    I'm sure it difficult to find people who would take the trash y'all find in the rivers. I know it's a little difficult here in the States. What I like most about watching these videos is seeing y'all cleaning up the rivers and creeks. It would be amazing to see what 20 people with these magnets could do in a 100 foot stretch.

    • @lorienray6216
      @lorienray6216 2 роки тому +3

      So why is it difficult in the states, you do not have scrap metal yards or people that rather just leave it behind. Several US magnet fishers I watch clean the water, take things to the dump, guess the fest just lazy leaving their finds there or throwing it in water in first place

    • @marcbrunson6986
      @marcbrunson6986 2 роки тому +1

      @@lorienray6216 Some towns and cities have restrictions on what can be brought to the dump. It just depends on what they can store or move. Also, some areas don't have locals who collect the scrap to move to dumps or to sell. It just depends on where you live.

    • @Magneticg
      @Magneticg  2 роки тому +3

      Hi Marc we are very fortunate in the U.K., it’s not difficult at all to find a local scrap man to collect the scrap metal we pull out and take it away, they are more than happy to do this. Unfortunately some magnet fishers in the U.K. are just lazy and can’t be bothered to contact a scrap man and just leave their scrap metal behind 😡

    • @marcbrunson6986
      @marcbrunson6986 2 роки тому +2

      @@Magneticg I'm glad to hear people who take scarp are readily available. It's a shame that some magnet fishers don't have trash etiquette. Magnet fishing is something I would love to try and I would for sure find out where the best place, near me, to take the scrap before trying it out.

    05:30 could be an old hub, the wooden spokes would have fitted into the holes. 06:30 could be a brake mechanism, looks like it has a lever action. The plate with the snap fitting reminds me of an air filter cover. 09:14 looks like the lever to open or close a valve or a pump handle? 14:00 an old vending machine that was hung in the gents toilets to sell contraceptives? 16:00 a shoe buckle? 16:30 the axle from a pram? 19:20 a bearing from a railway wagon? Thanks for sharing all the fun with us.

    I believe that bullet George found at the start of this video is a colonial-era bullet. They were made of lead if it is a bullet. We find them here in the states all of the time while detecting where we know there were battles. That appears to be a handgun bullet by the size and it does not appear to have been fired. It is what we call a "drop". After all, the first Americans came from England. Cool finds!

    Just found you guys. I have been binge watching. From Big Spring Texas USA. Suggestions on old axes…I just restored one side and it shined up like a mirror and left the other horrible. You can present the ugly side to people and flip it over and shock them with restored side. I have several I’m working on and there are many on UA-cam that restore just axes. Love you guys really enjoy your channel and your accents. 😂

    Nice day for it, you have had a great day helping to clean the river up. At least you have got a nice pile of iron for the scrapman. Quite a few people would get disheartened by this and just dump the scrap by the riverbank. It does happen unfortunately and I have witnessed it. Both of you have never done this in your video's and have always acted responsibly. If you find something then that's a bonus and if not, then you have helped out nature and the environment...🙂👍🏻👍🏻

      Yes it was incredible finding another axe! We did get to find out if the tiny axe I found on our previous video was Viking or not, we posted an update on our community tab. Here’s what the expert had to say incase you haven’t seen it “Sadly, I don't believe the axe to be Viking as its general form seems quite wrong, it's possibly Medieval to 17th Century in date (somewhat difficult to tell on heavily encrusted items) and probably what's referred to as a trade axe, likely used for the shaping of wooden items by a carpenter. Its far too small to be a weapon and even the smaller throwing axes tended to have a slightly elongated narrow body, which is absent on your example. Most Viking (weapon) axes tend to exhibit what is referred to as a "spur" both top and bottom on either side of the main shaft socket (spur = a slightly extruded point like detail). FYI, I have attached an image showing the most commonly known styles of Viking axes, should you possibly come across one in the future, hope it helps.”

    Watching you coil up that cable reminds me of one of my dad's favourite sayings that i never understood then, but do now, which is:- "THE CUSSEDNESS OF INANIMATE OBJECTS". This is where you think you are in charge, but whatever you are trying to have influence over, begs to differ. That can be taken both ways, if you are not finding so many items, either, they have all been fished out, or, were not put in, in the first place. Either way its better for the environment.
