Jonathan had a lot to say about the weapons of Fallout London, so there will be a part 2 for next Saturday. And be sure to leave your questions below for future Q&A sessions!
Question for the team: Are gas sealed revolvers a good idea? - Thinking a lil about the Silenced Nagant, if it was so good, why weren't more revolvers silenced? Guessing it was an engineering issue for the time and how pistols quickly evolved to become semi automatic firearms with mags and clips. Currently, with US concealed carry rules would there be any virtue in having a gas sealed 32acp thinigie in your pocket, or would you just shoot yourself in the gentlemanly parts coz the safeties aren't up to much?
@@watcherofclassics Tbh it looks exactly like as if factory just grabbed museum collection and decide to copy any design that works. I mean, they couldn't afford a full blown design bureau with only survivors at first.

Funny enough the idea of having radiation on a firearm fits Fallout like a glove. Reminds me when I was in reserved military we had radiated beacons which were probably working in their box for the past 30 something years... So yeah radiated items to illuminate things still are used to this day.
The Fallout London devs should add a rare weapon vender based on (and voiced by) Jonathan Ferguson, the keeper of Firearms & Artillery at the Royal Armories museum in the UK.
But he and Irregular Dave, his Supermutant Assistant, engage in a violent and sustained attack if any of your weapons have been festooned with nonsense. 😂
@MaxwellAerialPhotography thinking about it, that'd actually be a pretty cool quest if you could rebuild a firearms museum in the process of recovering rare and interesting weapons.
I felt that the reason they named the rifle just a "service rifle" was a nod to New Vegas where the standard service rifle was also just called "service rifle". Especially since they took clear inspiration from other parts of New Vegas, like adding back in the ammo loading workbench.
And we have to take account the years between the war and when the game takes place. Post-apocalyptic survivor doesn't care what model it is, "it was a service rifle" is the most that he will know of it and it's good enough. There is no comparing between models III and model IV on the campfire, nobody cares. It's a rifle.
Handling a radioactive Welrod sight might be the most fitting way to do a Fallout gun comparison video. ^^ ("The Welrod's clandestine use meant that use at night was extremely likely and as such had its front and rear sights painted with luminous radioactive paint which enabled the pistol to be aimed in low light." -historicalfirearms)

I feel like it should be mentioned, for those of us not familiar with London, that FO4:London starts after the prologue in Greenwich in the vicinity of the Royal Observatory, south of the Thames. The Royal Small Arms Factory (Now found as the RSA Interpretation Centre apparently) is quite far north of that about 20 miles (30km) away.

More WW2 weapons featured in the London mod than actual bethesda lol
You really shouldn't expect WWII weapons to be relevant by the year 2237 anyway.
@@Edax_Royeaux Why? By 2077 we would have spent the past 120 years advancing at a snail's pace, then the war happened and for the next centuries that dropped to no pace at all leaving the world looking like time stopped in 1955. North America can be "stuck" in the 1950's but Europe can't?
@@krashd As Jonathan Ferguson mentions in previous Fallout 4 videos, any WWII weapon would have it's metal irreparably rusted away and wood rotted away if left exposed or used over those centuries.
Jonathan is so great! I’d love to see a portion where he shows an option or two of a gun a game could have included to be accurate.
Me: “they NAILED it”
Jonathan: “the barrel is questionable”
Me: “THE BARREL IS QUESTIONABLE”
Thanks for reference to Coppergate helmet. I had to look it up, thanks for increasing my knowledge.
You know a mod is amazing when everyone covers it. Awesome video as always!
MOH Rising Sun featured a Welrod during the Singapore Sling mission 5:49
This is SICK! Ever since I loaded up FO:LON I was hoping we’d see Johnathan talking about it’s guns.
This guy going really deep. Would not have expected fallout london to go so deep, quite impressed how well they held up.
Definitely looking forward to part two, since Jonathan's going to be brilliantly amusing over the EM2 :3
I knew there was an EM-2 in there so the moment I realised it wasn't in this episode, I knew there had to be a follow up episode at some point. Looking forward to it.
As for the Q&A, can I ask a question not directly related to videogames? There's a question I've been dying to know the answer to and Johnathan seems like the definitive person to answer it.
Jonathan Ferguson is such a delight to watch.
would love to see an EDF 6 episode. feel like he would get a kick out of the weird weapons like the new drones
This bring up an excellent bit of story telling. In the event of a world ending transaction the museum would be raided for any weapons that still worked thus introducing firearms back into London
Very fun episode. Definitely looking forward to part 2!
yayyyy one more part :D, I visited the royal armories several months ago because of these videos got me super interested in firearms, I even got my picture taken with the 1916 federov russian (assualt?) rifle
awesome as always, can't wait to watch this ep but I gotta watch it tomorrow. Hopping in early tho to say you really gotta show Johnathan the firearms of the Killzone series of games! Absolutely amazing weapons and tech design and I think he'd have a field day with it!
Yesterday while in the shower I was watching the battlefield 1 reaction series, and thought it would be great to have Jonathan reacting to fallout London's arsenal... 12 hours later, here it is. ❤
The day Fallout London launched I dropped a comment in their Discord server saying how much I was looking forward to Jonathan Ferguson, a weapons expert and Keeper of Firearms & Artillery at the Royal Armouries reviewing the games weapons. Looking forward to part 2.
What I love about this, is that it is a mod. So there is a decent chance that they will take these things into account and change them for upcoming patches.
You know, after the Fallout london reactions, next you should do Squad or Squad 44 (Post-scriptum)
Thanks for the shout-out to the Yorkshire Museum. I grew up in York and spent much of my free time at the Museum, and I've always found it seriously underrated. It was where I took my first girlfriend on our first date.
The unique welrod being gold and called Scaramanga is a 10/10 idea. Best movie Bond villain, though I wish he was across from Connery not Moore
I really hope to see Jonathan Ferguson, Keeper of Firearms & Artillery at the Royal Armouries in the UK, I would love to see him break down and analyze the guns of Generation Zero, it has some great guns and I like the way they look, and function.
Also the resistance trilogy
Jonathan S. Ferguson, you are such a gem of a human being! A long time ago, you, Dave, the expert team, and the folks from GameSpot started this series, and oh lord, what an enrichment it has been for me and everyone else who watches and enjoys this amazing project.
I want to express my appreciation and thank you for this wonderful opportunity to learn more about the mechanics and history behind these fascinating tools. Thanks for all the well-founded information, humor, and satisfaction.
You did great! See you in the next episode ❤️
I was hoping this video was coming! Excellent
i love jonathans development towards this series
For the QaA, wondering how Jonathan got into his line of work as firearms are fairly niche here in the uk. Seems like a super interesting job.
I love the quick shot of space marine 2 as you ask us for suggestions... Totally approve 😂
Blimey, that was fast Dave. The mod's only been out three weeks.
very nice video, always fun to learn from a passionate person.
I really appreciate that from what I could see in the video, the tape on the service rifle does nothing, absolutely no change in the stats.
I eagerly anticipate the “cutlery expert reacts” video.
It's here! It's here! The video's here! Been waiting for this since the mod released!!! Thankyou!
There's a corner shop in the village down the road from my village called "Desco". Stone. Cold. Genius.
Other nod to the sten from the zap rifle is the stock being made from bits of bent pipe
Amazing as always. Couldn't wait for next week!
