I just love how Devin shows metal isn’t all dark and grimy. Of course he has his deep/brutal songs (like deadhead, juular and so on), but still he has songs like this one, like Universal Flame, like Kingdom, which just make you feel good
Saw him at a fairly small venue in Minneapolis years ago after Transcendence came out. He interacted with the crowd and even took a special request from an audience member. It was one of the best shows I've ever been to. I've been on a huge Devin kick lately so I'll be looking out for him when he comes around again and I'd suggest you go if you get the chance.

Devin has worked with Anneke as well as Che Aimee Dorval and is interested in collaborating with talented musicians **regardless of sex** so quit yer bitching. Talent is talent. I think people need to accept the fact that women are just as present in heavy metal as men these days; we're increasingly a huge part of the fan base and audience members at shows. We are not there to be leered at as some kind of space oddity at these shows whether we are spectators or onstage. We care about the music just as much as you guys. We will keep attending shows and playing shows regardless of what some may wish.
Devin uses pre-recorded (or programmed) tracks live for instrument parts and other sounds the band can't replicate. But all the singing (save a few backing vocal tracks in his live shows), guitar, bass and drums are performed live.
It's clearly live, but yes he uses some backing tracks. and because of that and that there's so much going on, her mic level is a really delicate thing. she's not too quiet where you can't hear her, but you don't want her to be too loud either
