Feel sorry for all the people that have never had the privilege to hear Dev. No one and nothing comes close. Beautiful experience every time you listen.
I only got to see him as the opening act to DreamTheater in Rome, but he was absolutely magical. My wife recorded a video of me tearing up to the intro of Kingdom. Absolutely fantastic experience.
@@pabloliva87 Did he come out and sing the end of The Spirit Carries On with DT for the encore? I saw him in Newport, KY a couple months ago, great show
i was lucky enough to actually shake Devin's hand and whenever i think about it, it feels surreal.. truly a dream that came true, and i hope the same will happen for you, man
He's not much of a solo playing guy. It has to fit with the song and not just be a random bit of fast nonsense. I agree with the philosophy and his solos are always perfect and tastefully written to enhance the song, not just a look at me and what I can do kind of thing.
More talent, less dmt! =D Loved tool since being a kid, but Dev has so much more going for him, check out Singularity... Greatest composition of modern times
I am too, as well as of A Perfect Circle. I consider him and Maynard to be the gods of vocals. I'm a vocalist myself. Dev is definitely amazing. Never seen anyone do what he does live
I only discovered Devin Townsend a few days ago.. There is definitely a pre and post-discovery milestone in my life with this music. It seems to have raised everything to another level, like LiDAR did with the discovery of ancient Mayan ruins in the jungles of Guatemala.
Devin has been through some dark places but has come out the other side and overcome the anger and nihilism of his earlier projects And such a great technician
I don't feel that everything is better. Drums are doing too much @ 4:11 with crash and open hi-hat instead of closed hi-hat, and too much accents on the kick @4:21. Gene Hoglan did it better on the album with the more subtle approach.
I have seriously been on a Devy binge. And this song.....wow. This performance of this song. I had goosebumps. I am so happy that I found him. It feels like I found of piece of myself I didn't even know I was missing.
When you see a band live for the first time without having listened to them ever and they become one of your favorite bands… well that just happened to me after seeing them at Dream Sonic in Dallas with Dream Theater and Animals as a leaders
I got in to Devin because of my friend Andrew. He stopped talking to me, one day he'll stop being a doof and we'll sort things out. Always here for you man.
@@funtimewithhuskyman5601 He ghosted me on everything and doesn't answer any calls, texts, discords, visits, the lot. I never got an explanation. His mum tells me tidbits now and then as she's my landlady but that's it.

All the screaming strapping stuff, all the puppetry, the Casualties Of Cool, all the ambience, the endless hours of production, getting sober, being a healthy musician, it's all lead to this, and it's beautiful :)
I could hate this music (I don't) and I'd still attend this bc of the atmosphere. It's so much togetherness it's overwhelming. I could hear Devin reading off his grocery list and I'd attend. He'd make it interesting. What a lovely soul.

What you are watching in this video are masters of their craft, with the master of the masters working his magic. This is what it looks like. It is a rarity. Enjoy it.
It's the part @ 4:26 with (what sounds like) a g-minor arpeggio that makes me literally go for kleenex every. Damn. Time. It's fucking beautiful. This is classical music, and it's called that for a reason.
I feel Mike is trying to cement this moment in his memory forever, when the phones come on. incidentally this is the only acceptable situation in which to use a phone at a concert unless you are literally dying of a heart attack
I love how they make the end riff run twice, I always felt the part after "Suffer!" was way too short on the record...it ends after like 10 seconds but I feel it could go waaaaaay longer.
What scares me is that, usually, you see people suggesting other artists to people on videos like this. Either I am blind or there is no artist that can come close to replacing him. Not that I want him replaced, I just want to see what the next generation of artists who were moved by him look like.
The song was already so beautiful. . . And then the solo creeps up when you don’t expect. Speechless. Plus, you have absolutely nothing to play after this 😂
No matter how difficult the guitar part, Devin’s face is like mine when my aunt tries to persuade me on which apples are the best for apple pie and I’m like “just keep it cool, be emotionless”

Well, there is no air in space, and without air there can be no sound. So I highly doubt that Devin's guitar sounds like the birth of a star. But hey, I get the metaphor. ;-)

perfect performance!!!
Devon proves that a great solo does not need to be filled with a thousand notes played at the speed of light.
I've been coming back to this solo for a lifetime.. and it still hits me right in the feels every time.
Terria is one of the greatest albums in music of all time. Feel so lucky to have lived through this life to have heard it

I'm really happy that Devin revisited his older tunes. Hearing this live with the orchestra is a dream come true. One of the best guitar solos ever
Yeah, that solo in one of my favourites and in terms of composition, it is also super.
I have a feeling that in 200 years from now we will listen to this like we listen today to Mozart
I already do :)
I have a feeling that the music Bill and Ted were supposed to make that unifies the World sounds EXACTLY like this.
Devin has been through some dark places but has come out the other side and overcome the anger and nihilism of his earlier

The spotlight was entirely on him for that solo. I wouldn't be able to handle it with that amount of pressure.
The reason why my son is called devin thanks for all the awesome music 😊😊
Mine as well!! 🤜🤛
That this sort of musician, music, and THIS SONG exist is proof that the universe loves us.

Nice one, this song is amazing, the build-up, the chorus, everything.
I always forget how good this solo is, then I hear it again and I'm like "oh yeah that's the best solo ever made, right".
This song takes me to a place I’ve never been. It’s a journey, not just music, it’s a transportation system to another realm.
Better than the studio version - especially the extra backing vocals on the last bridge- gives me the goddamn shivers.....bloody amazing
the same here!!! total goosebumps!
And the drums accompanying on the 2nd part of the bridge is just so full and atmospheric
I don't feel that everything is better. Drums are doing too much @ 4:11 with crash and open hi-hat instead of closed hi-hat, and too much accents on the kick @4:21. Gene Hoglan did it better on the album with the more subtle approach.

It's alright to cry
It's alright to lean on everyone
It's alright to lie in the bed you've made for everyone
And anytime you need someone,
Anytime you heed someone
Anytime you need me babe, I will be there.
It's alright to die
It's alright to bleed on everyone
It's alright this time
It's all life, you learn from everyone
With every single time you go
...And every single line you blow
Anytime you need it man, I won't be there
It's all going away now
...All going away now
Going, going... gone
Going, going... gone
It's alright to cry
It's alright to feed on everyone
It's alright to hide,
In your cozy bed from everyone
