Someone please help! I have a galaxy s7 with a broken black screen. I tried this method, but the phone screen is not showing up on the TV screen. Here’s what did: I connected a type C USB hub to the phone using a USB c to micro USB adaptor (Since the phone’s charging port is micro USB), then i connected a mouse to the USB port of the hub and then the HDMI cable, one end to the hub and the other to the TV, but nothing shows up on the TV screen. Am i doing something wrong?
Did you select hdmi (input) option in your monitor ..??.
Please help mine is just showing time and date with a lock sign

just connect a keyboard and a mouse to your phone and connect your phone with hdmi cable with your tv and than press window key and than press backspace key and than type your pincode. You can buy the “USB HUB” on amazon to connect both keyboard and mouse at the same time

How do you get this to work when the phone is locked with a PIN number ? I've half a screen showing on my Samsung S10+ and a white padlock floating around on my monitor, which does nothing when you click the mouse !

I couldn't see the bottom of my screen because my screen was damages but once u connect it to the monitor u see the whole screen. This method is incredible.

@@maxmixer I'm telling u I did see the full screen and was able to swipe up with my mouse to unlock the phone.. I have a Galaxy S10+.

I Broke my screen totally, so nothing was visible and saw this. Unfortunately this appears to be done by someone who has either played with the settings first and not using a stock phone. Plugging in only gives an image with the time and date and padlock - not the image of the phone screen. I assume you need to have activated Dex to do this. Tried it with an identical good phone and the same, so it is not caused by faulty screen/fingerprint reader being damaged. The only thing with the good phone was the mouse moved the pointer on the phone so you could unlock it - but not if you can't see the phone screen. If the author knows how to get around this obstacle it would be good to know for others as well. Phone is an S10. thanks.

ok so i had never plugged a mouse or keyboard into my s10 and never used in dex mode. i had my note9 next to me as i guide so i knew what to do. not entirely sure what i did to remove the lock screen it was easy on note 9 but took more stuffing around on s10. pretty sure when lock screen was up i tapped power button to see some kind of response then unplugged the hub and plugged it back. i think that did it but i was also hitting space,enter clicking and dragging mouse plus pressing bixby button. something worked (my phone was set to swipe to unlock so no code but i would say you could type your code in as keyboard was responding) anyway once that screen went it took me to press OK to start dex mode. press down once on the keyboard which selects OK (learnt that from my note9) then hit enter took me straight to dex mode i opened google authenticator and scanned the barcode. that's all i wanted. i should mention i ran my phone over and had to completely rip the screen off the front of the phone and rip the connection because it was constantly responding to the damage to the screen. it had rocks embedded in it. anyway good luck and sorry for crapping on. also next time i plugged it in it just opened and appeared straight on my tv
Mines just stuck on a Lock Screen the mouse isn’t showing

If anybody is having issues with it not showing on the screen, change the mouse you are using. For some reason some mice will not work with this. I tried a couple of different mice until it popped up on my monitor.
Don't plug the mouse in to start with, make sure you can get it on the screen without the mouse first and then plug the mouse in, if the screen goes black try another mouse.
This method worked with an S10 and an S20.
Just to add, the screen was 100% locked due to the screen being smashed so badly it didnt even light up. And yes i unlocked the screen on the monitor and removed all the locks on the phone.
Can you please share brand and model of mouse you used? My S9 has a broken screen , I tried the above method only to get a black screen with clock when projected to my TV via HDMI I cannot get passed that screen. Ive tried two mice bur to no avail

Guys connect a keyboard with the otg/display cable, use the keyboard to unlock the screen. Then you can plug the hdmi cable to see what is on it.

I tried this with a Galaxy S10.
The monitor recognises the phone but I only see the grey lockscreen with the padlock shown and the time and date, nowhere to input the pin or pattern. ☹

S6 and S7 don't use USB-C

This worked until my battery went flat. Now all I get is the lock screen and am unable to unlock it. I guess the phone needs a first direct unlock before it will except things such as fingerprint ect for security.

Doesn't work for my Samsung S9. The only different thing in my setup is a mouse with a wifi adapter.
In addition a mouse, can connect a USB keyboard to the hub. That allowed me to enter the numeric pass code, which I couldn't do otherwise.
s9 got many complain for broken screen, i already got 2 times experience /SOB
I have exactly the same phone and screen damage, all it shows on the screen through hdmi monitor is a black screen and the time with a padlock and will not do anything else? anyone else get this outcome?
This is Samsung Dex. You still need to unlock it with the phone. I have the same problem. Does not help unfortunately

I see the lock screen on the monitor but the mouse cursor isnt showing up on the monitor so I cant access the phone still. My screen is partially damaged but I cant only see about 10 percent of the screen that works :(
The only problem with any solutions using a usb mouse, you will need to have had to enabled the OTG options on the phone itself. Impossible to do if the phone screen doesnt work, otherwise the mouse wouldn't be recognized at all

Very true. At the beginning you need to give access from phone to proceed.

Ok so I just literally did it with my S10+ today that was showing the same thing your phone did, locked emblem with time and date. Get one of the adapters like in the video but use a bluetooth mouse and keyboard combo usb. You won't be able to see what youre doing but type in your PIN and hit enter and the screen will show up. Unfortunately I assume this only works with PINs and not the pattern
@@crash77777 what is a keyboard combo usb? (nevermind, I looked it up) I'm stuck, seems remote unlock only works if you had it turned on in the first place!!!
I hate to complain or criticize, but this tutorial is somewhat lacking in details. So much can go wrong as you will see in the following comments/questions. If I can get into my own phone I will come back to post (in detail) how I did it. Like a few others my phone is locked and it can't be bypassed because on that phone 'remote unlock' is not turned on. Never thought I'd need it so I never toggled it on, bummer!!!

Just use Dex much easier and faster and you won't need HDMI

I tried this with a Galaxy S10+ and all I get is a floating lock with date and time. I can see mouse hovering on only portion of screen displayed but I cannot access. Any ideas please

This really worked. Everyone else said nothing could be done to access the non-responsive screen on my Galaxy S8. Just want to pass along that it did not work with a Samsung Smart TV, but it did work with an older non-smart TV. So if it doesn't worked on one tv/monitor, try another. Thanks!

If your laptop has an option for HDMI IN then yes. Mostly they only have one output

Yeah. Try finding a USB-C to HDMI then after connect a bluetooth mouse and it will work

Anyone else have the issue that you need to allow the phone to be controlled by the mouse&keyboard... but you can't press "allow" because the phone's screen is what's broken in the first place 🙃

@@dudidoodle3168 If I recall correctly, you connect the connector thingy to your phone and TV through HDMI, the mouse to the connector thingy, and then you turn on your phone. Click around near the bottom of your screen assuming where the mouse is and then it let's you see your phone screen on the TV

I managed to get the phone to appear on TV as wont work on comp. But all I can see is the date and the time and the screen lock. Mouse wont work it seems so cant do anything?

Great idea, worked to unlock my galaxy s10 with a broken / cracked screen. Could not see to type numbers for PIN. The wireless mouse and keyboard let me control the whole phone and I see a full, non broken display on my monitor! I just wish I didn't have to pay all this money to get it replaced now! :) THANKS!!!!! at least now I can finish backing everything up and wiping it for the return. 10/10

When Samsung S10+ is plugged into any monitor, it just opens Samsung Dex and you still need to unlock it via the phone. Which is not possible with a broken screen (Black and broken). Unfortunately this does not work on newer versions of Android

I am able to see my phone's screen on the monitor but the mouse is not working. I connected everything like in the video :(

Thank you! You saved my phone data, I have a S22 Ultra. I called Samsung and they said there was no way I could access my phone and I needed to reset it to the factory reset. I bought a multiport adaptor and was able to access my phone. Thank you again

The problem if I do that is the screen showed on my monitor is not on the center, I just see the midle of the phone screen projected, what Can I do?

Is it really going to work on S7 which does not have usb-c but microusb? All the HDMI hubs seems to have usb-c so I would also need to get a microusb (male) -to usb-c (female) connector.
I tried using the micro usb (male) to usb c (female) connector and it did not power the hub, the connector seems to work ok for charging but not for data transfer etc
I tried this with a Logitech wired mouse but it didn’t work I think I need a specific mouse
