it, you know? He doesn't have the explain this joke, and the people are already laughing "ahahaha" but he does it, and it's funny, you know, even funnier than before he explained it. @@EarthWalkerOne it's funnier when norm does it but what you just did was like a family guy level of absurd mockery to the point it no longer resembles what it's making fun of in the slightest.
What makes this joke entirely perfect, is the fact that he decided not to give it to his nephew, because he assumed his nephew would just end up killing it. So he gave it to the drunk, who ate it.
@@Catholicophobia yes, he was set to appear on the show until the Twitter mob went after Norm, then his Conan appearance (along with the other late night appearances) was canceled in response, and I don't think he's been on since.

Norm has this wonderful ability to cheese every single joke he says and still make it funny. Whenever he shows that devilish smile of his, you know it's going to be good
Well done! I love this. Yesterday I told my veterinarian sister this joke and she cracked up! The key is to explain it too. Norm MacDonald is one of the greats.
This silly dad joke dressed up as a real life anecdote has surprising layers to it. One of the things norm does which I really like is how he explains a dumb joke or something which was already fairly self-evident , after the punchline has been delivered. It just magnifies the dumbness of the whole goofy joke. I’m sure norm doesn’t do this in a planned way ; it just comes naturally and intuitively to him . Love him! He’s so effortlessly brilliant . 😅
I think his cadence and his delivery is well rehearsed, or so similar to the style he's worked on it flows, like the moth Joke, he's just got joke structure drilled into his head at this point
RIP Norm. Truly one of a kind. I was looking forward to seeing him live at Foxwoods next month. Norm had cancer for almost a decade and kept it to himself; similar to the late great Richard Farnsworth, whom Norm referenced several times for having the bravery to do so.
Thanks for animating a great Norm joke. He's one of the only comedians that can get away with telling the kind of jokes that you might hear at a party or something.
Exactly. It's all about is delivery. You can tell the most lame, corny jokes that usually wouldn't be funny told by anyone.. but his delivery somehow makes even the worst jokes hilarious. Norm is without a doubt, one of the greatest comedians of all time.
You showing the process of animating it at the end made me 👍 the video. For some reason seeing the process and fully realizing the work you put in made me respect it even more. Just thought I’d share what struck me so you could know and grow

The jokes are decent. The purposeful bumbling and unnecessary details make his comedy. Such a master.
Norm being a successful Comedian on live TV is a part of the joke.
“It was the turtle!”😂
I love how Norm’s long-form jokes are so dumb, but his little riffs and tags are so funny that the joke doesn’t even matter.

Norm going on talk shows and telling street jokes as if they are real life stories of his is always hilarious
"it was the turtle"
"We know it was the turtle!!"
That whole story just so Norm can explain, "it was the turtle", at the end. Amazing.
