Another day in Leicester and I honestly can't believe we managed to pull this up After two and a half hours and a few near misses with the grapple hook we finally got it..

I do like watching your group. Not for the finds, but the group working together, involving the kids. Problem solving, being blokey in a positive way. And just having a good time.
Wendy Morrison Thanks for your kind comments. We always have a great time and it is nice how everybody gets involved. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Great video, nice to see people enjoying selves together with their children with you, better than sitting inside on a PlayStation .Thanks for posting.
Hey Nigel,
WOW, it's a year later and it still hurts my back! Ha! Great job all of you! What a team effort! That's something to be very proud about! GBU.,SM.,NZ. 🙂😃😄😁😄😃🙂
Too many of the rivers and canals of the world have become dumping grounds for society's trash and refuse. Your "hobby" is in fact a public service for which the rest of us should be very grateful.
Manoscott I enjoy doing it and if it helps clear all the rubbish then that’s a bonus as well. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Yes, I agree. Thank you for the great job you do. Love watching your videos.
That's great that the whole family and friends go out magnet fishing together. 👍
We always have fun when we’re out. 👍🏻
Wow that’s crazy! Nice find!!
The Fisher It was an unusual find and heavy. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
That my fine fellows is the undercarriage of a WWII era Hyster Fork Lift with rear wheel drive and rotating steering that was powered by batteries.....lots of batteries.
Thanks for the info and thanks for watching 👍🏻
I saw an old tractor 600 ft under Hutchinson, Kansas that was used to mine salt. It had a thousand pounds of batteries.
WOW!
my first thought was it is a forklift chasis, wouldnt have been able to date it though
me and my mates when we were younger, used to go swimming in rivers and bridge jump, makes me think how we didn`t hurt our self's with all this metal in the water.
hey a Canadian here and i have to agree with Jim Waldo as i looked it up ait sure looks like it was the undercarriage of WWII era Hyster ForkLift or at the very lease a forklift.
You guys come well prepared! It's good to see friends come together like this. Amazing finds.
We have a good group of people and meet up regularly. Thanks for your view. 👍🏻
what a team young and old i enjoyed watching northants very interesting thank you all
john butler Thank you for your comments. We always have a great time. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
That three wheeled trolley was one hell of a find & that's what you call working together to get the job done WELL DONE!!! on that lift. You deserve a pint for those who actually did the lifting 👏👏👏👏👏👏👍😉 not for the spectators 😋😋😋😋😋😋😛😛😛😛😛 I felt exhausted just watching you pull that heavy trolly out & then the empty safe at the end. ..........PHEEEWWW!!!! 😁😁😁😁😉👍
It's very cool watching you all working together to clean up the waterways. Keep up the good work. Great videos. Gave me quite a scare when you almost lost the safe after all that hard work. Teresa from Indiana
+Teresa PARKER It was a fantastic day with some amazing finds. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
GREAT!! team work wether you know anyone or not. It looks like everyone is willing tom help with heavy lifts for each other. & having a laugh with each cracking wise cracks at each other is having some fun with each other. I sadly can't mag fish due to my disability But, i really enjoy watching you lot on You Tube having a great time. 👏👏👏👏👍😉
At 4:41 the cast iron "pot your holding is the outer pot that contained water, there was an inner pot , and a "wire handle" and a lid,, it was made for melting "Scotch Glue" extensively used in the furniture making trade! Once melted , the glue while hot was applied to the "joints or dowels" and and clamped, once cool it was a very effective , although somewhat brittle wood glue! But not waterproof! I sill have and use a smaller one, but very rarely now.
Good job all working together and keeping the talk clean. Nice channel!
Tina Brewer Thanks for your comments and thanks for watching 👍🏻
Love how you have your lead in and trailing segments. Almost as tho I'm watching a TV show. Nicely done there. 😀
great find fellas. Having watched many of these vids, I always wonder why a shortish length of say 4x1 timber isn't used to lever the article away from the canal sides, thus taking at least a little strain off those ropes . Could be horrendous consequences should something give. Magnet fishing a wonderful service to councils, and exciting into the bargain.
Like how it's just "this lot" 😂🤣😂🤣 and I thought we were friends nigel 😎😁😀😂🤣
Thenew Magneterz WE also includes you mate 👍🏻 Otherwise it would be I and I wouldn’t have got that out on my own. 😂😂Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Amazing. I can't believe you guys got that out!!! Great job guys!
It was hard work but worth it in the end. Thanks for watching
Shocking intro scared the 💩out of me. I was waiting for the ad to finish and I was playing with Mimi my cat when it came on. LOL 😂
Wanted something a little different. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
I have been hooked on these video's since I discovered them! Your city and county government should thank all of you for cleaning the waterways. They should also have some type of receptacle there that debris may be placed in to be hauled off. The reason people have to throw their trash in the water is cause they are purely lazy.
We remove tons of scrap and I find it shocking how much is in there. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
In the states you could take your haul to the scrap yard and make a few bucks.
An amazing amount of stuff. I recall once they drained a canal and it was full of bikes and motorcycles and a car and lots of odds and ends plus coins of all types
There is tons of junk in our waterways so everything we pull out is a bonus. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Its a real community adventure looks like it's more fun than sitting at home knitting hey boys
jeffrey robinson We always have fun. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Great video m8 keep up the good work it looked like an old swivel wheel flat bed that was used at the train station back in the day for mail or other heavy items
crazy magnet family Hargood Somebody else said the same mate. Was an unusual and heavy find. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Watch for Adolph bombs
If you still have this cart or something like it, you can make a portable "gantry" or crane for lifting out the heavy stuff. But, you would need a heavy anchoring system.
I love watching magnet fishing, it’s a twofer, you find interesting things and the river and waterways get a bit of a clean!
thank you for watching and your support!
@@Northantsmagnetfishing Apologies, I forgot to subscribe! Now have done so. Thank you again.
4.41 mins in, I think this is a glue pot, circa 1890/1930s. There should be a smaller insert pot that held the glue that sits inside the bigger one which is filled with water and heated to melt the glue.
Thanks for the information. Always nice to know what some things are. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
You have it correct, it is a glue pot. I used one in the 1950s for woodworking jobs. It was placed on a gas ring to heat the glue which came in brown pea-sized pellets and we called it fish glue.
@@CEng-ge6sw that's right, and it stinks.
Metal glue melting pot at 4.45 used for the old rabbit glue.
Thanks for the info. It was a interesting find and it’s always nice to know what it is. Thanks
What great teamwork! I'd be very curious to know what that big trolley was used for.
Apparently it a railway platform trolley from the 50’s or 60’s. All I know is my back felt it for days 😂 Thanks for watching 👍🏻
That is some grungy looking water...😲
Looks like the base of an old sack barrow(flat base barrow)1800s up,Restored your looking at Close to a grand.Market and farm memrobelia is making a nice few quid again.
vesti bestie It was too big to get home unfortunately. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Inform a museum otherwise it will end up in the canal again !
Angel Reading It was collected later in the week as it weighed so much.
What you have found looks like the chassis from a “Lister Auto Truck”. The engine would mount to the front bogie and you would swivel the engine to steer it.
It’s a great find and a Lister collector out there would love that I imagine.
Somebody else said the same. It was so heavy but a great find. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
The huge thing with the wheels, is probably a 55 gallon drum dolly of some sort
Apparently it’s a train station platform cart. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
It looks like an old Lister engined parcel shunter from the old Midland rail which is just over the other side of the river from where you were filming and was closed by Dr Beaching at the end of the steam era
Hi there Louise in Chatham Kent. I think you find its an old hand cart from a train station yes very heavy . A very good fine clean it up bit of wood handle got your self a good cart the. Well done.
Great team work & vid xx
Tracy Howarth We work well together on the big items. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Die cart used in factory setting would have had a steel or wood top
It was a heavy old beast. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Wow that is an awesome find
Bills metal detecting It was a huge find. Took us 2.5 hours to get out but the back ache was worth it 😂 Not everyday you find one of these. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Love watching here frm.Philippines God bless you all guys.
Wow, if nothing else you could make somethng selling scrap metal. Exciting video, well done
Thanks for your comments. We have removed tons of scrap this year so there is a few happy scrap men. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Hello from Saginaw Michigan!!!
I love watching what you're going to find next.
Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Industrial Trolley
Definitely subscribe to this channel very good auditing keep up the good work very good channel
Thanks for your kind comments and thanks for watching 👍🏻
Hi! I'm watching a Lot of your videos and i love your hobby and your attitude with people! Who knows what could you find here in the diverse in Italy!
You never know what’s in there. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
That looks like a base for a lister autotruck still use them at work
Thanks for the info and thanks for watching 👍🏻
Great video you guys. What type of magnet do you use please, and where do you get them from. Thank you.
The beast from onlinemagnets. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Glad you mentioned the scrap man as all that dead weight old scrap must be worth something at the junkyard, the fact that you've pulled it out and you could get paid for it is a win win surely. The canals or rivers are definitely better off without it. Take care and thanks for all the family fun.
That kind of corroded dirty scrap is not worth much, probably wouldn't pay the cost of the fuel to transport it to the scrappy.
We call a local scrapman and he takes it away for free. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
That pot at 4;39 is , I believe, an old glue pot (handle missing) from a furniture/goods factory.....it would be ONE of TWO parts. A smaller pot , for glue, would fit inside of that one.
Your part would be heated and coals placed inside to keep the glue in the pot heated.
[
We used to use these , with fish glue in them. 😷
We was told that by another sub but thanks for the info and thanks for watching 👍🏻
beautiful and like
Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Did you ever find out what that big trailer lookung thing was, or what was its use?
To me it looked a lot like a bumper car frame from an amusment park.
Apparently it’s a base for an old railway platform cart. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
@@Northantsmagnetfishing There you go !.... That's what I thought it was. How the heck did it find its way into the canal tho' ??
I know for a fact that it was a Lister truck. I used to use one in David Browns foundry in Penistone to move castings from one department to another. The small Lister petrol engine was mounted above the twin wheels and the whole thing could rotate to steer by the driver using semi circular handlebar.
Wonderful
Thank you and thanks for watching 👍🏻
Love this from USA mi
Curious, which do you find better - double sided magnet or single sided?
I prefer double sided for dragging but a single is good for lifting things out of the water. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
One that picks up on the side it's supposed to.
That wild that thing must way a ton
thats the second big trolly iv seen.. cool.
D.S Magnet Fishing It was a beast. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
@@Northantsmagnetfishing looked like it, welcome
Find from 4.50 is a possible brass spittoon thay used to have in pubs.....?
I am courious what are these canals used for , transportation , rec. , or agraculture? Where ,in general, city , are these canals at? Just courious I live too far to be of compatition.
The canals have been used for hundreds of years and were the main transport hubs to move everything. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Chapeau!!!!!!
Showdown Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Good video was getting heart palpations when you were on other side of railings tho.
It was a long way up but we was careful. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
That came out of a factory
It was a beast to get out. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Should build some sort of tripod to hoist heavy pieces out from the water instead of dragging it up over the bank.
We’re looking at multiple different things at the moment. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
It's called a barrel dolly, used to either carry barrels of oil etc or (with a flat back) used to carry iron castings around a foundry or factory. They were also built with Lister engines, but it was a lot longer vehicle, circa 1930ish to about 1960 -70. Rubery Owen, Davis Tanks, GKN and several heavy engineering firms had them.
Thanks for your information. It was one heavy trolly to get out. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Looks like the chassis from a bumper car . Very quadraphenia 😂
Apparently it was a old railway platform cart. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
That looks like the chassis of an listed truck. The engine would of sat on top of the front wheels. Very good find . And i would of thought would make £100 on ebay
Hi you mean a LISTER truck not listed, Lister was the make of the Engine,as you say could still make a few BOB, they were used as a small tug on station platforms towing trolleys loaded with Mail bags etc.
@@ramseybarber8312 yup thats what i ment .lister truck
Dead One Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Passe-temps enrichissant
Makes me wonder if the magnet is picking up ferrous material and this much is pulled up, how much regular trash is there?
I feel I needs to comment that if the grappling hook comes off the object while you're winching it and standing by the winch you will be visiting A&E and having it surgically removed from your face.
I do appreciate your comment. We are working on many different ways to improve safety while using the winch as it would be dangerously it hit anybody. Thanks for watching 😂
@@Northantsmagnetfishing I always wear gloves , some form of eye wear and steel toe cap boots whenever I go magnet fishing. Best to be safe than sorry.
What you do with all the scrap? There is a lot of market for old tools
All the scrap gets collected by a local scrapman. Interesting things we take home. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Dodgem or bumper car chassis?
It was a railway platform cart. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
its a rail way luggage puller on railway platforms
Thanks for your info. That is the most popular answer. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Did you keep the cart thing
Unfortunately not due to its size and weight we were unable to transport it. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Clean it up and use it for a trolley to move your stuff that you find save carrying it all
Wouldn’t have been able to get it in the car 😂😂 Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Can any of the gear, motor bikes, push bikes etc be recycled or even made to work again?
We have donated some of the bikes to people so they can restore them. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
@@Northantsmagnetfishing Thank you for your reply. That is brilliant that these bikes are being donated. Is the scrap metal worth anything? I hope so that at least you get something for all your hard work.
The frame Is from a bumber car how the hell did it end up in there
What happened to the big trolley if you couldn’t remove it ?
Did it end up being pushed back in by the local ferals ?
Scrap man came and collected it. Thanks for watching
I know what it is, its a powered boggie, frame * wheels (part of a tractor unit). there use to be a twin lister or petters long stroke diesel engine over the turnable part (turn the whole engine to steer), the driver would stand or sit and behind that would be where the trailer hook up would be, You would find loads of these in timber yards, also in docks as shunters for maffi trailers
Public service, props!!!
Donde puedo conseguir un iman como el vuestro?
Say when you guys take in the scrap ,do you get Money for when your recycling it as we get here canada.so much a pound?
The clean stuff is worth bank..I bet between the clean stuff and corroded, the yard breaks even for coming to pick it up..(guessing) The rusted is junk, costs money to dispose.
that is the chassis and running gear off a Lister truck, it would of had an engine over the turn table driving the front wheels and was used extensively in industry and pre dates fork lifts by donkeys years .
Really appreciate your comments and that isn’t the first time lister has been said. It was really heavy. Thanks for watching
I prefer one or two people. I dont enjoy this many people at the same time.
One heavy duty trolly
It was. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
10:47 what would happen if the hooks comming over you guys? Scary 😱
its the bottom of a bumper car they winched out
Thanks for watching 👍🏻
What’s the most valuable thing you found?????
I’ve found loads of silver jewellery in safes. Nothing of rap value. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
ITS about fun ,lol
Looks like rail road cart
+judith jackson Apparently it’s an old railway platform cart. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
..it's a forklift chassis, the rotating wheels are the rear end..more than likely used to move bricks for the wall or bridge, and either was discarded into the river or lost it's balance and fell into the river..left to rust into worthless junk.
Apparently it’s a train station platform cart. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
What do they do with all the rubbish they pullout
The rubbish is collected by a local scrapman. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
YOU GOT A HOLE CAR
It was an old railway platform cart. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Lister auto truck!! that model usually used in foundries hence the big solid wheels, i had one with a twin wheel like that on the back, powered by Lister twin diesel engine, would only be found in heavy-duty workshops, the ones that was used on train platforms are Wrigley auto trucks a much lighter weight version of the one you dragged out. The DM (UK)
Thanks for that. I did think it was a bit heavy duty for a platform truck. Thanks for watching 👍🏻

He don't mind picking those things up with his bare hands. So cool how they have alot of people having fun and cleaning the waterways too.
Why is that water so Nasty... Do the people in that Country not care... Here we have Rivers and Creeks that are crystal Clear and very clean... But we care and don't put our trash in them... That water makes me sad...
Z71Ranger Your right it is disgusting how people dispose of rubbish in the water. The amount of stuff we remove is unbelievable. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Waters with sediment are often coloured anyway, and so it is good that magnet fishing is helping clean the hidden mess!
Its a canal not a creek our " creeks" and streams are crystal clean I've watched american videos where they find loads of "trash" too so don't be so judgemental pal. Have a nice day y'all.
You're talking about rivers and creeks. If you care to watch more closely, you'll find that these are canals in which the water does not flow freely. Over a period of 250 years or more a natural sediment of decayed leaves and corroded banks build up. By the way, I think you'll find that in parts of your rivers, especially near towns and cities, your local yobs will have dumped mountains of trash as well.
Looks like the bottom of a ghost train carage
David Parsons Apparently it’s a platform cart from the 50’s or 60’s. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
