Good god man , you are so blessed. If ever i needed a double dose of amazing, lovely, spectacular, peaceful, and calming this was the video . The look back at spring and the music somehow transported me to better times. God bless you!
@@nemkini We are aware that the production of tulips and other bulbs has its downsides, but a solution must be found. Maybe we should reduce the use of pesticides and increase the price of bulbs that are not expensive anyway.
Hi all, I followed his method exactly last year and had a great success rate. I live in zone 7, and placed them under the bench on my covered porch throughout winter. I could have placed them in my unheated garage, but I didn’t want to risk inviting critters there. Tip: You may need to cover the pots with chicken wire or plastic sheets if you have squirrels in your area.
I've never had much luck growing tulips in pots-they end up rotting. Perhaps because I left them exposed to our -30 Canadian winters with lots of snow. I will take your suggestion and cover them this year in a much more sheltered spot. Fingers crossed that I, too, will have beautiful pots to beatify my front door. Thank you for sharing. Looking forward to the book.
Same, I tried last year in window boxes and a lot of them rotted, I wonder if I tried terra cotta planters if it might be a different outcome? (Southwestern Ontario)
Thank you so much for putting the names of the plants/tulips as they appear. Very clear and easy to see, and so helpful. I could watch the videos time and time again.
What a heavently garden! What a stylish choose of amazing plants❤️ Thanks a lot for Your advices and one special huge gratitude for the indication of flower varieties❤️
Beautiful flowers, beautiful music, and wonderful gardening advice. Thank you Claus for your much appreciated respites in a world that doesn't make much sense right now.
You inspired me last year with your beautiful pots of bulbs. I did eight containers and layered them. What a show piece and just absolutely a joy for me and my neighbors. Thank you for your great tips!
Thanks for the key tips on covering the containers. Also, I never thought about packing in 20 bulbs on a 12 inch diameter container either; that’s what makes it look fuller.
I am so inspired by your potted flowers after seeing them on Instagram. I am starting a journey to learn this from you, so that I can grow lots of beautiful colours to bring light and delight to people walking by, the same way that I feel when I saw yours on Instagram. 😊
I tried tulips for the first ime last year. I only had plastic pots and planted about 10. I planted in November and they started to appear really early...in February😐 And I planted them maybe too close to the top of the pot. I covered the pots with fishing net to keep the squirrels away. They came up beautifully but they were rather early and didn't last more than a month or so. I'm going to go per your instruction this time. Thank you, sir. This video was a joy to behold!! Ahhh, I just caught the end and you revealed to me I had planted tulips which were called "Queen of the night"❤
I bought your beautiful book which came on Thursday, and I've recommended it to many friends, photographers and gardeners. Its pages, so full of glorious coloured photos are really helpful with plant names too. Thank you Claus for publishing this lovely book.
So glad I watched this video last year. I took your advice and covered my pots planted with tulip bulbs. In the past the bulbs would rot out because I didn't cover them. This year my pots are full of gorgeous tulip leaves sprouting. I am anxiously waiting for the beautiful blooms. Thanks Mr. Dalby.
Thank you so much for talking about how to grow tulips in pots. I planted tulips in pots and put them outside did not cover them and alas, they did not produce any flowers, and when I looked into the soil, they were disappeared. Like you said they rotted in the soil 😮! Thanks to you now I know better😊
This is the first of his videos I have watched although I have been following him for longer on Instagram… I knew I would like him as soon as his dog walked into the video LOL
Good afternoon sir,I am very happy to see you to plant the Tulip from the bulbs.I really love the Tulip 🌷, especially many different colors. And thanks with your great explanation in English.Stay safe, sir.Love❤️☘️🍀🙏🌍
Dear Claus, thanks a lot for this tutorial! It‘s perfect! Now I know the diameter of the pot and how many bulbs it contains. The video is very inspiring. Next week I‘ll go on a hunt for beautiful white and pink tulip bulbs. I also love the idea of using red salad in the arrangement. Your hint for well watering and than covering the pots is great!
Thank you Claus I now know why I have not been successful with pots and tulips in the past. I have a large order of Dutch bulbs waiting in my garage for planting and now I have the knowledge for success ! I will let you know how I get on in the spring 2022. 😍😎🇫🇷
Those flowers were spectacular 😊. I’ve just planted tulips in pots for the first time and now realise that I haven’t watered them anywhere near as much as I should have! Thanks for a great educational video.
That’s exactly what happened to my tulips last year because I left my pots outside all winter and the drainage holes got frozen shut and every single bulb rotted and I ended up with nothing this spring, thank you 🙏 for talking about what I did wrong
I think he watered too much. It is very important to know your zone. I think he lives in a less harsh winter region. that is why he could do what he did. I live in Zone4 in the US. Last Fall I planted tulips in big pot and kept them outside until 3 weeks after the frost around Christmas time. Then I moved the pot in the garage against the outside wall. In the coldest time during the winter, that spot was 26--28 degrees. I moved the pot out when night temperature was around 30. I got great bloom. I failed many times before last year. The tulips do need a few weeks of below freezing temperature,
I'm so excited to try my hand at planting bulbs in containers! It makes me so happy to see tulips, hyacinths, and crocus' in the spring after a long winter! Thank you Claus!!
I planted my pots last week and put them in an unheated dark basement. I think I should water them again as I did not pour so much water as shown here. Very informative video.:)
This will be the year I plant my tulips in pots thanks to your advise. I just watched your UA-cam chat with Linda Vater and immediately ordered your book. Can’t wait to read it cover to cover. Thank you for sharing your love of gardening.
Just wonderful to see all your tulip display with lovely tune in the background. Really makes me dream of spring ❤️👍🏻Thank you for making this video for us
I had no idea how many pots you use. Since squirrels like to dig up my bulbs, I'm looking forward to planting them in containers using your helpful hints. I love the lettuce you grow in containers. I can't wait to finally get your book published in English.
I tried this last fall with daffodils, some of them grew the stems but no flowers. I left the pot out all winter. I’m in zone 5. I think this year I will try again and put them in the shed. Yours are beautiful. Thanks for sharing. I’ve been waiting for this video😊
I tried with daffodils and tulips and most of them rotted. For some reason I was under the impression they would need to be watered throughout the winter. I thought because bulbs in the ground get so much moisture with all the rain and snow, I figured in containers they would need some water too. I am also in zone 5. I will try again this winter and cover them.
Thank you so much its wonderful how you had the footage from how they looked last spring. This really helped me understand. This is a great tutorial many thanks 😊
Thank you! All of your videos are so informative. I purchased 360 bulbs to plant this Fall, some in containers and some in my garden. Already looking forward to spring 🌷

would putting them in an unheated shed work too? im in the same zone as you.

I think they just get too much water. Same for me last year ... I also want to try mixing in some grit so the soil is drained better
Same, I tried last year in window boxes and a lot of them rotted, I wonder if I tried terra cotta planters if it might be a different outcome?

A good rule of thumb to follow when planting bulbs is to place them at a depth of three times their own height. Enjoy!

Thank you! Bulbs are like a bit of needed magic. Especially when they come to ‘life’ after a refrigerated cold period. 💐
