I never had a grandma.. im glad to see someone was blessed with a beautiful Grandma!! And all her authentic food.. recipes from her childhood... omg what a blessing!!!
One of the many things I love about this show is you watch celebrity chefs with their fancy knife skills. These women remind me of my Neapolitan Nonna who cut everything with a kitchen knife, right into the pot.
This has always amazed me. Even a modest American kitchen has a set of a 8 or 10 knives--paring knives, 2 sizes of chef's knives, boning and filleting knife, bread knife, carving knife, etc.--and yet these amazing cooks do everything with a little "nonna knife" and their thumb! Like the narrator says, when all the ingredients are "i migliori," you don't need fancy, foreign techniques.
It seems like many of them use the "Nonna knife" and this special technique which entails pushing the object towards the knife and stopping the knife with the thumb. I see it all the time.
This made me cry because my father taught me this tecnique and I didn't realize it was something my grandmother taught him. I couldn't stop thinking about her during rhis video, she was sicilian and she always used to make pasta and I loved her so much and I couldn't even imagine how much I would love for her to be here. Now I'm gonna think about her when I cut the vegetables directly into the pan, thank you for this ♡
What a beautiful woman!!! She produced a gorgeous family as well. God bless her, she is the sweetest. So cute how she proudly showed her creations. I miss my grandmothers...
I love this woman! She is so proud to show her crafts. Her decorated St Josephs breads were the most beautiful I've ever seen! 😍She needs more time to show all of her talents. So precious..thank you for sharing her with me..viva Italia! 🇮🇹❤
This brings me back many years ago when my mom dad grandma were all alive. Every sunday we did this. How I miss those times. Family is everything. Because of this. I keep my life simple
This has to be in contention for the least dislikable channel on UA-cam. Who dare dislike lovable and talented grannies who spread joy to their families, and now the world through delicious food.
That's how my Italian dad taught me to make tagliatelle, who learned from his mom, who learned from hers... This was emotional to watch! I miss them all.
What a lovely, vibrant lady! She does not look 90. Her grandkids are so lucky to be able to spend so much time with her and learn from her. I helped my grandma with her garden every year until she passed at 94. She would make me homemade Mac and cheese for lunch, and chocolate cake for my birthday.
This series features such sincere, talented women that are so proud of what they're doing. Each new video has me smiling like a goof the whole time. Thanks for this, please keep making these!
How beautiful is she!! I am only 60yrs old with health issues. I can barely even get out of bed to cook. I used to love to cook!! God bless this woman!! My German husband grew up early year's in Italy. His memories of how they started the sauce in the morning as it cooked all day long.
Caterina is lovely, God Bless her. I dislike Eggplant, Tomatoes and Garlic, my father is from Sicily my mother Naples. But like I said Caterina is a lovely treasure
Right? Who the hell is giving any of these old women a thumbs down. Maybe because they don't give the exact ingredients? Not like anyone's going to make this stuff - it looks too hard - but they don't deserve a thumbs down for crying out loud
Yeah, i seriously don’t understand how people can actively dislike videos like these. Sure, you may not enjoy this food but the whole vibe is positive and good. We live in a strange world.
@@LogicalMan-hw3wj Try not to get bent out of shape from down votes. Its a huge world with all kinds of people. Who knows, they could be their neighbors or friends and its personal. It could be someone from Naples who dislike Sicilians on general principles. People that if you met them you would think they are wonderful too. Whatever with 8 billion people in the world who knows
These are real women making homemade food from their gardens to the table, also crocheting the pot holders just wonderful. She's so proud of her creations. She should be...she can do it all. Super woman. Beautiful.
Wow, wow, wow!! At her age she is running around and standing there and cook everything from scratch. I take my hat off to her. The way she works that dough for the pasta and roll it out, that's a pro at work. Will take me ages to do that. Your family are blessed to sit at your table, you are the real deal that Proverbs 31 in the Bible is talking about, doing needlework, baking those beautiful breads, look at that beautiful veggie garden... I can see there is no end to your talents. Excellent work, we can learn a lot from you. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Both my grandmothers were from Napoli and like all these wonderful grannies they NEVER used cutting boards, they cut everything with a basic knife while holding the vegetable. So endearing and wonderful to watch 🥰
Reminds me of my nonna, Gina, when I was growing up. Sunday fresh pasta, sauce, eggplant, breads, figs, and all kinds of other fresh vegetables from the garden in Bronx, NY, where she lived. There is NOTHING like a grandmothers love!!! ❤️
It's privilege in true sense to have grandparents around when you're young. It teaches and reminds of what the end of the rat race looks like. If the grandparents are still as jovial and full of life at 90 years of age as this Italian grandma is, it's a hallmark of a life led to the fullest.
she's a skilled tradesperson in "home craft": running a household, growing a garden, making cheese, knitting, cooking to professional standards, baking decorative breads; those kids are numbnuts compared to her, she runs like a machine.
I'm Italian, proudly descending from a long line of peasant-farmers in the northern eastern corner of Ital and it's heartwarming to see these videos. Kudos for all the efforts you all make to find, interview and translate these lovely example of my country's great variety of material culture and culinary traditions. With the recipes cooked by our grandmothers and he family scenes, you convey to a wider audience two of true strengths: a constant connection with the local cultivated land and the continuing - albeit waning- importance of families' heritage and traditions across the generations. Keep it up!
My mother is from Sicily near the area where this lovely lady comes from. She does her eggplant the same way. I hope her grandchildren will follow her traditions.
She's so Precious! ❤️❤️❤️ We should always Cherish our grandparents, their stories, their food, their lifestyle, their hardships is what gave us life and opportunity in this new age world! I loved how she shows off the Crochet hand towels. 🤗🤗🤗
My granny from Mantova was used to make tagliatelle with a knife like this lady did. She also “tirava la sfoglia con il mattarello” 🤣 like this wonderful lady.
I recently found this channel and i really love the idea. There should be something similar for every country. The recipes of our grannies must not be forgotten!
Aw thank you for explaining! lovely lady with the lovely recipe but I waited lasagna with eggplants looks like a spaghetti with the eggplant now I know why😀
I doubt that, because the word losagna derives from the French losagne, which firstly appeared around 1300 (and it is a derivate from a more ancient word). The most common explanation for the word is the Greek origin lasana, which became lasanum in (vulgar) Latin. The word's meaning is 'pot'. The word later eventually became the name of a typical dish that was made in this pot, we know today: lasagne. That could explain why lasagne doesn't always look like the typical bolognese version.
Very interesting, but in the end nobody in Italy calls this kind of pasta "lasagne" but "tagliatelle" or "fettuccine". Anyway this Is the ONLY channel representing the real italian way of cooking, all the others have something fake, or too sophisticated or completely made up...italian channels as well. Unfortunately this heritage Is slowly fading with the loss of our grandmothers, mostly in the North of Italy.
I can't get enough of these adorable women. I love how Caterina is so excited to show off her beautiful bread skills and her crocheting. I can't wait for the next book!
Caterina Queen of lasagna. Lovely, beautiful, adorable nonna. Her cooking OMG. Her bread and crochet OMG too. Grazie again for this wonderful moments with these amazing grannies😊

I got a little emotional when she became excited to show off her knitted pot holders 💛. Reminded me of my grandmother.
She does it all. Crochets, makes pasta, grows vegetables, makes cheese and the rolling pin skills which always blows me away. Delicious looking meal!
Not to forget that amazing decorative bread making...she is such a sweetheart 😊💖
