+Real Men Real Style Antonio, many people that criticize other, are projecting; they're insecure and are only trying to make others feel like them. Be Mindfull, aware of your value and allow yourself to improve. "Less is more."
Aha, I just had an old friend mock me for being a part of this community in front of a group of my friends and his friends. Bit lucky that this video went online. Thanks a lot! :)
I have been getting this a lot recently since i have started wearing a suit to my college whether i am going for some marriage function or party. I also give a big smile to that person and say "I AM DRESSED UP AND WAITING FOR MY DREAM GIRL TO PROPOSE ME". It always seems to work and lighens up the mood 😎👍🏾
One comment I hear a lot is when someone is wearing a shirt that fits properly other guys will say something like, "does that come in men's sizes?". Typically this kind of hate on non-baggy clothes comes from an urban/hip-hop standpoint or overweight guys who can't pull off fitted garments.
How do I deal with criticism? I just try to don't give any importance to the comments they make. As you said Antonio, the problem is theirs, not mine. Thanks for this great video again
Antonio, I really am so happy about how good the channel looks now. I have been a subscriber for 3-4 years now and it's so cool to see how sleek and clean the opening and ending are. Your speeches and advice can't get any better.
Antonio.. well handled and right on the money! There is a more significant undercurrent of passion in this video which illustrates to me your commitment to helping men through their fashion journey! This is the passion that keeps me coming back to your channel . One thing I always do is to consider the source of the criticism. Are they someone who’s opinion I value, how do they dress or present themselves, are they more knowledgeable than I am, do they know more than my gurus Antonio, Tanner, Hugo, Raphael, Aaron... who’s opinions I seek out and value . Thanks for all that you do and how you do it!
I am a Police Officer, I keep the uniform sharp, so I guess I am talking about the small differences around the edges that will discreetly take me to the next level.
Great tips. Bottom line is that the gentleman in question simply lacked enough confidence to make an honest assessment of the situation and ran away. Tough to improve oneself in any area that way. Thanks for sharing.
Once in an engagement party of my friend, I was dressed appropriately as per the formality, one of the guy i knew who wasn't a friend of mine but was an attendee at the party, told me i was too well dressed. I had to tell him not to feel bad for himself lol
Sometimes I get criticism because I always stand out in the group of men. My colleague tried to hit on a girl and the girl ask him to hook her up with me on the phone as a result he starts criticism my fashion senses follow he's formal style. Usually I'm dress as formal casual my shirt tucked out and master roll sleeves(learned from your *"5 Stylish Ways To Roll Shirt Sleeves*" video thanks). Soo I tucked in my shirt which makes my Mesomorph body pop out even more and it back fired him as the ladies stares at me and he didn't stood a chance.
agreed!!!! you have to be comfortable as you. have the confidence to do what is best for you. toxic people are toxic whether it be finance, clothes or so on. faced it my whole life. the real question is, is this person's opinion worth listening to.
i don't know if this happens in the US, but in my country, people who actually want to study are getting laughed upon. It can drag you down sometimes, but I've been looking forward every time. And I can say these tips are great!
I feel pretty comfortable with how I dress. And with Antonio's advice, I've been making little tweaks (i.e. srraight lacing dress shoes). The only times I ever feel uncomfortable in appearance are whenever I swap my dress shoes for sneakers when walking (as part of my daily exercise) and when I take off my dark goggles (my eyelids are partially stitched closed). So I usually keep the goggles on and hope it adds a little air of mystery. As for walking, I'll probably wear the sneakers when in parks (hopefully 100° days are behind me), but mostly if I feel like "off roading". Malls? Always dress shoes, especially at Scottsdale Fashion Square, where it feels like I see style no matter where I turn 😃 Besides, now that I've been able to recover some speed I've lost over the years as I've focused on my health, I hope to impress with my speed in dress shoes!
Sorry to hear that guy left the group, you can't do what Aaron, yourself and other youtubers do and survive if you have a thin skin. Perhaps you are the right person to emphasize such a point.
Keep putting out the awesome content Antonio! It's only been getting better as time goes on, and I just wanted to thank you for putting in the time and effort to bring this to us! :)
My first step is always to face to the critic. Especially when it comes to clothing I ask the person gently what he/she really dislikes and how they would change it. If they aren't really able to answer the question it's a matter of fact, that they just wanted to criticize for criticism.
Antonio you haven't touched on the flip side. That sometimes criticism is done with a good intention. All criticism doesn't come from a negative source. I've seen many people who simply refuse to take criticism ignoring the fact that some maybe valid concerns that if followed, may have ultimately contributed positively to the overall outlook. By the way, I can't help but think somehow this video was aimed at me haha (I know it wasn't) but the other day I said ear rings on a man never looks good and you corrected me and said it can look good. Here's a request - please do a video on learning to take criticism in the most productive way. I think it will be valuable for us to hear some of your words on it. Anyway, just wanted to point that out.
I am a woman but I thought this video was excellent. I paid about twice my usual amount on a better bob haircut and last night just because one person critisised it, I was going to change it but if I think about it at least 10 people have complimented me on it incl. my boyfriend and people at work. My ex was very confident to wear suits etc (he managed to find designer ones second hand) and I really admired him for it. Thanks for the video.
Great video and great advice I am a member of your face book and the best things is that it always give me new ideas also I just did some meditation and at my job with some Buddhist monks a few days ago
***** ?? Streetwear is T-shirts, sweaters, sneakers and that kind of stuff whereas workwear would be more like button down shirts and chinos or a suit idk that's what I think ;)
Sir, I am a 16 years old guy, I only wear dress shirts and trousers , I don't own any jeans or casual clothes, What should I do to deal with the critics?
You're comfortable with how you dress and they're comfortable with how they dress. You simply hold yourself to a higher standard because you're not satisfied with the bare minimum or "goog enough". You want the best for yourself 😃
Very simple way to deal with it: Look who says it to you NOT what he says. I am giving an example: Somebody criticise my style who dresses worse than you.. I dont listen to him because he probably tries to pull me down. I had a colleague who criticised my style. He wears T-shirts with jeans, sneakers. I wear shirt with chinos and nice shoes. We both knew that I have better style, so I just dont care about what he says...

Antonio I constantly receive criticism from people for wearing a leather jacket from vegan/vegetarians I tend to ignore it however it has gotten to a point of harassment any advice on how to make it stop? I am always the sort of person to go of my own judgements but to remain open to other perspectives however I personally feel they have no right to tell me what to wear when I don't dictate to them.
On the household money front, I'll throw this out there. I'm in the process of upgrading my small (relatively fuel efficient) Jeep to a half tonne pickup, which will roughly double my weekly fuel expense. I've made the switch palatable in the family budget almost dollar for dollar by knocking out the daily cafe lunch. $10/day x 5 days = $50 into the truck. They always say marriage is about compromise, right? In the industry I call home, owning a half tonne truck is not unlike wearing a well cut suit in the professional sectors, I imagine the $ logic translates likewise.
I had (emphasis on 'had') a significant other who trotted out the 'why are you buying that (something I NEEDED) when you could be spending money on this (something to benefit her that she WANTED)? Do you not see how selfish that is?' line. I just pointed out the level of selfishness she was displaying.
Actually i just bought a new amazing blazer and although i dont care of what others will think of me upgrading my own look, i do afraid since no one is wearing a blazer at my work that will be "too much" for others or even for my company...
Whenever I get any sort of public criticism, I use it as a teaching moment for the rest of the people watching me. When you stop and think about it, I have 150 people watching me a day and I might get 1 or 2 negative comments. How insignificant of a percentage is it in the long run? You dont cut your foot off after stubbing your toe.
Great video! I have a problem when looking for a new suit with lapel gaping. Does this mean the suit is too small? If so, would I be better going for the next suit size up and getting it tailored down to fit better?
Antonio, question, i struggle finding semi-business-casual comfortable outfits for a casual working environment. I work in a tech company were most ppl dress in t-shirts and bland jeans. Recently i got promoted and i feel like i also need to promote my look a bit. Any ideas how to dress up a notch, what type of button up shirts to buy and what type of pants and shoes to pair them up with. The aim is not to appear too formal, not like I just came back from a job interview. If it's not a straight up answer, maybe it'd be a good idea for a video :)
Hey Matt, great hearing from you. These articles should help: www.realmenrealstyle.com/navy-suit-five-ways/ and www.realmenrealstyle.com/5-outfits-polo/
Love the video Antonio.. I'm not a facebook fan.. I am more of a twitter and Instagram user. Antonio cab you give me direction on how to dress while at daddy duties I mean kids should not stop you or kill your style to look good right? Details is good. *"Style is forever!!"* Thank you Antonio
oh sure, I thought you could make a video about the latest fashion, colors and style for this winter. the way you present is very interesting. regards.
Hey Antonio I have a question. My father is looking for some casual shoes that he can were with jeans but he doesn't want any sort of sneakers of dress shoes. Any tips?
Antonio,a request here. You make great videos, and it would be really appreciated if you add tutorials on style, how to dress, deconstructing the style of Kanye West,Will Smith,Bruno Mars. You know it well the colour combination that works for a fairer skin tone wouldn't work for a black skin tone. I know of the collaboration you once made to produce a book, maybe some videos customized for the darker skin, but it ain't on UA-cam,the place where most of your following spends most of their time. Hoping you oblige to create content on this category too.
I have a small advice for all of you too. Look at the man/woman who is criticizes you. Who is he/she? Somebody important, style couch, or your boss? No? So dont worry about it. If Antonio Centeno came and told you: "You look terrible". it is serious, because he know about fashion and style much more than you or me. And that's all.
I usually tend to avoid any criticism that isn't constructive by usually ignoring it. However sometimes you have to evaluate it. Is there some truth to it? Regardless I never let it effect me unless its family. Stay confident
I'm in law school and I need to carry a lot of books around all day. I'm using a 35 Liter backpack now, which is quite large and it just doesn't look that good when I try to dress sharp. What should I use?
My father dresses very boring and for a long time he never understood why I wanted to dress with such a classic timeless style but recently he's been asking me for advice
Being in the military, the uniform doesn't provide much opportunity for my peers to see my preferred style. Not long ago, my peers and I were invited to dinner with the group commander. Dress code was 'casual.' I wore khakis and a red gingham dress shirt. When I walked in the door, I had two peers offer excuses on why they weren't dressed up as I was. A third said I 'cleaned up good'. My first point is in line with Antonio's. . . it was not my problem. They were uncomfortable, and it was their problem. Second has to do with being mindful. And it's not with you being mindful, but the critics not being mindful. YOU have done your homework and selected pieces that compliment each other. The critic probably is offering a quick and uneducated opinion. I bought a jacket a little over a year ago. I purchased it because it was light weight and breathable (linen) and 3/8 lined (even better) which is ideal for the warm climate I live in. I read a review afterwards, and the reviewer berated the jacket because it was 'see through' and 'not properly lined' Had she paid attention, she would have realized these traits were not secret and she got exactly what was advertised. She didn't do her homework. I guess my second point, when dealing with the critics, is are they really qualified to critique?
I wouldn't say qualified. People are always going to have an opinion about something. Even if their qualified to critic, it's all about how you deal with it.
I'm 17 and love experimenting with style.. My mom is my biggest critic xD It's hard trying to dress like a man when my own mom is telling me I have to dress like a boy. Once I was wearing a gray fitting tshirt, white shorts, and brown wingtips.. She got upset that I was wearing nice shoes.. TO CHURCH! xD
My parents are still together.. my dad is usually at work which means I usually deal with my mom. I've learned more about being a man from my "mentors" "other fathers" than from my real dad, at least some of the biggest things that make me me.
Michael Mone that is a blessing to have both parents and mentors to guide u. U keep up with what u r doing it will pay off and I am sure your dad likes your sharp dress style.
Hey Antonio, two days ago I sended a request to join your facebook group. I do not know how active you are in this group, but I would really like to join. I am still young, but I always want to improve myself and be the best man I can be ! I would appreciate it, if you would allow me to enter the group, or if not at least to tell me why not. Great video as always, I like the meditation point.
I got tired of humans' bs, sometimes even your intentions is good, there's always someone who thinks that you're bad especially when you're doing better then them, they'll will just think that you're arrogant. Because we constantly improving ourselves will make them feel insecure and jealous sometimes. If I know I'm doing the right thing, I will just ignore the critics cause I won't let that 1/7.4 billion affects me. Be real, humans only care about themselves.
I can sense the concern in your tone. Just goes to show your passion for men style. Thumbs up sir!
:)

+AKC Land That's the spirit! Confidence is the key.
Nice empowering words. I always tell young people I mentor to apply Tip 1: Criticism is about them not about you
Solid point!
Yeah, I dressed up for picture day at school, some kid told me to not tuck in my shirt since it looks dumb. First thing I did was laugh
Look, he's just a kid. He'll probably learn the importance and the joy to dress up in the days to come.
Conan Chi yup. he said that you only tuck in dress shirts when you wear a tux lol

Agreed. Less is more.
"less is more" mies van der robe. "less is a bore" Robert Venturi. "I am a whore" Phillip Johnson...
99.99% of the time when people comment negatively about you dressing nicely, it is because they are insecure about the way they look.
I agree. In general, one man caring about what another man wears is unusual behavior and grounds to have his man-card revoked.

Can u make a vid on fall/winter street wear
He isn't really a street wear youtuber...
If you're looking for a UA-camr that specializes in street-wear, you might wanna check out Richie Le. He also has a video on fall styling tips.
maybe because he is a teenager or it might be his own choice, maybe his job is street related?
***** ?? Streetwear is T-shirts, sweaters, sneakers and that kind of stuff whereas workwear would be more like button down shirts and chinos or a suit idk that's what I think ;)

This right here.. is why I'll never leave RMRS.
Thanks Jordy!
Sir, I am a 16 years old guy, I only wear dress shirts and trousers , I don't own any jeans or casual clothes, What should I do to deal with the critics?
F those guys your doing great things sir
You're comfortable with how you dress and they're comfortable with how they dress. You simply hold yourself to a higher standard because you're not satisfied with the bare minimum or "goog enough". You want the best for yourself 😃
laugh at them as you pass them up in the ranks because they are to afraid to look awesome
I must say, you can look daper and casual.
+Cyber Sapiens Wear clothes that you're comfortable in. Don't let critics dictate what you wear.
great sir helped a lot
Very simple way to deal with it:

can you tell me what type of material or pattern it is. I want to get one like that.

Buy faux leather
Solves both problems
Forget faux leather, you need to look at his last video and stop giving a damn. Wear leather everything and make it obvious
I would say ignore it. Don't let it get to you.
Thanks all for the advice. Decided to just rock on with my own look and style as it works for me.

Thanks Antonio.
There's always a polite way of doing things. So maybe sing them "When you say nothing at all" just to shut them up is my 6th tip.
+Kim Sokrith Yes, there is.

+Benjamin Ehng Thank you.

+polasheck Cheers UK!
can you please tell us about the trends for this winter?
+ali alhashemy I personally go for classy styles rather than trends. Check out fashionbeans.com or GQ for it.
oh sure, I thought you could make a video about the latest fashion, colors and style for this winter. the way you present is very interesting.
regards.
Hey Antonio I have a question. My father is looking for some casual shoes that he can were with jeans but he doesn't want any sort of sneakers of dress shoes. Any tips?
+MarshallsTutorials&Reviews Slip ons or loafers :)
does somebody know what post it was?
Is it possible to have a video about how to still look sharp if you have to wear a uniform at work?
Can you be more specific? What industry are you in?
Nice intro!
Antonio,a request here. You make great videos, and it would be really appreciated if you add tutorials on style, how to dress,
deconstructing the style of Kanye West,Will Smith,Bruno Mars.
You know it well the colour combination that works for a fairer skin tone wouldn't work for a black skin tone.
I know of the collaboration you once made to produce a book, maybe some videos customized for the darker skin,
but it ain't on UA-cam,the place where most of your following spends most of their time.
Hoping you oblige to create content on this category too.
Did you watch my collaboration with Ashley Weston? www.realmenrealstyle.com/dark-complexion-style/
yes I did-also watched the one on James bond
I have a small advice for all of you too. Look at the man/woman who is criticizes you. Who is he/she? Somebody important, style couch, or your boss? No? So dont worry about it. If Antonio Centeno came and told you: "You look terrible". it is serious, because he know about fashion and style much more than you or me. And that's all.
+Jakub Chovančák Point taken.
I usually tend to avoid any criticism that isn't constructive by usually ignoring it. However sometimes you have to evaluate it. Is there some truth to it? Regardless I never let it effect me unless its family. Stay confident
Good point! Confidence is the key.
Name of the music at 0:35?
Great video
+Jamesthacoolcat99 ,Jane
Thanks James
I like when people criticize me , cuz i feel important :) (even If i don't care about them )
+Mihnea Capastru I see what you did there.
Great vid!
Thanks Elizabeth!
Can you make a video about bags?
Can you be more specific?
I'm in law school and I need to carry a lot of books around all day. I'm using a 35 Liter backpack now, which is quite large and it just doesn't look that good when I try to dress sharp. What should I use?
My biggest critic is my father. He questions a lot of the things I buy.
My father dresses very boring and for a long time he never understood why I wanted to dress with such a classic timeless style but recently he's been asking me for advice
+Tanner Lynn Parents are always there to ask why you're doing things.
I meditate in Prayer.
+Cameron Kiesser Sounds good
Comment #10 getting that upset about the style someone else wears: _"What's wrong? Tell us how you really feel..."_
Say thank you and that will throw them off. Because they want to upset you
+Vernon Mines Good point!
Antonio on school the guys dont like it and they let me know but the girls like the why i dress what should i do?:(
It's not your problem it's theiers.
So keep it up!
It's not your problem. Ignore them. If you're comfortable with it- then continue doing it.
TO CHURCH! xD
Michael Mone a woman can't raise a man
My parents are still together.. my dad is usually at work which means I usually deal with my mom.
It saddens me that in today's society, a man can't be well dressed without him at some point being accused of being gay.
Hey Antonio,
two days ago I sended a request to join your facebook group. I do not know how active you are in this group, but I would really like to join.
I am still young, but I always want to improve myself and be the best man I can be !
I would appreciate it, if you would allow me to enter the group, or if not at least to tell me why not.
Great video as always, I like the meditation point.
+Nils Lang You're never too young or too old to join the Facebook group. Just follow the guidelines there.
+Yiyang Loo Exactly! You can't make everybody happy.
i love this intro too much...my girlfriend says its weird
