If that's a polyester rope on your magnet, use a blow dryer on the knot, and it won't untie. It will basically mold itself to the knot shape. It will have to be cut off if you want the rope for something else. No need to heat it until you see melting. A heat gun works faster, but is easier to damage the rope.
Isn't it cool how fun this is. Even when you find trash you still get excited. I love making magnet fishing videos. Keep it up.
You should show in a video how those multi-tools and knives look after they've been cleaned up.
I love these videos I just bought 2 550lb magnets that came in today off Amazon $30 each came with orange rope. So my dad and i can go hintin for some rusty treasure like you boys do. Nothing like hanging out with your old man.

I love to magnet fish sometime,it’s contagious,my brother and I used to go fishing and we aren’t fishermen but,we used to catch metal things on our hooks and then I realized I had an idea 💡 and I thought,what about magnet fishing and I didn’t even know that was a thing on UA-cam that people would video and post all of the time as a hobby!!!! I think I’ll try that!!!!! 😀😀😀😀

Should put a carabineer on end of rope and clip it to belt loop. Just in case you out throw your length of rope.

I was doing this in the 60's !! we also used to drag with metal hooks that resembled treble hooks used in fishing... used to get a lot of rods..on the hooks... used them more than magnets.
