Thank you for sharing. It’s Dec 2020. I live in CA. I just put some bulbs in pot and have them on a covered patio. I haven’t watered them yet. I’ll wait until January. I got a late start this year. I like the way you did the double layer. Blessings 🙏🏾
Project Diaries HI there I'm one of your subscribers with disabilities and totally agree gardening is good for soul and did my gardening before I got ill but I've had that very question over the years and it's great for depression and anxiety from personal experience.. I wanted to say thank you for taking the time to make these videos! Tulips are a joint favourite and I've never seen that trick I will definitely try it when I can.. joint 1st next to dahlias I grow from seed too I try to grow all our plants/crops from the previous year seed collection.. can you please do a video or give advice on what not to plant in a trug/ plants to grow to repel foxes? We have urban foxes partial to bulbs especially if you didn't know tulips, gladioli.. Hope grandad is in good health and awesome that you keep eye on him and help him.. all the best from South East London ❤😁
Better to be happy than miserable, eh? Just bought urumeinsis, orange dynasty, rococo and princess irene tulips. Found this vid very useful thank you 😘
Just got some pink tulips for Valentine’s Day. Imagine how excited I was to see that my favorite UA-cam channel has a how to for tulips. (Happy dancing).
You made it better by taking the time to explain how to plant tulips, and, weather like conditions, etc. Thanks for the upload. This is by far the best how to plant tulips, video, i've seen. Thank you very much!!
This is a great video. Can you layer Gladiolus the same way in a container? Can you also do an update showing how the tulips came out in Spring? Thanks
Project Diaries Yes it sure does. You have a nice aura and maybe your plants know it. That’s why you’re so successful. How are you feeling? How’s your heart?
Thank you for great advice, esp as we live on a Welsh mountaintop! I too have managed depression/illness over the years and there is nothing like gardening to lift the black dragon & give me a real sense of accomplishment :) PS I assume that I can bury the container of bulbs in my raised bed for winter? Cheers!
Hi awesome video, I am in Toronto, Canada. I was wondering if I could put bulbs in top of each other and this video answered my question. I have a questions , now in month if May, my friends gave me tulip bulbs they have already flowered but I told her to keep the leaves on it. Please advise me, should I plant them in my garden or containers with leaves on and let the leaves get dry so bulbs can restore energy OR I should take off the leaves and store the bulbs in containers as you showed and leave them in my cold room or garage ( not heated though). OR please advise what is my best option leave them in garden by planting them in soil or containers and leave them out for coming winter. Thank you!
Great Video! We live in Canada and experience harsh winters. Would it be okay to bring the containers inside to the cold cellar for the winter instead of burying them in the ground?
Tulips are so lovely, but I’ve had a difficult time growing them in the landscape because they need to be planted in the fall for sufficient chill hours and that gives too much time for squirrels 🐿 to find and eat them. I think next fall I’m going to try to grow some in protected containers covered in mesh or topped with sharp gravel. Bye for now. 🌷
Good video indeed ! I bought the tulip plant pot recently for spring and it bloomed as well.. But after then the plant looks so sick and I have no clues how to protect the plant until next spring.. I live in condo and not able to burry it up in the ground.. tips please
I followed this and now enjoying the beautiful flowers. I want to go this again , can I buy the bulbs now though? Also, should I dig my old bulbs after flowering? Thanks.
Tulips just comming out growing just great for the first time trying . I used multipurpose compost with added john innes +perlite and some slow release pelleted fertiliser thanks a lot Do i liquid fertilise now they are starting to flower?
Ethan Schlacter hi ya I don't know where you're from but I grow lilies and there's two tips for you ..one if you have urban foxes don't use blood fish and bone fertiliser they love it and will destroy anything you plant (I had a poly greenhouse and mistakenly left the remainder inside they tore a hole in it and took the box aswell!) And they like eating the bulbs too along with tulips and gladioli I found those were planted this year (no bone mix)and bulbs still taken.. lastly watch out for Lily beetles they about the size of ladybugs and look like they're painted bright red left to feed they lay eggs on the soil/compost and destroy the growing lilies completely the best way is to supposedly kill them or use an spray recommended but Google will give you more info on treatment good luck I have stargazers they're stunning good luck! 😁😉
Again very informative and fun. Can you please do a video on onions next. I planted some a few weeks back but they keep falling flat (like something was laying down on them) and my beetroots are doing the same. Any advice?
I'm still growing Onions for I can't finish the video until they are done. My Beets do exactly the same and this is normal. They straighten up once the rot veg developed more
Just received from tulip bulbs from holland and plan to plant them in containers! came across your video! Just wondering, as the instructions that came with my bulb says that they should be planted approximately 15 cm in depth and 8 cm apart from each other. Alot of the videos I saw like yours doesn't plant them as far part. Thats alright right?
Sorry you didn't get a reply in time for this season. I can tell you what I have done. We had a small shed and I was able to place bags of soil, manure, and mulch around under and on top of the containers. You can use insulation as well. Stuff empty spaces with straw, old rags etc... In an apartment we had a outdoor storage closet and I was able to use that. Being in TX now, I no longer have that issue but have a store bought tulip plant that is yellowing and need to try and save it. Great information here for planting though!
As I say in the Video, between 0 - 30°c is fine. Any less or more will have issues. Try to not use black containers as they will hold the heat more. Good luck and let me know how you get on...
Hi I know it is an oldish video but if you did this again last year, could you show us an update? I am growing tulips at the moment but I did not put as many as you did because, as you said some people recommend to leave space. I would like to have more next time so I am wondering how your tulips looks like :) Thanks!!
Good video, greetings from Algeria where I can't plant this beautiful flowers i_i 😔 we don't have this kind of flowers over here and I believe the weather doesn't help growing them as the winter is not too cold ❄ maybe one day I can see them. I Love this flowers, I hope they grow nicely 🤗
Yes there are many like iris, jasmine's, roses , carnations lovely flowers too and many others. But tulips are just so beautiful, simple yet elegant ^_^ . Good day to you sir. (btw i believe it's 1:30 am in the morning, you should rest a bit.. :/ )
Some lovely varieties there :) You are correct. I've suffered from insomnia most of my life so this feels like mid afternoon. It's the only time i get to upload and edit my videos without interruption. I like the quiet early am :)
Thank you for providing an informative and interesting resource on tulip-growing. Enjoyable, easily watchable, and well-produced all around. Suggestions for improvement: The dishy British dude is wearing far too much clothing. It is very distracting. I am worried for him, thinking he might perhaps suffer a heat stroke or pass out, due to the many layers of heavy clothes he is swaddled in. For his own safety, and to put the minds of his viewers at ease, I believe he should host his next video in his underwear. I mean, for his own good you know.
It's winter and snowing right now so no but I'm currently forcing them so they should flower soon. You can get a sneak peak in this video :) ua-cam.com/video/OMBpV5_bS9g/v-deo.html
The bird’s beautiful singing really added into the mood💜🌷

Χαίρομαι τόσο πολύ όταν βλέπω νέους ανθρώπους να ασχολούνται με την κηπουρική και ιδιαίτερα με λουλούδια να είσαι πάντα καλά και να αγαπάς ότι κάνεις
Why are you always so happy?
Love your videos, always cheer me up x
Good to hear! :D Gardening helps fight depression and anxiety so i'm always happy when i'm filming :)

Schiatze Schiatze How often did you water the bulbs while waiting for Spring?
Awesome if you have an update of them blooming that would be amazing no worries if not your doing fantastic
Interesting video! Can we plant the same way and will it work if we are living in Asia with the hot and humid weather throughout the entire year?
No. You will need to find many other flowers that will grow in your climate :)
How often do you water the bulbs while waiting for Spring?

NellyVegan Cooper thx so much for the advice :D
Hi Lee how often should I water them.
As long as the Soil is moist you don't need to water them at all throughout the winter. Just in Spring when it warms up
Project Diaries if we reached to spring how often should I water them ?
i planted two bulbs given to me, and I now have about 20 bulbs wth? how can I plant them in the water rock containers like the store?
I’m in zone 7 is it too late to plant tulip bulbs
Looks like u can grow some hydroponic good stuff! I loved your video! Thank you for sharing!
I won't be touching hydroponic. Homemade compost if far superiors and free :)
Again very informative and fun. Can you please do a video on onions next. I planted some a few weeks back but they keep falling flat (like something was laying down on them) and my beetroots are doing the same. Any advice?

I have all purpose compost, will this grow my tulips?

The Dutch bulbs always have that on their packaging, its probably the best if they do get a little space but they will grow anyway.
Anaïs thank you for your reply! I just realised my apartment don’t receive direct sunlight. Would that be a problem?
Can I plant different bulbs on the second row instead of tulips
Depends. If they are a later blooming bulbs then put them on the top. If they are earlier plant them on the bottom :)

is it possible to grow tulips in a country with a hot climate ?
No, They need to be stratified. Unless you can do it using cold storage systems and monitor the temperatures
bummer ...it's my favorite flower

So where is the end result, mate?
Where r u from ?
Can these be grown in the Caribbean?
I don't think so, They need a cold period. How cold do your winters get?
@@ProjectDiaries Caribbean is tropical. No winters.
Yes! Keep bulbs in refrigerator during winter then plant.
Will tulips grow in Sri Lanka?
Why don't you get some pebbles from the beach? This will save soil and give better drainage
