Thanks for watching! Jump and go!
I saw this game oneyplays before
I'm sure if it weren't for Ding Dong, nobody would really know about the Kiwi
Rapists beware. You're in for a scare!
i was so happy when they played it
Who?
@@AlphaZeroX96 me
I like that you saw what is essentially a dance version of the Japanese equivalent to "The ants come marching" and went "dude this is fucking awesome" and dived down a rabbit hole to find it and got some old CDs to find the full version
If Jumping Flash wasn't in the thumbnail I would have no idea this was a Jumping Flash video
:(
Wait… this isn’t about OPN?
Hahaa!
Takes less than a minute to start talking about jumping flash 😢
I havnt watched the vid yet but. Good thag means it's good
zoomie attention spans (I am a zoomie)
I loved how you just get distracted and just talk about something different entirely. Just feels like you’re talking to a random friend about random thoughts. It also expresses the idea that you’re just having fun and love making these videos, it’s super nice.
ain't a lute video unless it takes 10 minutes of side tangents to get to what the titles about one hundred emoji
Hey you dropped this 🫴 💯
this is like an evil cybershell video
"I'm going to have to make a whole video called there's something offensive about genocide!"
I knew it reminded me of something
Wasn't expecting a Chadwarden ytp in the middle but certainly a welcome surprise
I love the Jumping Flash Kiwi. His little “mee mee” is silly. They are my friends
He's mind boggling
@@Josuh MIND BOGGLING EFFECTS
I've looked for a source for that sound effect for years 😭
The kiwi can produce mind boggling effects
I'm so glad I finally found where that kiwi came from
you know the video is gonna be dope when the first 10 minutes consist of a tangent on something niche and fascinating you didn’t know about
I love how your videos will just temporarily sidetrack to talk about some rabbit hole or weird thing you found/thought of.
Ugo Ugo Ruuga looks really interesting and i'm going to show my friend it later.
holy fellow acolyte of mothman
>OPN thumbnail
>CAN album cover shown when 1973 is mentioned
extremely based
That ULTRA tangent was absolutely fascinating. Please don't be afraid to cover stuff like that, even as a full video.
"who knew in the future they'd all be wearing thigh highs"
Bruh
That's gotta be the first chadwarden reference I've seen in ten years.
The gunvolt 3 stray was unexpected but came from a place of true honesty and virtue. I can only salute the dedication
I wish I liked it more lol. First game is nice though
Just bought it on sale, I already expected the story to be trash based on the second game but don’t tell me the gameplay takes a turn for the worse too :(
Can you show when he mentioned Gunvolt? I sadly missed it.
@@popeprinny4705I’m even a fan of the second game’s story but 1.) the gameplay is very repetitive and limited to one character if you actually play well (Gunvolt is an easy-mode crutch, you only plays as Kirin otherwise) and 2.) the story takes a nosedive after anything established in the first two games to do whatever it wants (and what it wants is bad)
I read about how Penny's Big Breakaway was inspired by Jumping Flash and that led me down a rabbit (LIKE THE GUY FROM THE GAME) hole of seeing what this game is about. Glad that led me to your channel. Great stuff and I'll try to check out both the Jumping Flash series and Forza Polpo!
Love to see Jumping Flash getting more attention. Btw the voice is not actually Robbit, but an AI helper that’s bobbing at the top of the HUD. You can even change the AI in JF2.
Mad respect for going out of your way to help unearth those CDs.
Baron Aloha was right all along.
I'm so glad youtube recommended this channel. These are the passionate, uncensored deep dives into cult classic games that made me love the platform. I also appreciate you telling people to "just download the ROM". There are far too many gatekeeping boomers in retro gaming who insist on playing on real hardware with a $500 Sony trinitron CRT off ebay for "muh scanlines."
I'm surprised you didn't show off garungorp's mouse injector hack. It makes the game feel perfectly like a modern fps game, down to removing the camera pointing down when you jump.
I thought I've seen it all, but the Ugo Ugo Ruga tangent is the tangent to end all tangents
Got Chadwarden jumpscared I love this channel already
Great video doot. That song forever gets stuck in my head now
rip lute nuts :'(
🫡
i really love your editing and ranting style, great video!
semendemon420 sounds like a _fictional_ username that you see in the corner of an on-screen screen for four seconds. Lmfaooooooooooo
When the Chad Warden YTP came on, I knew I had to subscribe to this once-in-a-lifetime generational talent
Your videos feel like an invitation into your little chill zone. Some of my fav youtube content lately
I love your videos i dont care what you yap about I WILL WATCH IT
17:50 I appreciate you leaving this in it made me laugh heartily
THATS WHERE MY PFP COMES FROM????
Rare to find a kiwi fan who doesn't know its origin
It's a shame you didn't get to play it before, but nothing is stopping you now!
@@EmilXOM I thought it was from MUCK lmao
0:36 I can't believe this video is how I found out that Link from Good Mythical Morning has herpes
BUN BUN BUN
i had no idea what this video was about when i clicked on it i just saw a really funky low poly kiwi in the thumbnail and immediately started the video
kissing you on the mouth for that intro tangent, you truly get the vision B)
I think you talked too much about jumping flash in this ugo ugo ruuga video
Funny that pan pizza was just talking about this same obscure show in his last vid
@@theharvardyard2356 yea and pan pizza video is also not about ugo ugo ruuga. ugo ugo ruuga become the most trivial show on youtube
Good video.
The master recognizes the apprentice.
i fucken love tarantulas!!! i wish more people would come around to arachnids, such wicked and interesting little creatures
Yo, that intro tangent about the story of finding the song was awesome.
Instant fan, thank you.
this video is the real jumping flash 3
I'm super glad this video found it's way to my recommended feed.
we love jumping flash in this household
this video came out at a perfect time for me. real life stuff is shitty rn so i enjoy the comfort of your content. I understand all of your references and I think you actually explain why games are fun instead of trying to make a video that would sound good to an English 101 professor.
Lute your videos are an absolute delight every time I see them. I cant wait to snuggle up in bed and have a grand ol' time watching this. Genuinely brings me infinity joy
30:25 cooking with cybershell!
Man, I always get excited when you post something. Your writing and editing style is excellent. It's very chill and real. You just say what's on your mind and I love that. And I always enjoy the tangents and hearing just how passionate you are about your topics too. It's like listening to your bud talk about a niche topic they love and sure I've never heard of Jumping Flash before but dang I'm glad I know about it now! Good shit.
Also the year has been a rough start for me too. But hopefully things will mellow out in the coming months. Thanks for checkin in. Hope your rocky start becomes smooth sailing my friend. Also I'm so happy to see your channel has grown! I remember back when you only had a couple thousand subs! Glad to see people are enjoying your videos and I'm looking forward to the next one!
i absolutely loved every second of the ugo ugo ruuga segment at the start. you a upper echelon video maker for me and a lotta people keep it up!!!
New sub here! You made these games sound really appealing so I'll probably check them out on your recommendation. Thanks for making the video!
oh shit new lute. oh my god
I just randomly found your channel and I think I'm going insane. This video is like a mix or Running Shine with a bunch of ytp/vgm/ripping culture shit in here, like what is happening. How is this so good. Instasubbed.
I actually discovered Jumping Flash through the PlayStation Classic of all things. Was really enamored with the ascetics and vibe. I think i played it the most of anything on that thing. Going to check out the second one now. Thanks for the great video as always!
You're my favorite person with a cat pfp. Love your videos.
i cant express enough how much i love this channel and all these neat little things i get to learn about - the concept of oyaji gals genuinely sounds like the greatest tag ever conceived. i can only hope that some suspiciously wealthy fan of your content will also fall in love with the concept and commission somebody to carry the torch left by chusonji 😭😭
New Lute video really made my day
Jumping flash was unique, and I saw it from your community post that you made about it a few months ago and decided to play it on PlayStation 5. It was like 90s video gaming all capsulated in one thing and it was awesome, a really fun time to platinum.
That GITS segment felt very personal. Also happy to see you again lute.
I used to practice "Bun Bun Bun"/Summ summ summ on a piano as a Child. I'm pretty sure it was originally a German nursery rhyme. That section reminded me of it lol
That is a fucking plot twist. Now I have to play it at my party!
This was a perfect 1 am watch, thank you Lute!
thank u chad warden production i also like jumping flash.
The weird Tangent style of this video is so fresh from the abundance of pretentious video essays on UA-cam right now. Feels real personal and natural while also showing how passionate you were about the topic.
i like to think robbit is intergalactic buddies with marina liteyears and bomberman
I've never subscribed to a channel faster than this one. You're editing and sense of pacing are top notch and the comedy is fantastic as well. I love how you just ramble on and get sidetracked by different topics but the aforementioned great pacing helps it all feel more coherent. I hope your channel really blows up one day because you deserve it.
I always love learning new obscure media from your videos, both related and unrelated to the video topic itself. I never owned a copy of Jumping Flash myself, but the after-school club I went to when I was little had a PS1 with a whole collection of games they got from some charity. My friends always found me weird to play the bizarre looking Japanese games like Parappa and Gitaroo Man, and ofc Jumping Flash. Somethin' about those old colorful 3D/2D platformers with the prerendered cutscenes and bizarre looking visuals were just so appealing to me, it's a delight to see people have the same feelings, especially expressing them through a video essay. I'ma go listen to Ugo Ugo Ruuga now, thank you Lute, hope IRL gets better soon for you
Dude the fuckin Chad Warden bit FLOORED me 😂
Always such a good time watching these.
Really chill video Lute, thanks for the content as always. Never heard of this game before, might check it out, seems like a good time.
ALSO, first time hearing your music, that credits song at the end is a bop! :)
Now this is the kind of shit I want to see in my recommended tab. Your old 4chan user vibes are fantastic and you're definitely getting a sub from me.
ur so much cooler than me it makes me upset
Just as I was looking into Jumping Flash too. Your timing is impeccable
I really do think this is the best video on youtube, thank you
I picked up a copy of this game at a convention nearly five years ago, but only got around to actually playing it after this video so thank you!!! Kicking myself that I didn't find this channel years ago, you have such a great sense of pacing both in general and comedically.
Tbh the beginning of the video reminds me when I was showing my friends the Rayman sings sexbomb video which ended up devolving into us finding out about this german guy named Max Raabe and how that wasn't the only cover he ended up doing. My friend ended up scouring the entire internet for both the albums and made a little mock one for download (and even then he still couldn't find a full version of one of the songs). they are actually really good tbh Id recommend listening to the whole album the covers are actually really good, heck some I prefer over the original song tbh
EDIT: btw if I had to recommend one song in total to listen to, his Another day in paradise is SO GOOD like actually its like 10x better then the original song
Just listened to Another Day in Paradise. Thanks for the recommendation!
The video is weird, but finding a max raabe recommendation in the comments might even be weirder.
banger of a video. also glad u brought up Intelligent Qube on that demo disc bc that was one of the first 3D games to scare me - that sound of the platforms crumbling as you fuck up the puzzles was sheer terror, and fall into an infinite black void in eerie silence was something my 1997 brain wasn't ready for
Best content creator
This was an absolute joy watching this video. I heard about Jumping Flash from The Completionist (I think) way before he did his Alzheimer’s scam, and having to watch another video about this game is fucking awesome. Great shit.
#Freesemendemon420
If I had a penny for every video I watched this year that mentioned and showcased Ugo Ugo Ruuga.
I would have 2 cents witch isnt a lot but its weird it happened twice
For the longest time, i was the only person i knew who had jumping flash and jumping flash 2. I used to mention it to friends and they thought i was making the game up. I now own the three NTSC-J versions and pocket muu muu just because i love the game so much.
I love random old house like that. It's important to get these things digitised. Good work mate.
sometimes it feels like these videos were tailor-made for me personally with the things you talk about and reference even though I have no idea who you are.
i found the first quarter of the video to be the most interesting, i love shows and generally, people that don’t treat young kids like idiots. and seeing footage of the show just makes me mesmerized in a way. i’d love to watch it!
Someone start a petition for a Jumping Flash remake.
Something cool about Ugo Ugo Ruuga: Rodney Greenblat, the PaRappa the Rapper guy, had a cartoon segment on it called Rodney Guy with short like half a minute long episodes but a sort of continuous storyline. It ends with not one, but TWO gay weddings (and a straight one). It's all uploaded on youtube with english narration on top of the japanese one, which is kinda bizarre. (I think it might be Rodney Greenblat himself doing the english narration? I'm not sure.)
I was 9 years old when I first played Jumping Flash at launch. My dad rented it for me from Blockbuster and I fell asleep playing the first night. Like you talk about, the imagery was very cool to a kid and unique at the time. Thanks Dad.
this game looks so charming, love when creative people just put all the little random things that are barely related to the main subject into the end product. also, thanks for putting those albums on your second channel, looking forward to listening to them later :D really glad that it turned out to be exactly what you were looking for, like a reward for all you're crazy research.
but, uh, your friend might have a crush on you if they're buying you 400$ niche albums from another country. maybe not, they might just really like your music and videos and want to help you indulge in whatever random thing you get fixated on next
ii'm ace so my idea of romance is as accurate as my adhd sense of time :P
I love jumping flash. Played through both of them while sick and it cured me
Alpha Waves mention. Nice! I hope you keep making videos, they're greatly appreciated.
Jumping Flash is a game that's stuck in my mind for a long time.
Another great video Lute!
I always appreciate how I can watch a video of yours on a topic I'm familiar with and be introduced to new games/music.
Just found your video exactly when I wanted to get into Jumping Flash too. Plus I didn't know about that rabbit hole of Ugo Ugo Ruga, very interesting.
Sir, you earned a new subscriber 👍🏻.
Love when you go on tangents about things you found interesting, becuase I find them interesting too.
incredibly refreshing pace of video thanks for feeling free to express your broader thoughts and i hope they receive more exposure cause they are pretty funny
"babe wake up, new lute upload"
Aw hell nah, they done put Robbit inside R plus Seven
i learned of ugo ugo ruuga because it was one of the first Japanese works that Rodney Greenblat worked on, there was a segment in the show called “Rodney guy” where some guy named Rodney would create weird creatures that forced to suffer with some weird machine that makes thing he draws, then someone at somy would see these segments and then he would work on parappa and other stuff i guess idk why are reading this im tired
Great video, cant wait for HFOTC4.
THE GUNVOLT SHADE OUT OF NOWHERE LMAO
High-Impact First Person Platformer *Jumping Flash* fucking owns dude, hell yeah
edit: All of the digressions and extra context around the guys that made _High-Impact First Person Platformer _*_Jumping Flash_* were really good and cool! another great vid dude hell yeah
If anything, I think it'd make more sense to compare this game to mech sims of the era, like Earthsiege et al, with how its movement and shooting works. Only with a cutesy eclectic visual style and rabbit robots. 10/10
The first time I played this was during lunch breaks (technically dinner breaks, since I worked the late shift) on my PSP, because it was the first time I'd ever had half-hour breaks of any kind, and needed something to do, and it was great for that. Not sure why I've never played the second one, but I'll definitely be checking that out soon, and that music side channel even sooner.
And you are absolutely right: kids aren't stupid! My lady used to work on one of those "Why, it's 1864, of course!" historical farms, and you couldn't slip ANYTHING past them; they're a lot sharper than most adults give them credit for.
