2:29 “erekutoropurankuton” is written in japanese katakana, which is essentially the english language written in japanese characters, and therefore with a lot more of the letters U and O. in japanese, those two letters are often not pronounced, and are common because of how the japanese language is written. also, in japanese, the L sound and R sound are the same thing, With all that in mind, “erekutoropurankuton” is pronounced… electroplankton.
This video brought me back to the times i had to plan a funeral for my DS because it died or smtn, i recall playing a really weird game surrounding balls throwing or something like that, so its kinda nice to have a video that talks about those forgotten, non-mainstream DS games, good job Mel! Also loved how you used the new puppet mel and the clone high gandhi cameo
Mel, how could you have forgotten the most important DS game of all time: My Stop Smoking Coach!? Dishonor on you! Dishonor on your family! Dishonor on your cow!
There’s more to squishy tanks, they’re based off some Japanese shorts called yawaraka sensha (やわらか戦車) that are pretty popular. So much so that their song got into taiko no tatsujin based off of the first two episodes of the short, the ura chart is insane and it took me a while to full combo it. Honestly I kinda just wanted a reason to talk about the taiko inclusion lol.
Wait, what?! Which Taiko game?! I don't think it was on any of the DS versions I played... Unrelated, but one of the DS Taiko games did include data for a McDonald's promotion! You could get a Happy Meal toy that'd play some audio, which the DS microphone could record and would give you things like a specially made McDonald's song and a worker's uniform for Don-Chan.
@@plant7371 it wasn’t in any of the ds games, it’s in the ps vita game and it is dlc for the ps4, the second 3ds game, and is apart of the subscription pass for rhythm festival on switch

39:56 The bigger stylus is for little kids who can't grip the stylus yet. They use their fist to grab it, which is hard for a toddler to grab something like that. Kinda like how there's bigger pencils and crayons for the same reason

18:56 The eCDP is an interesting case imo. Every large private business and every corporation would like to indoctrinate their workers; sort of create a cult for their laborers and their customers. But the large majority of them, imo, are too lazy and condescending to make anything better than training materials that talk down to their staff. The eCDP actually shows a level of care and production that might actually endear their staff to them! Is it part of a sinister plot, is it because McDonald's Japan cares, or is it both?
Kinda surprised there’s no mention of Kuruma de DS, the Japanese only DS game that connects to your car. Really cool stuff though, I had never heard of most of these.
with the same text to speech engine as Tomodachi collection, and Bluetooth circuitry as in that Pokemon typing game. Too bad it needed a Japanese GPS for it to work.
Wow holy shit where have you been all my life? Your content is amazing, your gags both grand and subtle are hilarious. I am in love with you. God bless the youtube algorithm for recommending me this video. Fun fact: my buddy and I went all the way to level 100 in classic bubble booble for the DS. You need two copies of the game, not DS download, but the nice thing about co-op is if someone dies, they can come back with all their lives as long as the other player is still alive!

The weirdest ds game I've played was the rabbids one where they like to shock themselves on lamp posts so they think the moon is one giant lamp post to fulfill there shock kink desire
I can say for 100% certain that they do very much have video games for retail workers lol. When I worked at Walmart, I had to play two of them. One was a weird minigame where I had to learn the history of Walmart by creating a museum display from stuff found in the game. At one point I had to find a very tiny Sam Walton hiding in the shelves like a fucking Elf on a Shelf. I laughed till I cried. The other was a FUCKING VR GAME. LIKE ACTUALLY. It was called "empathy training" and we had to play as a cashier getting verbally abused by customers to learn how to "empathize" with them. Like I needed a headset strapped to my face to experience that. Anyways, tl;dr, yeah retail games exist lmao
41:44 this actually brought me agony because they’re electronic. You flip the on switch on the bottom and then press their back symbol, and then they roll around and make funny noises, if they bump into something they turn around due to the sensor button on their nose.
the two things i have reasonably learned from this video is that silly bandz have very much infested people's houses to the point of requiring exterminators, and that i should be glad that the house i live in didn't suffer such a harrowing situation of those unusually shaped rubber bands invading every nook and cranny possible
I'm just happy to see the Melody puppet sticking around, ever since that 31 Minutos vid rekindled my love for that show seeing puppets just seems to tickle my brain chemistry the right way. That and Melody's genuine contempt for that Kiwi probably added at least a whole month to my life expectancy.
Once had a kid steal my silly band on the playground. Chased the dude around screaming at him to give it back, and after a bit some girl fuckin tackled the guy, wrestled it from his hands and gave it back to me. The amount of dedication in the jokes in these videos is so good, the fact that they kicked you out of Walmart (for the scream I assume) and the bits with Mini-Melody were fantastic! Great job as always ^^
The Ds has some of the most creative and unique games of all time, we've gone backwards, I want a true TWEWY sequel, i enjoyed the jank and playing 2 characters at the same time dammit
The mobile and Switch ports look cool, and all, but, having played every port of TWEWY that exists so far, way too much of the core experience is lost when you don’t have two screens. Which is sad because TWEWY is one of the few DS games that fully justified having that second screen
as the guy who watched bumbles mcfumbles’ vid on yuji naka, my only thought during the ivy the kiwi? segment was “hah, the game made by the guy who would go on to make balan wonderworld”
Idk if anyone has said this already but in 39:40 those bigger styluses help toddlers learn a skill called "prehension," the ability to grip things with your fingers. This is also why they make those GIGANTIC triangle shaped pencils and crayons for toddlers, so its easier for their small chubby fingers to grip.
The “you need a bath” segment has me in tears 🤣 What also has me in tears is Entei, who is permanently on a walk as my Pokéwalker went through the laundry machine when I was like 8 years old. Rest in piss 💗
i just found your channel with this video but i have to say this is my favorite editing!! most fun ive ever seen!!! the sound effects, the rainbow border, the background of your character, the character itself, it all just makes me so happy!!! :) very delightful! 11/10 would watch again

This is so fucking awesome. I absolutely LOVE how much better your videos have gotten. It went from good to amazing real quick, thank you so much for the massive effort!
oooohohoh i'm excited to get into this! i got an R4 card for my ds when i was in high school and absolutely surrounded myself in the weirdest games i could find (in between repeat playthroughs of ouendan and tokimemo girls side ofc) the DS holds such a special place in my heart, i feel like it came out at a really good time. all the experimentation with the new format made for some really unique experiences
The Korg DS-10 was used by Jamie Stewart on the album "Dear God I Hate Myself" by Xiu Xiu. It can be heard on the title track, "Apple for a Brain", and "Secret Motel". The Driver's Ed game also has different people, like a woman or some chubby dude with a beard. (also i notice she likes aimkid and onlysmallbites hell ye)
Really fun video I loved it! Jokes aside: the actual reasons why styluses for children are huge and bulky are kind of simple: Firstly, young children lack a lot of fine motor skills, making picking up the thinner styluses accurately to be kind of difficult for them, so most tools for children are thick, wide, and easy to grasp Secondly, but probably not the biggest reason, but thicker styluses are probably harder to swallow and risk asphyxiation with.
This is a stupid and petty correction, but for the most part, Age of Empires is actually a realtime strategy game. The port to the DS may have been turn-based, but the popular PC game was real-time. My family played a lot of it together when I was young, and my brother is still into it -- apparently there's still a competitive scene going, two and a half decades after its release. Great video! I love your sense of humor and the cute little animations also! Im so glad you brought up the pokewalker! I loved that thing, it was so cool! Such a big part of the social aspect of pokemon in my elementary school.
Oh I actually know why styluses for kids are bigger! It's because kids still have to learn how to use their fine motor skills! Gross motor skills are movements such as grabbing and walking, things animals can do too! Fine motor skills are like a whole different thing for finer movements like pointing, buttoning a shirt and writing/drawing! I don't know the exact science to it, especially not in English, but I thought it'd be interesting to share :oD
The stylus for babies is really big because they don't have good control of their little hands yet. So something big is easier to hold onto. See: those really thick pencils you see sometimes. It's just easier for people with less dexterity, and that includes babies.
I'm surprised to hear you're afraid of Silly Bandz since you're also apparently such a huge fan of sounding. Similar to themed mac and cheese, the shapes really add a lot of texture to the experience.

You're so hilarious and creative, seriously keep it up you awesome human being. 💕 But what I wanted to say was I'm so happy you're a Yokai-Watch fan! It's so cool seeing the plushies you have from the fandom. Knowing I'm not alone in loving those silly lil creatures makes my day. :D
This is the first video of yours that I have watched, and I gotta say, I'm surprised I haven't found your channel sooner! There's clearly a lot of effort put in here! I'm gonna subscribe and wait for any future videos! :D
im pretty sure I had a cat version of the wappydog a few years back. it was in a walmart clearance section and was advertised as having "realistic cat sounds" (it did not). I never owned the ds game, but I think the wappy cat is still in my house, although it doesn't work anymore
I actually own personal training walking, and personal training cooking (and quit smoking, was trying to get my mom to quit). -- But Personal Training Cooking was amazing (the music is amazing), and I would kill for a switch port over, or a dump- it teaches so many amazing basics and advance techiqunes. It had real life video-examples of techniques, as well as 3-D animated versions for people who needed diffrent types of examples, and it had a grocery list mode so you could bring in your DS to the store and make it easier to get everything you needed for cooking. My parents were very Laissez-Faire, so this was really essential for me in Learning 2 Adult on my Own. They made an updated verson for Cooking as 'America's Test Kitchen' which was the base game plus a few updated recipies and extra tutorials, which was nicer for newer people in the series. Personal Training Walking was cool, I was running that at the same time as I was playing the gold/silver with the poke-walker to double up on the gamification of walking. The family head to head feature was cool, you could have everyone submit their data at the end of the day and show off who was the top walker for the day and week. Adding a competitive vibe for walking.
the WarioWare D.I.Y. sound effects greatly enhanced my viewing experience also the de Blob 2 music in the intro, those games' soundtracks are absolutely killer
Ive been learning Japanese for a few years now, and with Electric Plankton, the 'u's arent pronounced as harshly, so it sounds pretty much the same as the english name, but with the 'l's having more of a sound between an l and an r. Hope that helps!

oooohohoh i'm excited to get into this! i got an R4 card for my ds when i was in high school and absolutely surrounded myself in the weirdest games i could find (in between repeat playthroughs of ouendan and tokimemo girls side ofc)
the DS holds such a special place in my heart, i feel like it came out at a really good time. all the experimentation with the new format made for some really unique experiences
The multiple gags and multimedia with Mel makes my brain so happy‼️ It feels like I’m watching a network show lol
Each of Preston's eyebrows should be paid as separate actors for all the expression they offer
(also i notice she likes aimkid and onlysmallbites hell ye)
yayy xiu xiu
@atlev What's your favourite albums? Mine are A Promise, Fabulous Muscles, The Air Force, and Always.
Really fun video I loved it!
Jokes aside: the actual reasons why styluses for children are huge and bulky are kind of simple:
Firstly, young children lack a lot of fine motor skills, making picking up the thinner styluses accurately to be kind of difficult for them, so most tools for children are thick, wide, and easy to grasp
Secondly, but probably not the biggest reason, but thicker styluses are probably harder to swallow and risk asphyxiation with.
Is it only me or her humor is really influenced by Scott the Woz???? I love it!
I love your sense of humor and the cute little animations
also!
The puppet you better becomes a regular character in you vids xddd i love it
5:10 ah the new comically large telephone, lockheed martin’s finest aerospace product.
First time seeing this channel, this is great! Love the animation in the beginning, and your puppet is so cute!
Presten is a really good on screen actor. He's really expressive and quite funny.

This really gives me that "I've got to return some videotapes" vibe to it.
I found this channel recently and i have to say it is now one of my new favorites. I love your humor. Thank you for making these
I'm surprised to hear you're afraid of Silly Bandz since you're also apparently such a huge fan of sounding. Similar to themed mac and cheese, the shapes really add a lot of texture to the experience.
squishy tanks seems like an alternate universe spinoff of a popular show
This is my first video from you that i've watched and I laughed out loud in less than 3 minutes. totally lost it the 'f*ggot' tablet askdghskgd LMAOOO
thank you for the fine art
i love everything about your editing, art style, the puppet; you're really creative and funny : ) subscribed
I wanna mainly comment this for one thing. But before I say so, I absolutely love your videos Mel.
42:03 I have this game!
I got it when I was a little kid. I really wanted a dog so I figured a vitual robot dog was next best thing
the WarioWare D.I.Y. sound effects greatly enhanced my viewing experience
also the de Blob 2 music in the intro, those games' soundtracks are absolutely killer
Wait was that the Time Hollow theme playing when the phone rang at 5:06?
it's my irl ringtone, had to include it
Oooh, nice pick
Ive been learning Japanese for a few years now, and with Electric Plankton, the 'u's arent pronounced as harshly, so it sounds pretty much the same as the english name, but with the 'l's having more of a sound between an l and an r. Hope that helps!
I just discovered your channeled and honestly I love the vibes.
Wow you unlocked a memory hidden in my brain when you mentioned electroplankton, I had it on my R4 back then. Really liked it.
29:02 You don't know how uncomfortable this made me feel. This is scarier than any sort of horror or terror ever made.
that ”erekutoropurankuton” thing is just the direct romanization of the katakana for electroplankton, エレクトロプランクトン
dont worry melody there just isnt a specific "L" sound in japanese so the pronunciation is an R, it is not a rude reference xD
