Hello, Joanna. Hello to you 🕊⚘ You happened almost a year ago, and I wrote you a comment in Arabic on this wonderful video about the wonderful Keukenhof Garden. Now I turn on the translat. for the English language. And this helps me a lot in exchanging culture with everyone in the world and this is very useful. Dear Joanna, I don't know if you were aware of it, that Keukenhof Park this year 2024 will celebrate 75 years since its opening this season, as it is expected to be an exceptional event. 75 years means the diamond jubilee I think. So I searched for this beautiful video to tell you about this upcoming event. Greetings Maher from Israel🕊⚘
Beautiful selection of tulips 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷 I will be planting my 500 spring bulbs next week ..in Ireland A lot of spring bulbs planted from September onwards ..up till Christmas ..
You gotta be one of the most underrated gardening channel out there. I love how you explain everything and the passion you put into what you do. I’ve a very small garden and this fall I’ll be planting 1200 bulbs, in containers and mostly on ground. I’ll be trying random “meadow”, lasagne on ground and lines. Let’s see how it goes
Omg your comment truly made my day, thank youuu that’s so so kind ❤️🥰!!! Oh wow 1200 will give you a glorious show - I’d love to see a picture next year if you’re happy to share!! Happy planting 🌷
Hi Becca, I’m so glad you found it helpful!! Do drop me any questions or video ideas in the comments (or on Instagram @bobbiostudio) of other content you’d find helpful 😊😘 happy gardening!!
😁 It’s possible ! We moved once to a more rural area in the UK at the end of 2022 ua-cam.com/video/vI9sD95Zb80/v-deo.html And then again shortly after to France early 2023 - from there everything is in the French garden ! ua-cam.com/video/EkAvL1819U0/v-deo.html The video ‘Top Tips to plant tulips’ was filmed in the UK 😊 (it’s from planting bulbs back in 2022) but YT will show you old videos sometimes ! Have a great weekend 😘🥰
Hi Johanna. Wow, you persevered through the icy frosty days of winter to plant those beautiful spring bulb containers....yahoo! So excited to see the fruits of your frosty labor. Hope you were able to enjoy a cup of tea by a warm fire 😊. Thank you much for your garden inspiration.
Thank you so much Darrylin 🥰 definitely took a lot of tea and coffee break during planting!! Making fires in the evening is so lovely 🥰 I hope the bulbs come up next Spring, the weather has been crazy!!
Love your video! And it’s super beautiful landscape near your home. Since Im a fresh starter, I wonder if you still can replant all these bulbs next year? And I heard from my local nursery shop that daffodils are only annual. ❤❤
It depends on your climate: the bulbs need a period of cood to rebloom so if you live in a warm part of the world then yes, you’ll probably have to plant again every year 😊
I just came across your video on planting bulbs duro child temperatures. I have a question, how do i know how my bulbs are doing until spring bloom? They did grow plenty of roots. Also, how often do I water the bulbs, if it's necessary during the Winter? Thanks
When using fertilizer you should put it down and then put a layer of soil over the fertilizer then place your bulbs. The roots are on the bottom of the bulb and will go down below the fertilizer.
Hello! Quick question: do all of the containers, metal and the other white and green containers- do those all have holes in the bottom or no holes? Thanks for the great and inspiring content!
Bulbs are pretty hardy normally in the ground but they can be more vulnerable to harsh conditions in containers. I don’t have a lot of experience with long periods of frosts (it was pretty exceptional) but the main problem is lack of water (when the bulbs starts growing) when the ground freezes which can have an impact on the blooms. You can cover with fleece but you’ll have to be careful about the bulbs still getting enough light and moisture to grow. I would mulch and shelter them from wind, maybe near a wall to help protect them and group them all together. Keep en eye on them🤞
Hi Joanna, thanks your video hrlped a lot about tulips plantation, I bought tulip bulbs in month if november and thinking of planting them, but the temperature is already -10 here, now i am thinking to store these bulbs in garage till January. But the question is should I store just my tulip bulbs in some box without any soil or plant them Layer them with soil and put in garage?
Hello, sorry for the slow reply. If you can’t plant them, keep them in their packaging, in a dark, cool, dry and frost-free place (garage sounds good). Plant no later than January (you’ll probably have blooms a bit later). Good luck 🤞
Yes I added a specialised bulb starter fertiliser to accelerate root growth 😊 I haven't truly compared blooms with or without but I've had good results when applying it. I also apply fertiliser in early spring before blooms so that the leaves (and therefore the bulb) can be fed and increase the chance of re-flowering next year 🌷

Hello, from Texas, I planted Tulips and daffodils at the same time, the tulip our about 6 inches out of the ground but no sign of the daffodils, is that normal?
Hi Lynn! That could be because you have early Tulips and/or late blooming daffodils which could explain that. Possibly your Tulips are planted in a sunnier area? That will make them grow faster! So long as your daffodil bulbs were firm to the touch when you planted, they should bloom fine 😊😘
@@bobbiostudio I appreciate your quick response. The daffodils were firm and healthy and plants them in the same spot as the tulips and it is a sunny area. I love ❤️ your videos, very informative. I can't wait to see your 2023 spring video!!
Update it's 2024, I did everything wrong last year🙄. Some tulips came up and other didn't. I moved to a different state, it snows where I live now. I have 420 bulbs I'm going to plant this weekend!!
Hello 👋 typically tulips in borders don’t need to be watered but that might depend on your climate! Here in the UK, only water after prolonged dry spells (more than 2/3 weeks) and get the soil moist (not soggy - tulips hate sitting in wet soil!). Hope that helps xx
No that’s not necessary, mostly aesthetic although that does give you an added layer of protection against frost. You can leave the soil bare, mulch if planting in a flower bed and even sow grass over them if you want a meadow effect. Hope that helps 😘
No 😊 (unless you have very very heavy clay soil that doesn’t drain - then it would have been better to add grit to help with drainage) In fact if it doesn’t rain enough you might have to water them 😇 Hope you’ll get lots of wonderful blooms xx 🌷
Well, I actually could have waited until the cold snap was over but if the soil is not frozen you can still plant in December and early January! It’s actually recommended to plant some spring bulbs (mostly tulips) after the first frost or when soil temperatures have dropped below 10d Celsius consistently to reduce the risk of tulip fire caused by a soil borne fungi 😊

Keep your potting soil in your garage so it doesn’t freeze. I lasagned all my bulbs this year. Tulips, daffodils, allium, muscari and crocuses.

Yes and yes ! Drainage is key for happy bulbs as pooling water can cause them to rot. Thank you so much for your support 🙏🥰
I’m making containers in zone 7b. Do I need to cover and wrap the containers in frost fleece?

I have a question, when you plant tulip bulbs directly in the ground, do I need to cover the ground on top? Or just leave alone?
No that’s not necessary, mostly aesthetic although that does give you an added layer of protection against frost. You can leave the soil bare, mulch if planting in a flower bed and even sow grass over them if you want a meadow effect. Hope that helps 😘

Did you have drainage holes or gravel in the bottom of the ceramic pot??
Great question, I should have mentioned it - all pots have drainage (including the metal ones). Tulips hate having yet feet 🌷
After planting the bulbs in the pot do we water the pot.
Yes you can if there is no rain on the forecast - also make sure to raise the pot on feet to allow for good drainage xx
When do you water your container of tulip Bulbs?
So sorry for the late reply 😔 Normally I don’t (it’s pretty rainy where I live) but you can water every few weeks or its really dry
So if you planted these in winter..did they grow that Spring or the following Spring?
😬 planting in fall of year Y means blooms in spring of Y+1
Wont the rust hurt the plants?
I don’t think so but I don’t any evidence either way 😊
