Thank you very much for cleaning up our waterways. They should never be sued for dumping refuse.
We love what we do and it’s amazing how much we pull out. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Great fun with the magneteer's doing a magnificent job in the community, keep up the good work everyone.
Thanks for watching 👍🏻
yaaaaa for the PACKER FAN
What you found in the suitcase was a lathe. The tool rest gave it away. As for the military knife, James from WW2 Wendal may be able to help with that one. Great video 🙂
Thanks for the info. We did realise later on that it was a lathe. One of the guys took it home to restore it. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
I’m not sure. I’ll ask him next time I see him.
love watching keep the kids out the way
We do try but there always really excited. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
I was going to say the same. It's great they're interested & having fun but trying to help pull heavy things out when surrounded by adults could see them falling in.
The knife you found is a Boatsmans mate knife. The spoke is called a fid it's for spreading rope to splice. FYI
Thanks for the information and thanks for watching 👍🏻
Boatswain's or Boson's knife, or Jack Knife if issued to RM. 1 blade - 1 spike - 1 Can / Bottle opener.
On my side of the pond it is a marlin spike for openning nautical knots and splicing rope as Jason has already mentioned.
@@BadBadBlair that was jason not me
@@warrthogg1758 Apologies.
It’s always good to remove dangerous things to insure that the public is safe especially the little ones! Greetings from USA
I agree with you. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Wow, to see all the people who's channels I watch along with yours as your day plays out is awesome!
Thanks for you comments. We love what we do. Thanks for viewing. 👍🏻
I’m so glad that you guys are cleaning that out I’m sure it makes your town happy too and I saw after you’re all done that you cleaned your sidewalks and everything good job guys
Very cool knife Dan, great video
Dan is so impressed with it. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Another great vid and what a brilliant day out, canal cleaned up a bit, everybody had a good time.
Love the kid who's convinced there's a body inside the suitcase.
Wild imagination 😂😂 Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Ils sont tellement sympa que quand je regarde leurs vidéos, je les regarde avec le sourire. 👏
@7:50 it's a navy knife you have,it has a blade on one side and what's called a marlin spike on the other it's used primarily in rope work in the navy.
Looks like a Japanese made riggers knife I had one back in the 60s.
Is very nice to see the town participating in cleaning up the canals very nice
We all have a great time every time we go fishing. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Love the way you approach the camera and show ya finds that cannal needs dredging it's a right mess must make a fortune in scrap good work guys
I do try to interact with the camera as much as possible. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
21.53 that woman come to help realize it weren't magnetic and walks off letting them struggle so she don't get her hands dirty😂😂😂😂
Thanks for watching 👍🏻

Hi there from Germany, I dont understand everything you say but i really love what you guys are doing! Thank you very much for cleaning the environment.
We just love what we do. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
yes it is a military style knife. the spike is used for working with lines (rope) . undoing knots and splicing lines .
Thanks for the info and thanks for watching 👍🏻
@@Northantsmagnetfishing also used as a hoof pick for horses
great team work
Having your family there is great fun for the kids. Watch out for each other.
Sorry your mudlucking got cut short. I glad you all got out safely . You did right in leaving that area.have fun on your next spot.from shirley from new Bern, north carolina u.s.a ❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😮🎉🎉😅😊🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
that was a while ago.
The reason all the old 36 mills grenades turn up is the Home guard chucked em in the canals , ponds, and rivers at the end of ww2. New a good hotspot for them in Maidstone, as a kid me and my freinds used to find em regularly. Drilled out the brass filling plug and made safe ourselves , Never not once was the fuse still viable, and that was back in the 70s and early 80s. Dont try this yourself though.
Looks like someone left the water running in the garbage dump LOL
nice to see all together.great vid x
We did have a great day. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Totally awesome video lots of great finds
It was a great day with some amazing finds. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
The knife is a Military issue in some countries. The spike is called a Marlin Spike. It is used by sailors to assist in untying knots.
Thanks for the information and thanks for watching 👍🏻
Excellent video dude, love the beast tug of war, that knuckle blade look mean, the suitcase item looked like a high powered drill to drill big stationary safes with, it will of had at some point leg attachements to move the drill for different locations on the safe. Sweet finds. Definitely looking forward to the next adventures. 👍🇬🇧
Thanks mate. It was actually a wood lathe. The tug of war was fun 😂 I’m sure we’ll meet up soon mate and maybe I’ll curse you into something explosive 😬 Thanks for watching 👍🏻
fishing sure thing dude.
God blease you all and your Familie,s.
that was so cool you couldn't ask for a better day great video guys lol
I will admit it was one of the best days fishing I’ve had. Everybody I asked turned up and made the day. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
What a great video I love the fact you found a drill I had a drill once always kept it in a suitcase on the back of my oracle as I rowed my way leisurely down the canal. Until one day I got to the local mooring and turned around and my suitcase had gone. I’ve managed tho, I bought a new suitcase and a drill
Awesome video mate great day and great finds 3 grenades what a day 😂
It doesn’t get much better than that. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Thepiece you called a drill is actually a small wood lath and the tools that someone used to work wood.
Yes we did find that out later on. Thanks for the info and thanks for watching 👍🏻
Great finds and excellent videos. My regards from America
Love You Guys.
Thank you and thanks for watching 👍🏻
I love the big group vids
thank you!
Pulling up that suit case is wearing me out helping you out!!
It was a heavy old case. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
The knife is an amazing find! I have a similar one given to me by a military historian who told me that the design of the spike dates it back to the first world war/early 1900s (I'm assuming it could be earlier as you will see) when horses would have their hooves cleaned out of mud and harmful debris by the individual soldier who rode them into battle. The horse needed as much care and attention as the weapons of war.
It was an amazing find. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Correct
I really enjoyed this video. Liked seeing a group of people magnet fishing.
A Lot of interesting things were found.
Thanks for sharing your videos.
Also I just subbed too.
Thanks it was a great day. Thanks for the sub and thanks for watching 👍🏻
What a great day it was. I forgot about the magnets getting stuck together 🤣😂🤣
It was a fun tug of war. Thanks for watching mate 👍🏻
Exciting stuff you pull out.!!!
We have had some amazing finds. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
As crowded as this hobby is getting (on fair-weather days), I think it shows cleaning up the neighborhood can be fun, and sometimes buy a coffee and biscuits.
Great work fellas a job well done. When you have a find like that suitcase, surely it would help if you could lever it away from the towpath with a length of 4x1 timber, it would also possibly help to slide the article up the bank. Such a struggle and the possiblity of a gaff where you don't want it. Safe hunting.
That might be a good idea. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
hello Northants from florida/usa! have watched all of your videos on youtube. haven’t come across video #13 tho. oh and please post more soon as you can! thank you so much!
Hello USA. Thanks for watching all my videos. In the uk people are superstitious about 13 believing it to be unlucky so I never titled one #13 so you won’t find one. We aim to have a new video every Thursday but unfortunately this week due to my workload it should now be Sunday. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Nice work guys keep it up
Great video as always mate and it was a top day definitely went with a bang bang bang 😂👍
Was a great day mate. Glad you was part of it and thanks for watching 👍🏻
I really want to try doing this magnet fishing looks really good fun
It is great fun and really addictive. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Looks a like you should notify the police before an event so they can have a bobby in that area.
Nice to see the hargood family
Always fun when there around. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
nice yokts knife
It was a great find. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Good work people clean out all the Rivers
We’re trying. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
2 grenades. that 1st one was a stepper motor of some kind, it was flat oblong with a shaft sticking out of the top and a gear wheel still attached, Anyone could see it was no grenade lol!!
It was a rifle grenade and that was confirmed by the eod. It was taken away and a controlled explosion of it took place. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
@@Northantsmagnetfishing i agree with motor .. ive looked at rifle grenades and none are flat and one sided - it would never fly and its got the armature cooling fan at one end and ends are for a drive not smooth as in a rifle grenade
I enjoy your team of 5 or so Males.
Too many people and worse yet children for my liking.
Will tune out now.
Maybe I'll log on another time.
Cheers.
I wonder how there can be any water with all the stuff in it. Nigel, I’m a nurse & I had to notice your beautiful veins when you were pulling up the suitcase. Sorry, it’s a nurse thing. You guys are fun to watch. It’s too cold where I am, Alaska. You might get a Polar bear!
yep some type of military knife, they all have the "pig sticker" foldout prong, lots of uses for that thing
It was a cool find. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Fancy trying to attack one of the Brummies lol
It was a bit close for comfort. Luckily I know Phil really well and he saw the funny side of it. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Nice video
Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Is this a new thing Iv never heard or seen of it before and can’t believe how big it is !! Although never seen anyone doing it where I live 🤷🏻♀️
It’s been going on for about 3 years and now it’s getting really popular. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Northants magnet fishing I love watching it i want my own Magnet now 🧲😃
I wonder what would come out from Enfield lock next to the old small arms factory?!?!?! Love watching the vids.....
Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Hi, I only discovered you today.
I am a Leicester lass and so really enjoyed this recording.
I have previously been subscribed and following CJ Faison in the USA, He does some magnet fishing as well as other things.
I was told it was illegal in the UK, so didn't know anyone did this here. Thrilled that you do.
Next time you come to Leicester, I'd love to pop down and see you all in person. I have applied to join your Facebook page.
Hope you approve.
I love that you are helping to clean up the canals while having fun. Please, keep the videos coming.
I have never seen so many magnet fishers in one spot! Thats insane id be worried about hooking someone elses magnet!
thanks for watching!
the knife was also issued to the army in the 1st world war and the spike was used to clean out horse hoofs
Thanks for watching 👍🏻
'You stole my idea, You stole my title, ... Idea wins :)
Thanks for watching
The knife is like my navy knife with a marin spike for splicing it was worn around the waist by a landyard attached to the ring . i havent seen mine sinse i left the navy in 1966 .
thanks for the info!
Great day bud nice video lol hard to do all them finds but well made good job
Thanks mate. There so much to squeeze in but definitely a day to remember 👍🏻

Awesome video! New Subscriber!
The English were keen on folding marlin spikes (as seen on the bottom model) on their knives which were extremely useful for untying knots in rope. These marlin spikes first appeared on English Navy type knives in the 1880s, but oddly, American Navy folders did not have marlin spikes included on folders until WWII.
Its a WW2 British Army Clasp Knife, Look it up online.
The knife has been cleaned it up and it says J.Christie & sons Sheffield on it and has 2 tap symbols stamped on it as well. It is a army pocket knife. Was a cool find. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
The knife, I had one when I was in the RCN
That is one with a marlin spike.
The knife looks to be a boating knife for sailing. The spike helps tie certain knots as well as separating. Could be Navy issue but not sure. Good find.
Thanks for
The variety of items you found is astounding. I can't imagine why people throw away tools such as the hammer, the bolt cutter and that drill press. That was the heaviest suitcase you've seen in some time!
sometimes people throw things away they don't want to be found, that hammer could have been stuck in sombodys skull lol
@@richardbingham1909 A truly good assumption!
Well done
Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Y’all really like magnet fishing over there 👍👍 so much trash in your waterways
There is but we’re getting it out bit by bit. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Nice man. 👍
Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Oh you a found a horizontal drilling machine it mounts on a big safe. And drill out the tumblers with a diamond dill bit or titanium bits ,, it actually hangs on the door and you crank in the head to drill !,,,, in some places it would be called bungler Tools ,,,,Thank you 🙏.
It was later identified as a mini lathe. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
I had a knife and it was just like that you had got and it was from ww2 and it was made in Sheffield!, they are quite expensive in good condition so I hope that you have cleaned up the knife pal
Wow
that was a horsemans knife, the pointy thing on the knife was a Hoof pick for cleaning out a horse's feet
Thanks for watching 👍🏻
That gas bottle is more dangerous than a grenade. If that thing bursts from being knocked around you are dead. That drill was probably used to drill a safe.
Knife with a 'spike' is called a arlinspike" Mariner's knife... Splicing rope.
is called jackknife used by sailors for rope work
No its a WW2 British Army Clasp Knife, look it up!
The knife has been cleaned it up and it says J.Christie & sons Sheffield on it and has 2 tap symbols stamped on it as well. It is a army pocket knife. Was a cool find. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
So this is how Pikeys spend their weekends 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂 Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Very cool video! Not a great idea to be handling the grenades though. There has been many WW2 explosives found that hadn't been detonated and were still live.
thank you!
love it guys, mf community having fun together! Keep it going!
We always have fun. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
My uncle had that king of knife in the army it was called a Jack Knife
Plenty of finds there guy's, good days work nice video .GL & H H
Thanks for your comments and thanks for watching 👍🏻
It amazes me people find a old bomb not knowing how unstable it is. They always sit there and handle it. Take pics with it before they call the police
It may well be an army knife but everybody had one in the Navy my days
The knife has been cleaned it up and it says J.Christie & sons Sheffield on it and has 2 tap symbols stamped on it as well. It is a army pocket knife. Was a cool find. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
How do you dispose of all the random metal items?
Everything can be a grenade if you think about.
I suppose so. Thanks for watching
The pocket knife isn't army, it's navy or nautical use as that spike on one side is for splicing rope, I had a similar one which was issued to Air Sea rescue, it should have a really sharp blade, rare score as I think their no longer issued,
Keep up the good work guys👍🇬🇧👍
Cheers👍🇦🇺👍
Thanks for the info and thanks for watching 👍🏻
Great video to you all, well done with all those finds. G L / H H
