Many players are experiencing input lag on Black Ops 2 on Xbox One. I have done some testing and found that yes there is input lag, however there is a much bigger problem with stick sensitivity curves. The thumbsticks don't have the same deadzones or input curves across consoles.

And they said I was crazy
OpTic Pamaj lol
OpTic Pamaj how you only have 1 like? Wtf?!
OpTic Pamaj I thought about your claim when I saw this. I figured Driftor would eventually present evidence. This has occurred more than once.
Hi Seven now, but the optimal time to share a comment that would be seen by a significant number of users has long expired in this particular video.
Crazy for what."?
Brings me back watching the intro. I still remember watching in-depth 4 years ago.
Kevin D Good old days.
me too
oh man it's been a while since that bo2 in depth intro was used.
tsubasaplayer16 ikr
it felt so good to hear it
Oh Yeah it has and it is soooo classic
tsubasaplayer16 That in depth intro was marvellous.
Best one yet
That old school intro and thumbnail made me smile pretty hard.
thumnail*
Maaraj Mahmood No, thumbnail.
3:20
me too
Geometry Dash Finicheti I did the exact same thing. 😀
That intro gave me so much nostalgia
BO2 in depth? Wasn't expecting that...
Trey2Da me too
Seeing the thumbnail & the intro of this video turned me on👌😩 #theolddays
awww the feels, they're coming back
If you’re coming from Jevs vid you want to go to your accessories and change your right stick curve to Instant. About 7:00

THE THROWBACK
THE OG BO2 INTRO
I tried the instant setting for the Elite Controller, it works very well. I left it on instant for IW and immediately felt better on there as well. thanks for the tip!
BO2 in-depth was the reason I subscribed. Great to see it come back!
Owen Judge don't expect more in depth from a 5 year old game, just saying
Owen Judge I recall the older MW3 days.
the goat drift0r helping us out in 2023
Damn bringing back the BO2 intro 10/10 IGN
Nitrouscloth 1/10 , to much Feeling ~ IGN
I would hope treyarch would go back and fix some things for us. I feel the difference as well and it just doesn't have the same black ops 2 feel. And I sure as hell will not buy a $160 controller to resolve an issue like this. Pray to vondy everyone 🙏🏻
Snipe s but it's not treyarch it's Microsofts fault. The delay is noticeable on all backwards compatible games
Kekoa US ugh. Never expected that from them tbh. Makes me want to uninstall it from my console all together.
Snipe s it's expected it's like playing from the elgato screen or playing from the obs
Kekoa US honestly maybe it's just an adjustment that the community needs to make so they can enjoy the game like normal. Unless you're one of the sweaties who own the elite.
Snipe s I own a scuf for both PS4 and Xbox
That old intro !! Nostalgia feeling :D
The best way to reduce input lag playing cod mw2 2009 on the Xbox one that I found is to set your resolution to 720p and pick 60hz not 120hz, make sure your controller software is up date, this worked for me it feels very close to how it did on Xbox 360 14 years ago!
Where is the 60hz option? Are you talking about the xbox one settings? Im on an xbox one. All I can do is change the resolution, not the fps
@@Statvar it should be the next option right below resolution!
@@Statvarif you can’t change the hz then your screen is already 60hz
And imagine that this was on ps4 streaming service. The input lag would be.... I dont even wanna think about how bad it would be
Joshua W it is
we have psnow with let's us play any PS3 game through Wi-Fi not just certain games any game
WOLF_GAMING YT "any game" can It play cod games then? Also, I don't wanna pay $20 monthly for games I already have (well just the good ones or what I like). If I wanna PS3 games I'd just play the games I have on my PS3.
Xbox one on the other hand, I can just put my disk in (something that's on the list) and it'll start playing it like a regular normal 360. My bo2 is all fucked up, couldn't play it on my 360, but it worked on my Xbox one somehow. Best part is I don't have to pay for a game that I already had, or I don't have to pay for a subscription for a list of games where I have half of them and the other half I don't care about.
Dirty Dan everyone has their side I like both because I have ver good wifi
I have both and so far the signal is wayyyy better for PS4. Idk why that is
i played with ps3 controller like wtf the joysticks sucks even ps2 was better but thank god they fixed some issues in ps4 still xbox controller is better it doesn't hurt your fingers
Didn't read all the comments so maybe someone already mentioned this. Xbone backwards compatibility forces vsync in all games, even if they didn't use vsync on 360. So yea there will always be slightly more input latency on xbone backwards compat.
Good ol bo2 in depth
Ur so damn clutch driftor.
ahmad abdelhadi You would be here Cyborg Noodle
I kind of missed that intro
It have input lag because Xbox One's backwards compatibility gives VSync to games where the VSync was off or adaptive, like GTA IV, so you don't get tearing but yo get a little bit of input lag, but is not like Rise Of The Tomb Raider, Shadow Of The Tomb Raider or even GTA V on Xbox one which are a nightmare thanks to input lag. VSync gives a little bit of input lag even at 60 FPS games, Xbox 360 doesn't have input lag because the VSync is adaptive, which cause tearing when the framedrops, compared to the triple buffer VSync of the Xbox one version
I've had this same input lag in the original Black Ops and whenever i mention it, people act like im crazy. The lag feels as though im streaming the game, rather that playing it locally. If you get used to it, its fine, but it feels like every backward compatible game has it.
oh my god, good old intro
I don't own an Xbox one but it's still very interesting too learn all this. It was also really cool too see that intro again after all these years
Drift0r- "I personally do not own an Xbox 360 controller" -10:03
Me- 🤔.... then... how... nevermind
matt pitcher lol
Brisingr73 he was testing it with a friend
i think he meant xbox elite controller, which, from the comment you left, i`d imagine you already figured out ;)
The Dunk Master makes sense
matt pitcher that's what I said
nostalgia intro.
its so odd hearing about all of this input delay stuff, im not getting any on Xbox One on Bo2, or any other BC game, ive played L4D2, Halo Reach, Forza Horizon, Castle Crashers ETC..
Your eyes are deceiving you : (.
I get input delay on ME1, ME2 and ME3.
Probably because you're not a high skill level player, most competitive gamers notice subtle differences.
I'm on PS4, but i'm sure if I played BOII on Xbox One i'd notice it. I have 32 in-game days played on BOII. As someone else said, high skilled players will 100% notice it (Or people with 20+ in-game days played)
What?
Any body can notice it - You don't have to be 'High Skill Level' lol.
You've just got to adjust, I've been playing it & Noticed it horribly at first. But I soon just changed up my play style a tad and bam - Back to normal.
Adaptation is the key to success.
YES THE OG INTRO LOVE U DRIFT
0:00 the memories man I hope you keep on making BO2 in depths
for the people playing on a tv screen it can also be a problem with your tv! lots of tv's have 'game mode' so put it on that
yeah but thats not the same thing it would be a delay all the time and it makes call of duty unplayable. Some tvs need to have a specific hdmi port used as well for the game mode option. Plus if it was that it would be on every game as well.
6Johny TV settings...
That has to do with display lag, not input lag. Bigger TV's can experience this problem. My friends and I once tried to play bo2 on one of my friend's gigantic TV. There's so much to register on screen, it just ended up display lagging. If you were to press a button you'd see the action on screen significantly later, like half a second. It was huge.
Squiddi true, but its exactly the same problem
GoatBro U cant play FPS on tv, once u have played it on a monitor there is no going back
the effort in this video and the tests were awesome! thansk so much for all you effort driftor, great content and quality as always
This entire comment section is literally just talking about the intro. ._.
ikr? im trying to see what people think about this topic, but theres nothing but people that cant get over a stupid dam intro
people acting like its been dacades since they last saw it lmao
the delay on xbox 1 s playing old cods is unbearable like completely unplayable they need to do something
In other news, the sales for the Xbox Elite Controller doubled in late April. :)
ReboyGTR How much was the elite on sale?
Oh boy that intro
man I remember when I'd watch your original bo2 in depth videos. crazy to see this on my time line again
Omg, that intro was straight nostalgia. Can't even explain that heart warming feeling it triggered when hearing it :] You're awesome Drift0r :D
watched every in depth when I was in eighth grade, now im 2 months from graduating. Crazy nostalgic
black ops 2 in depth in 2017, awesome. brings back so many feels tho, both from the game and watching your channel
Dude I started playing BO2 like in December and I watched ALL your BO2 in depth videos lol
Never thought I would have seen a new BO2 in depth episode again!
That nostalgia with the intro!
the nostalgia tho
nice touch bringing back teh bo2 in depth intro :p
that old intro brought a smile to my face
That moment when you spent all last night watching old BO2 in depth videos, and now you hear that old-school intro in a new video in 2017.
Classic intro. Nice.
3 years after the last black ops 2 in depth... damn
The analysis and detail is why im subbed and why Drift0r is a great youtuber.
Nice video. Messing with this today on my Vizio 4k 55inch tv and Ive noticed that reducing the resolution to 720p on the XB1 S, and allowing the tv to upscale the picture gives me much better response time with my controller especially the thumb sticks. The picture still looks great btw.
Great freakin' video, Drift0r. Something like this probably took way more effort than those who don't video edit and test can understand.
Man Driftor loves making In-Depth on Bo2 !!
I seriously don't know what people are whining about, I use a standard Xbox one controller and have no input lag whatsoever...
Xbox One has forced triple buffer vsync on all 360 titles. That can explain the extra input latency.
xWOC Ew, that sounds disgusting. I know it's a console and needs to look cinematic, but that's so cringy
ElectricPyroclast do you even know what vysnc is? It's nothing to do with the look of the game, it forces the Xbone to wait for the next refresh to draw a frame, which adds latency.
Alden Sewell Vsync has EVERYTHING to do with the look of the game, bro, otherwise nobody would use it. A stable frame rate with no screen tearing to produce a smoother look is the purpose of Vsync, but the added input lag makes it an unpopular choice among PC gamers. Since I play games at triple digit frame rates, the stuttering and screen tearing effects are very minor, so that makes Vsync even more unnecessary for me personally.
I really wish we had an option to remove that. For some games I don't mind it, but I'd prefer tearing over lag. Some games already used v-sync, so adding a few buffers might be the reason there's more lag rather than any emulation issues.
EternalDahaka I'll be completely honest, the Xbone should run with a simple frame rate cap on all 60fps games. There are such programs on PC that do that without Vsync, and there are no real downsides
I remembered watching the Black ops 2 in depth videos, trying the load outs and then tweaking them to my game style. Once i figured out my idealized classes I then remember watching the other in depth videos to try to challenge myself once in a while (usually i just stuck to my usual class though). It would be nice to give a few more in depth videos on Black ops 2 comparing weapons then & now before patches & then now (post patches)
I don't even have an Xbox one but I saw bo2 in depth and then clicked on it
This game is just so incredible, I can play the thing all day and love it. Maps, guns and variety of play styles are the best.
guess who's back back again tell a friend
I did an input lag test on Track Mania Turbo on Xbox One...
It came back and my results were "Nearly Perfect" I've had absolutely no issues on BO2, at least, non that I've noticed.
The feelings of watching this ( even though im a ps3 player ) you've taught me somes stuff like use dexterity over tac mask use concussion grens and try out new weapons like the msmc ksg and all that...
The game also lacks some kind on MSAA on Xbox One ! You can clearly see there is a lot more aliasing, is this fixable ? Thank you for the tip Drift0r, lucky enough to have an Elite controller
it actually has the same amount of aliasing.
Really ? Have you played both versions in a short timespan ? I could've sworn there's a lot more on Xbox One
i wouldn't worry too much guys, if you all remember this same issue came with bo1 when it first went backwards compat, now that it's really out there, it'll be fixed fairly soon
Thanks Driftor the stick solution helped a lot!
Good video driftor! By the way you spelled thumb stick wrong when you compared the linear and non linear sticks
Hopefully someone techy can explain this and maybe fix this
There's no fix; the emulator that allows for people to play the game causes the lag. The only fix is to go back to the 360
Thanks man. Never would have thought of this
YES! This intro started it all for me!
I just bought an elite controller and it's unreal and run it on agressive is top notch I kinda got soooo lucky I just bought an elite controller. my aim got so much better when I got it as well and I've noticed this especially drag scoping with a sniper the most noticeable
Codyc12345 be careful with it because I've been through two of them already. I'm usually very careful with my controllers and i was extra careful with my elite. The same thing happened with both of them. The sticks popped out and it turns slow one way and fast the other
This was really cool and I actually haven't played xbox one bo2 yet so his was a good heads up and it saves a bit of rage, cheers driftor
you know shits about to get down when you see the old bo2 in depth intro
Nostalgia baby !!
Omg that old intro...so much nostalgia
Jesus Christ that intro game me goosebumps good tims
how do people say bo2 on Xboner looks the same.
the shading on the Xboner is way better.
Crazy how I want you to make more today.
99,99% of the comments are about the intro.
0,01% of the comments are about the 'video'
That black ops 2 intro man. I've missed it
Found a fix for me. I downscale my 4K TV to 720P in the settings for Xbox One X, and it's noticeably more responsive than when I had it set at 4K
Oh how I have missed that black ops 2 in depth intro
Good times, good times
That moment when you think it's an old BO2 video that popped up in recommended but it was posted today
Love how you used the OG intro
SO MANY MEMORIES!
I can feel the nostalgic memories coming back to me from that intro.
you know, all of my gun usage decisions are based off of stats posted by drift0r back from bo2 in depth days. i remember all the discrete penalties each attachment has and all the benefits and damage profile of the guns at range. good times.
So i enjoyed this video cuz it was different and very confusing. I do have a XB1 but I'm not gonna do all this to change the input lag. I've had more probs lagging or someone else lagging and messing stuff up. Still nice video driftor. 😄😌☺️
For people who ran sens 4 I ran sens 5 and felt like I was performing much better and it felt smoother.
Dear god the nostalgia hit hard...
The nostalgia
its the Xbox one controllers. the next gen controller isn't meant to be used on the last gen system. I also have the elite controller but I don't mess around with the input curves because they mess up my aim due to the fact that I'm used to the default curve
YES!!!! OLD BO2 IN DEPTH INTRO!
Black ops 2 in depth remastered is absolutely neccessary
This plagues the BF3 back-compat game as well. I'm pretty sure it's them introducing V-Sync which can cause quite a bit of input lag. I wish we could disable it...
It feels like the deadzones are much bigger as well
Has it really been 5 years? Holy moly.
Good old days of Black Ops 2 in depth
Wow another bo2 in depth noice
Ahhhhhhhh, the nostalgia!
This got discovered years ago. Xbox One has slight input lag from when you pull a trigger and when it actually happens. That's why its hard to play play both ps4 and Xbox one, since ps4 doesn't have it.
