You are life savior. I accidentally dipped my phone into water and screen touch is no longer working. As you suggested, I plugged in a dongle which has usb input, and plugged in keyboard. Viola, keyboard controlling the screen worked!!

The problem is that people generalize smartphone broken screen issues. Solving the problem varies a lot. From phone features like cast or wireless display to settings like USB debugging or trusted computer. I do expect each phone to be passworded but that too is a problem. Default USB to PC configuration and lot more, each case has its peculiarities and unique requirements

I think it's important for people to know that with some phones, using a bluetooth mouse or keyboard may not work. My pixel 6 pro had a cracked screen but the bluetooth debugging wasn't activated in the settings so the mouse wasn't recognized. I plugged in a usb cabled keyboard and got success. What if the prompt to unlock phone is pattern? Also, you're saying this will only work if you previously changed the settings anticipating you breaking your screen / touch feature in the future?
If it is pattern, you'd have to do a blind guess. There are some devices that have USB-C display port output function so that's another option if you hadn't enabled USB-C debugging before the screens demise

I tried to transfer the data directly to my new phone but without unlocking the phone and selecting the prompts that's just not possible. Google disabled USB-C Display port output for most cheaper adapters on Pixel 7 (a very dump decision). However, certified Display link dock can work. I'll send you a link later. I obvious that Google didn't pay for some certification to allow it work on simple adapters. Unfortunately, Certified Display docks cost around $150 - $250 and at that price, it is better to buy a replacement screen from Aliexpress
It should work for iPhone from iPhone 6s and newer but the problem is that if the iPhone has iOS 12 or newer, Apple turned off USB accessories off. If you didn't turn it on before screen break, you are screwed

Is there any way to disable touchscreen but allow the mouse to work? The screen is visible, but it will randomly tap everywhere. I found a way to use the phone with scrcpy and using option --turn-screen-off which allows for my model of phone to see the screen on computer and use it. But this means I wouldnt be able to use the phone with a mouse without a pc because I would have to have the screen off with some method I see that there are options with software to disable touchscreen, but this seems actually disables all input including mouse.

You have multiple problems here! If you fix your screen, them you are most likely to lost every data in the phone. I'll suggest you fix or replace the screen first. Next is to check if your phone has a locked bootloader or rooted. I don't know if all the efforts will be worth the photos inside the phone but if it is that important, then you should do it

A lightning cable hub with usb and HDMI, you can plug it into an external display via HDMI and you can use a mouse and keyboard just incase the touch isn't actually working.

Not if the OEM doesn't make a provision for that. That could be possible in some phones that the manufacturer added display port or the USB port combines as display output

First, it depends on the the Tablet. Does it have OTG functionality? If it has then you can use OTG to connect mouse or keyboard. You can then turn on Bluetooth or WiFi and share files. You can also use USB cable to directly share files

I think P20 has the USB-C display port output function. You should check out the video description and select the link to the Huawei product or check for it in your local stores
It depends on some things: Does the phone has a Lockscreen security? Is the default USB connection set to charge only? Was USB debugging turned on before the screen got blank?

Plug it in and see what happens. It will certainly not explode. If the screen still works, you can quickly get out any important information in it before either replacement of screen or sending it to refuse dump

I need to understand what you are saying more. You can use a USB splitter or hub to add more than one device like using mouse 🖱 and keyboard.

No you don't need USB debugging for that but you'll need it if you want to use any type of USB mirroring

You have multiple problems here! If you fix your screen, them you are most likely to lost every data in the phone. I'll suggest you fix or replace the screen first. Next is to check if your phone has a locked bootloader or rooted. I don't know if all the efforts will be worth the photos inside the phone but if it is that important, then you should do it

No, it will require a few drivers integration. Some phones don't even have OTG function

I have an issue with phone buttons, when I connect Samsung S8 it mirrors the screen of a phone with a buttons under section, while connecting Samsung S7/J7 it shows up only a screen without buttons section, so I'm not able to click "back" or others.... A lightning cable hub with usb and HDMI, you can plug it into an external display via HDMI and you can use a mouse and keyboard just incase the touch isn't actually working.

In my case the USB debugging was already on. I said that so you can understand the whole process.
The Part 2 will be out in 1 or 2 weeks time. That doesn't require USB debugging.

i think we got the same smartphone. unfortunately on android 12 the keyboard on lock screen seems not working but i'm not sure because my phone screen and touch is completely dead. i hope i can turn on debug usb in some way...
Turning on debug mode will be very hard if not done prior to the dead screen. You can get a cheap replacement screen from Aliexpress

You can use OTG adapter with mouse 🖱 connection or Bluetooth mouse 🖱 for precise clicks but nothing can be done much about the touch

Not if the OEM doesn't make a provision for that. That could be possible in some phones that the manufacturer added display port or the USB port combines as display output

It will require you to send it to advanced lab that can read the phone storage chip and send you back the data but that could be very expensive.

It does but you'll need to get a compatible lightening adapter. Newer iOS versions can disable it by default though

First, it depends on the the Tablet. Does it have OTG functionality? If it has then you can use OTG to connect mouse or keyboard. You can then turn on Bluetooth or WiFi and share files. You can also use USB cable to directly share files

Yes your explainin' is alright but what about the case when you have a broken screen that gives completely black screen.
It depends on three things:
Your settings before the screen was broken.
Your phone OEM support
And USB-C display port function

I think P20 has the USB-C display port output function. You should check out the video description and select the link to the Huawei product or check for it in your local stores

It depends on some things:
Does the phone has a Lockscreen security?
Is the default USB connection set to charge only?
Was USB debugging turned on before the screen got blank?
@@SmartDepot 1. Lockscreen is passed with fingerprint. 2. USB Connection is set to charge only, can't change it because the screen is black and doesn't detect touch (put it in talk back mode but can't interact without touch.)

wait, but the top part of the screen, above the battery symbol, where the face cam is, on my old phone is gone.. ( the part of that screen is broken and cracked off so I can see the insides..) and it is moost certainly not clean.. what do I do? im scared to plug it in
Plug it in and see what happens. It will certainly not explode. If the screen still works, you can quickly get out any important information in it before either replacement of screen or sending it to refuse dump
