THIS VIDEO WAS A LIFE SAVER!!!!!!! I have a Z Flip 4 and the screen was exactly like the video and att support told me to go to a store and have them do it by a computer. When I went today they just said its impossible to do it without the touchscreen. It had me devastated because my mom just passed away and all my pictures of her were on my old phone. But then I found this gem and I'm going to be forever thankful!

Had an unlocked Verizon Samsung Galaxy with a T-Mobile provider. 4g . Cracked screen. switch to another provider and get a free phone. Asked a cell phone repair/ boost mobile shop how much to replace the screen. 19$ he said with a thick accent. What a bargain I said."sold" came back an hour later when it was finished. 95$ he said. I thought you told me 19. "No I said 90" misunderstood what he said. I told him that he should just say 100. And let them bargain with you. He was from Bangladesh and I am a southern hillbilly 😊 2 hours later I arrived at home. Dropped my phone in the driveway. Wife gets home a few minutes later. Ran over the phone and broke it again 😊😊

This gave me the key i was missing to get to mirroring- a mouse! Thank you so much. Ive been carrying around my almost fully cracked S10 (dropped it for the first and last time down the stairs as i was rushing to class 😫💔) for the past year hoping to figure out a way to use Samsung switch, but its extremely hard without being able to see 80% of the screen. Im going to buy a bt mouse and try to mirror it to my roku so I can undo the settings i set JUST before my phone dropped. If i can do that then i can make it so that all i have to do is plug it into my laptop and files will rransfer easily (dont be like me and make it so that plugging your phone into your computer will only charge it. Leave your options open, no matter how annoying the pop up is 😅)

Man, it worked like a charm in my Fold 3 too. My screens were broken both front and inside the fold. With this method, I could unlock and back up everything before the next steps. THANKS A TON!
I had almost the same situation, my S10 smashed and the touchscreen wasn't working. Likely I had USB c to USB cable and Bluetooth Mouse, didn't had to purchase any ... and it worked.
At first I was hesitant if it would work, but yes IT DID WORK. I was able to upload my recent files and transfer all my documents to my new phone with NO COST. So delighted.

I believe it might work for any smartphone; it would just need wireless mouse(Bluetooth) and USB cable.

Thank you RustyDIY. This worked with a Samsung Galaxy J3(2017) A bit of phone rotation needed to be able to see to tap the Allow when doing the file transfer. Yay!!! So I know have my photos safely downloaded onto my PC and after a lie down in a darkened room shall transfer them to my backup.

I had similar problem with my Samsung S10 accept I could still see my entire screen, top 3/4 touch screen didnt work and I couldn't unlock my phone. I used a corded mouse, worked immediately. You're a genius, thanks for the video.

This works like a champ for me! Dropped my android last night and apparently it was too much. Everything was visible but I could not input anything from the screen. plugged in my laptop mouse and off we go! Now I can at least limp along until my new phone gets here,

I am not technally savy...but when I say this saved my life. OMG, man I love you I had a Samsung S20 Ultra and used the USB-C. I have been made WHOLE! I initiallly cracked my phone a year ago, but did not want to part with it, I filed a claim ro replace it then canceled the claim, as I wasn't confident that all data would transfer. But after taking many nose dives, and ultimatley becoming unaccessable via the screen, I had no other choice to replace. Thank you again, you saved my life!!

Thankfully I kept my pixel usb adapter which I always thought it was extremely useless and I recently broke the touchscreen due to water damage. Repair shops said they couldn't do anything and google's repair price was the same as a brand new phone. Thank you

I have an s23 ultra which I dropped and couldn’t get into it as only half the keyboard was working for password,came across the video which was a god send,didn’t use a wireless but wired usb mouse and entered my phone,I salute you 👍🏽

Worked for my wife’s phone too… initially it didn’t show the mouse cursor… so I thought it would be a hoax… but later when I changed the dongle side and tried again… voila it worked and I was able to open the phone and remove the password lock; now I am planning to take the data backup and buy a new phone… thanks a ton !! 😊🙏🙏🙏

This is a great tip, another thing you can do is if you can't see the screen, and have a number access code - you can plug in a keyboard and enter your passcode using the number pad and hit enter. I had to do this recently with my pixel 7 pro
clever thign to do is sset a finger print scan for you tthumb so you can unlock the phone but if you leave it alone for a long while or shut it off you ahve to enter the password again, a repair guy found a used damaged screen and replaced it for free , but only the top row of buttons for password is the only part where touch doesnt work, so thank you so much for this !!
Thanks I thought about fingerprint or even face recognition to unlock then if the screen ever brakes it should still unlock as long as the camera works for face recognition.

Looks like this might get me out of a spot where my touch screen stopped working after water damage. Just wondering how does this work when you need to connect the data cable?
My Sony asks you to select 'file transfer' when the cable is plugged but in order to connect the data cable means disconnecting the mouse so youd loose control over the screen

Hello, thank you for the video😄. If possible I would like to ask whether you know what I could do with a conpletely broken screen. My screen is completely black, so I suspect that even if I use a mouse that I would have no idea if it is doing something😅. ( I really want to use screen cast you were talking about, but I do not think that I can find it with a broken screen)

This is a late reply but if you use a USB type C adapter hub, you'll be able to see your screen and control it remotely on another device such as a PC or smart TV

I think it was a great idea. After the screen being broken and all the money wanted. Even if there were any adverse effects the savings are huge.
My screen cracked and the touch wont work, however the pen feature works just fine and allows me to access everything on my phone

For others like me, using a bluetooth keyboard, i implemented one further step:
If you have a smart tv, navigate to screen mirroring from dropdown settings on the (Samsung) phone so you can see what you are doing on the tv screen. I presume this can also be done on other phones?

I didn't have a mouse so I used the same usb adapter you have with powera wired nintendo switch controller and I was able to use the d pad to navigate I also use a wire xbox one controller and it worked

I used the very same thing you have and when I connect it up when I connected to any of my phone's the little icon will come up on and it did pop up on the S8 but now for some reason it will not register what might be the problem I know the mouse and connector is working as it works in my other two phones and when I got it working in the S8 once I was able to unlock my pattern using the mouse but when I left the device power down again it is asking for the pattern again but now I cannot get the mouse to connect any suggestions
So, I'm about to try this, and I have to say one thing first. This is probably one of a hand full of videos on YT that has nothing but positive comments lol.

What if you use fingerprint to unlock. I cant see anything on my phone screen other than dull colours and shaking. When I touch the back with my finger i can just make out the home screen, but its still showing as locked on my computer. I have so many photos i need to get off. I found an old adapter like the one you are using but it wont work and im so upset close to tears that I will lose my precious photos :(

I've seen a usb hub with hdmi output, if your phone supports it you can plug into a TV also a mouse and keyboard.
In my case, the phone had to be unlocked before it would mirror to the monitor. I couldn't unlock it bc the screen was both non-responsive and I could only see a very small piece of it. This was a great solution to be able to unlock it if you have some visibility of the phone screen

Aw that's a shame, it's horrible loosing your stuff on your phone. There was a comment on here I think about being able to still get your stuff off have a look think it was fairly recent maybe last few months
And one about using a keyboard so might be able to use a keyboard type your password in then unplug quickly plug your USB lead into the computer and try transfer your files. ? Maybe

Hello, can I just use a normal computer mouse and that usb C thingy that comes with the phone?
I never tried cos I didn't have a wired mouse but please let me know if it dose I don't see why I wouldn't work
