  • Join me for part 1 of my journey into bag making. I'll show you some of my inspiration and where I have started and we'll talk about some of the many questions I have. In part 2, I'm thrilled to able to speak to an expert! Denise from Dee's Perdae Pieces has agreed to come visit and answer all my questions - so stay tuned for pt 2 (see some of her work at: dees-perdae-pi....
In part 3, we'll work together to make the Koda Cross-Body Bag. As of March 2024, this free pattern was available for download from the generous folks at Huff'n Cuff, but as of late May 2024, the entire Huff'n Cuff website in no longer available. (?) As it was a free pattern, I'll add the measurements of the necessary pieces as part of the description of that video. You will also need two zippers, a square ring or D-ring and a slide piece for the strap.
And finally in part 4, we'll make the Koda Cross-Body Bag again, but this time, the video is called, "No Hardware, No Problem". If you have no hardware and are not sure you want to get into bag making, this will be the project for you to test the waters and see if this is something you want to jump into.
Join me on this journey! There is so much to learn and lots of fun to be had along the way.

Thanks Cynthia! I have some fabulous fabric for a tote bag... it will be one of my first projects once my shipment arrives in a few months.

Our husbands are awesome, mine recently salvaged seatbelt webbing from a car parts salvage yard knowing it will be used.😊

Thank you for such an interesting and informative session. I will be waiting for the next two instalments. I would like to suggest you have a look at Lisa Chandler from Chandlers Cottage. She is also an awesome bag maker, quilter and fabric designer. She also has and sells bag hardware and interfacing. Check out her walkers bag. It has space for keys, phone and water bottle in a small cross body bag.

Hi Michelle! I'm looking forward to your next bag videos. I've made a few in the past, but haven't for a while, so I'm anxious to see what you've got there to show us.

Thanks Beth! It's been an adventure! Denise (next week's video) is miles ahead and makes some amazing stuff in some amazing materials. I learned a lot from our discussion.

I’ve made some wonderful bags over the years. My latest was a drawstring water bottle carrier bag made from recycled jeans, decorated with Sashiko embroidery with a zippered pocket for a phone and an alligator clip for one’s house key that slipped into another little pocket. I made it up as I went along and included everything I thought was important for that morning walk, even a safe space for a small amount of money or a card for a cup of coffee! I keen to look at that Mama Project and follow along with your bag sew along. Good one Michelle.

Hi Patricia - your bag sounds amazing! And I'd been keen for any tips you have from your experience. As you can see, I've at the very start of this stage, so still a real beginner with lots to learn. And a denim bag is a brilliant idea to help get the right weight (it doesn't always have to be all about the interfacing!!!). Thanks for watching.

Hi Michelle. I need to make a largish pencil case or something similar to hold al my scrapbooking pens in one place. I'll check out your tutorial. I subscribe to Wandee Easy Sewing on UA-cam. Another sewer that does not say a word but has very good instructions. I slow the speed down on her tutorials. I will check out the Mama Project though. I have made plenty of easy tote bags but I want to make myself a shopping bag with a zipper. My next challenge!

Have you seen the pattern of spools 🧵 the webbing you cut the lobster claw off of might make variegated thread for the spools 😂
