  • I hope you saved your off cuts from the Four Patch Trellis quilt because this is the bonus project to use them!
If you saved the off cuts and made the hourglass blocks, you are already most of the way finished with the pieces you need for this project. A bit of extra background and contrasting fabric, as well as an accent fabric and you can create this really cute table runner. With the colours I've used, I think it looks a bit like a tile floor.

Really clever way of turning the hour glass blocks.
Makes me realise you should take time to play and see what happens.
Thank you for opening up possibilities.

Thanks Claire! This was a first for me too and I think I'll take some time to see what other interesting ways these hourglasses turned into squares can be used. Thanks for watching.

Love the way you used these hourglass blocks. What a great pattern. Also love the aboriginal fabric.

Thanks Kathryn! I was looking for a setting that wasn't just more hourglasses and they practically disappear in this layout. I think there might be some major potential for other designs like this..... 🤔

Awwwww! Nice to see you, loved the aboriginal fabric….it comes across as mustard, eggplant and such…it looks to me like mosaics on a Roman Villa floor….loved the project…

Hi Ann! I agree! Even though there is a bit more work and a bit more fabric, I love reducing the overall waste on a project and getting a whole other bonus item. Thanks for watching.

Hi MIchelle! I love your table runner and it's a very smart use of the bits & pieces! I especially like the way you finished those "tiles" by adding the border.

Thanks Cynthia! I'm trying to find new ways to use these blocks and I think the hourglass really disappears in this instance and they become a checkerboard.

It takes a bit of effort to use up the off-cuts, but it feels like making something out of nothing and I love that.

Hi Katie! I save these hourglass blocks as leftovers from other projects and I'm always trying to think of new ways to use them. There are other ideas on my website in the section of free patterns. I hope you will check it out.

That's gorgeous - the Aboriginal fabric works so well with the black and white. I've been catching up on watching videos while trimming 288 tiny hourglasses (I wonder what they might be for? ;-) )

@@bitspiecesquilting I wish I'd thought to save the offcuts, but I used them in the FPP blocks. At least they didn't go to waste! 😁
