The MK 48 is the heavy hitter among Black Ops 2's LMGs. This beast won't take no for an answer, unless the question is 'Can you run fast?' It may cause you to move slow, and might reload very slowly, and shoot slowly, and aim down sights slowly, but the Mk48 more than compensates with it's damage and range.
love this weapon. i pretty much use the same perks but i have grip, red dot sight and quick draw. its perfect for going around the edges of the map picking people off, especially satisfying killing quick scopers with it
how is 600 rpm and 3 shot kill a slow ttk? damn, ttk was fast in bo2 and so fast in old cods.
Epic quad feed at the beginning. XD
I agree with the rapid fire silencer combo for this. It takes me back to MW3 and doing that with the MK46. I had an absolute blast with that set up and can see how enjoyable that can be in BO2
7:35. Says it id a very long range weapon, meanwhile hipfires a poor guy to death and point blank range xD
+Josiah Bennett Ironic
When you don't have a quickdraw grip sometimes you get desperate for that kill. I do it at least once a day
your "for fun" class is exactly what i use when im messing around with it. now and again without the suppressor though. gotta say the hammering sound of that gun is so satisfying.
it's also the best sounding lmg. especially with rapid fire.
2.90 K/D with over 40k kills, only by using this weapon with target finder and fmj with pump gun as my secondary. A claymore to warn me the first time, the second time I have got the guardian 80% of the times, and I just one-shot anyone who enters the guardian's cone with the pumpgun. ~10 ppl curse my home and family every game. Still, the most fun experience I ever got when playing video game, I defenitely recommend to try it out.
I feel like 40k is an exaggeration.
Lol Ive been playing bo2 since 2012 and I only have about 400k kills lmao...unless you really love that gun that seems a bit much
If this is the only weapon you use how is your KD that low?
+T-Bag Dildosnake low ????
Another cool MK 48 class to try is the variable zoom + suppressor. Maybe wildcard the dual band in there if you want.
An LMG with a sniper's range. Even when using range detriments like the Suppressor and/or Rapid Fire, your range is still very good. It could quite possibly be the best suppressed weapon in the game.
Did the math, 88m x 0.7 (because -30% range) and you get 61.6m, That's still great range suppressed
I've been using this gun for a long time now, and it is easily my favorite weapon, so I'd like to give some advice to anyone using it. First off, I've used every attachment for extended periods of time, and my favorite setup is Target Finder, Silencer, Adjustable Stock. The stock is surprisingly useful, whenever I run into somebody with an SMG I ADS and strafe. The silencer is a personal preference, you can swap that out. I've used all sights, target finder is best at both close and long range.
I love this gun almost as much as Black Ops' M60 which was just Rambo style.
what does rambo mean?
@@bobdarrick2628With an M60 machine gun, specifically
@@FredKirk-vi2rp it means using an M60? Is that what you’re saying?
I kinda ran a "rusher LMG" class kind of like the one showed at the end here, with LSAT equipped with Stock, Laser sight and Target finder that had the same perks as here... I know exactly what he's talking about, with it being a fun class and all, and I highly recommend it to you guys, so that's just some food for thought there.
this was my 2nd gold weapon :D bcuz I used when I was 0 prestige and realized I had lot of headshots with it and then went for it... DSR was my first :)
U still play rs?
you might hate rs3, but I love it, though i liked more pre-eoc rs :D
DeNzEl MoLiNa go dsr! Boo LMGs-too OP
MK 48: Targetfinder and Quickdraw
BR23: Extended Mags
Equipment: Frag and Shockcharge
Perks: Flat Jacket, Fast Hands and Dexterity
Scorestreaks: UAV, Sentry Gun and AGR
"gonna get the most effect from said wall banging." 3:18
Just sounds funny
The ADS time on LMG's got changed from .48 to .42 iirc, but I could be wrong here.
The HAMR, on the other hand, fires its first 7 shots at ~900 rpm before suddenly dropping to ~600 rpm (same rof as MK 48). It's basically an LMG version of the AN-94, but firing 7 shots at a high rof instead of 2 and not reducing recoil during the initial burst.

Epic J QUAAAD FEEEEEED
+Epic J SplAaaaAAAaAAsh
i like using it as an all around weapon, but with no secondary.
OFFENSE (rushing) try:
Perks: Lightweight, Toughness and Dexterity
Attachments: Rapid Fire, EOTech, and Foregrip
Equipment: C4 and a Shock Charge or 2x Shock Charges
DEFENSE
Attachments: Foregrip and Variable Zoom, and either Rapid Fire or FMJ
Perks: "The Juggernaut"
Equipment: Bouncing Betty and a Shock Charge
Why am I watching this in 2016
Same.
im not in 2016
Because this gun is god tier. Just like you, we absolutely love this gun. Well worth a re-watch.
Why am I watching this in 2017
Why am i here in 2018
7:38 oooooooooh look at that fancy editing
Such a noobie gun though. Mostly used with target finder in dark corners. I have used it with overkill and an lsat meaning i have 200 bullets before i have to reload. Lots of fun on nuketown or just to generally annoy people.
I usually use Target Finder and FMJ as well until I unlock Rapid Fire and Dual band and then I use FMJ, Rapid Fire, and Dual Band. One of my best classes!
Being an avid LMG user, I can tell you that the two best LMG's for running and gunning are:
-MK48 w/ Rapid Fire
-QBB LSW w/anything (Suppressor is favored)
The MK48 w/ Rapid Fire boasts a massive 3-hit kill range while maintaining a 720 rpm fire rate (same as MSMC, but a ridiculously larger 3-hit kill range).
The QBB LSW has a fire rate of 900 rpm and dominates at rushing because of it (also has low-medium recoil that is quite manigable). I use it with a Suppressor.
Hope this helps!
I really enjoy suppressor and stock on this gun because the sights are pretty ok, and stock is really handy to round corners and spray people down. It allows you to be fairly mobile, but able to be ready for most situations anyway.
L86 LSW with Grip, Stopping Power, and Steady Aim was my favorite setup in that game. Nothing quite like downing everyone in 2 hits at 750 rpm from any range with only moderate recoil, then reloading an 100-round magazine in only 3 seconds (reload canceling ftw!).
i love this gun and the hamr, i got diamond camo with the lmg's first and when i used the mk48 i found the best role is anti-sniper/anti-camper, i used lightweight to offset movement penalty, flak jacket, toughness to keep that sight on target under fire and engineer to find those campers. i used FMJ and silencer to punch through cover to kill campers and snipers while staying hidden and remaining mobile. pick your poison for grenade and you have a moderate rushing juggernaut class
With most LMG's I run the adjustable stock with a silencer. I'll throw on primary gunfighter and put a variable zoom on it as well. The stock for side-stepping, the silencer to keep me quieter because I like to spam. The variable zoom does increase my recoil, but in hardcore it doesn't really matter. It ends up feeling like an assault rifle with a huge clip and better wall penetration.
i have 2 solid classes for this LMG: one for running and gunning and another for camping. camping: hybrid optic, fore grip, and stock with x2 bouncing betties and cold blooded dexterity. Run and gun: rapid fire, fore grip, and suppressor with 1 c4 and dexterity. i have diamond for it and exactly 1167 kills with it. (including mastery) for it. you guys should try it out!
I use:
Mk48 with quickdraw, eotek (3th sight), and fmj.
Perk1: flakjacket.
Perk2: toughnes.
Perk3: tactical mask.
A normal granate and trophy system. This is beast loadout and hard to get killed because the trophy just makes lethals useless and if i run into shock charge i just laydown and let them come to me :)
I run Primary Gunfighter, Quickness, Stock and Target finder. Hardline and Flak Jacket. Toughness and Tactical Mask. With this loadout you'll be able to a juggernaut, but still be able to get your streaks earlier.
Target Finder and Silencer is a beast combo for all LMGs. I love "rushing" with this setup (i.e. getting behind the enemy and then posting up.
I learnt about how good this gun is from xcal's videos and use a similar class to his. I run it with quickdraw handle and suppressor, and the perks Flak Jacket, Toughness, Dexterity and Marathon, with a C4 lethal and Tac-45 secondary. One of the most fun classes I've used in this game.
LMG only expert btw and I basically only use those perks/attachments. Although I don't like running shock charge as it kills whatever ability you might have to hear people coming. I prefer running two bouncing betties over that. Recently I've switched to running the kap40 as a secondary. Never used to use secondaries, but it's really quite handy. Lets you retake your buildings efficiently (when you can't just spray it down) and running fast with it is certainly a good move.
The MK 48 is such an awesome weapon... I use it with variable zoom and quickdraw and prefer it to every other weapon in the game. As long as I stay on the lower zoom it has a tiny amount of recoil and has a very high damage. Started using it yesterday, got it to bloodshot and max level already, and it gave me my 2 highest S&D killcounts in BOII: 17/2 and 15/1.
That's not really the problem. Despite that, the Target Finder is still the sight with the most open view on the target. In a way, it still works very well, and most people forgo Cold Blooded for more useful perks within the tier like Fast Hands and Scavenger. You could pair up tier 2 perks, but it would be at the cost of some equipment or attachments and maybe even the perks in the other tiers. As diverse as the pick 10 system is, you still can't defend against everything.
Claymores can't be dodged like bouncing betties with a crouch or anything like that, but claymores are dependent upon angle and don't work unless the player walks past a certain side of them. I'm not a fan of either, but there are pluses and minuses to both. I think betties are more common/suggested mainly because it is a lower level unlock
I love using LMGs. But I have it with a more engineer/support style class set up to deal with equipment and scorestreaks. I tend to run it with the following setup.
MK 48 or LSAT + FMJ
FHJ-18 AA
Blind Eye & Engineer
Tactician with 2 Black Hats & 2 EMP Grenades.
UAV, Counter-UAV & Care Package
This allows me to still attain respectable kills in game while also racking up points from destroying equiment and scorestreaks and getting assists from my own equipment and scorestreaks.
The Privateer
It is possible to rush with the LMGs especially in Domination. You slap on rapid fire, lightweight, dexterity, quickdraw, and find a good flow to hold the enemy team down. You can't aggressively rush the enemy, but methodically moving cover to cover it is very possible. Think of yourself as a mobile sentry gun. Have the LMG in front of the B flag to actively suppress and cut off the enemy team from capturing/defending the B flag and your team can definitely get the win.
I did an LMG only prestige recently. Favourite LMG by far and got some nice wallbangs with this. One following a guy running upstairs in hijacked which was also game winning kill haha
The thing I like about this guide is that he is not afraid to say camp. Camping is apart of the game and it is a playstyle. Its also easy to kill a camper cause you know where he is already which doesnt make it as unpredictable as a run and gun class.
qbb w/rapid fire + silencer + laser is pretty fun, hamr is even better since the recoil drops off after sustained fire you have a better shot at stuff further away on a gun that would normally have crippled long range performance
I love running quickdraw and stock on this weapon. Combine those with lightweight and we have a very good mid to long range weapon. Then bust out the TAC-45 to keep those SMG guys away.
TRUE DAT. And BTW the AK-47 was one of the prototypes of the Автомат Калашникова (prototypes were: AK-46(first of them working nicely), AK-47 (complete redesign) and AK-48 (AK-47 was just a bit too bad). The AK was adopted in 1949 along with the folding stock version, the AKS. Source: grandfather born in '46, when he went to the Polish military the AK was the service rifle.
I believe he said that on the LMGs the penalty is more like 55%. So a range of 90 meters (to round it up a tad) for a 3 shot kill becomes more like 42 meters. At that point it has assault rifle range (maybe a bit better) but shoots as fast as a slower SMG and still 3-shots when said SMGs would be needing 5 to kill. It also pwns walls.
This was the most pleasant LMG to use on the road to gold camo. I liked using stock, quickdraw, target finder for attachments though :)
primary gun fighter, perk one greed, target finder, adjustable stock, FMJ, lightweight, flack jacket, toughness, lightweight. is way better try it if im wrong feel free to send me hate mail. Note don't run and gun sight walk corners i have over a 2.70kd with this set up so it works.
Driftor, I use this gun for rushing because of the high damage and bullet showering. It sometimes overwhelms the enemy. I use Grip and Stock. It's a beast.
I love the iron sights on the Mk48, the whole game in general I love iron sights, I don't have reflex, ed tech, etc. on any of my automatic weapons.
i really like the thermal sight/ variable zoom on this weapon it works perfectly for me
I love dual band on this gun, most of the time I rush but I use this to defend objectives in headquarters/hardpoint whenever I play those games.
Drift0r, you'v e got to do an episode on sensor grenades! There seems to be a lot of weirdness with how it actually works and I'd really like to see you get into the details of the equipment.
Lightweight is horrible on lmgs though, since the 90% speed doesn't get much of a boost from it. I personally like running the target finder and fmj on the mk48 as well, along with the tact mask, toughness, and flak jacket... however I like to use a wildcard 2, scavenger, 1 claymore, and smaw instead. The claymore is good enough to watch my back, while the smaw lets me deal with air and deeply entrenched targets. Scavenger helps me gain back both.
oh idk about all of cod, but there were so many guns that were "high damage" but were made to be 49 max damage, like the ak, cm901, p99
I actually rushed with this weapon before. I used the adjustable stock and the reflex sight, so it made this weapon pretty decent at close range. Otherwise I use the reflex, grip, and again, the adjustable stock.
One way I can think of nerfing it is just delaying the diamonds by 2 seconds and no light up for Cold Blooded users (they have no diamonds, but the Target Finder still picks them up).
this with dual band/zoom and suppressor, my own full auto sniper
Use it with Rapidfire/Suppressor, Quickdraw and Stock.
Lightweight, Toughness and Dexterity C4 and EMP. Unstoppable at close range (got two nuclear streaks with it in TDM, and im barely above average)
My class: FMJ, target finder, surpressor, same perks but also includes cold blooded,no equipment
drift a great set up with this gun is an assualt shield as the second weapon it gives mobile cover and people never expect you to whip a LMG out when you set the shield down
Rapid fire + Reflex sight + quickdraw/stock = Spray and pray machine!
One thing that wasn't mentioned is how notably awesome this gun is at shooting down Stealth Choppers, Drones, and VTOLs.
I camp depending on what kind of map it is. Most of the time though, I just keep my gun up whenever I hit a corner. A good alternative to predicting the enemy is around the corner is throwing an emp, other than telling you someones there with the reticle, hes tagged for an assist to you until he dies.
I use target finder, suppressor, quickdraw or stock on all LMGs and i got them diamond but now ive reset stats so im going for them again. MK48 is beast
7:36 Damn great editing skills bro!
Don't underestimate this weapon's capacity for suppression fire, or suppression in general. CoD doesn't have any mechanics for it, but you can suppress a choke point for long enough to for your team to flank while you have them distracted. The Mk. 48's slow rate of fire and high damage are perfect for this purpose.
a really good setup of the Mark48 is stock and FMJ with optic of choice lets you shoot thrugh cover like it's nothing and destroy people at long and mid range
Pretty good class imo. The immense amount of range penalties with the RF+Silencer doesnt matter since it's still a 4hit kill at average ranges. Would defintely use.
some ppl like the target finder for a tactical advatage like setting off a smoke and not being impaired by the smoke as much as the other side is
i play hardcore all the time and my brother and i always used the lsw. i need to show him this... new class set up. mk-48 rapid fire, ex. mag (its slow regardless so it doesnt matter), and target finder/acog with primary gunfighter. as for perks. lightweight, cold blood, and tack mask.
select attachment, press y on the sight when in the "select attachment" menu, it doesn't cost a pick 10 point
The MK48 is still the best though. I was using it all this weekend (started from just about 0 kills with it)...racked up 1000 kills w/ a 3.6 k/d on it
Mind you I slapped on target finder + stock + suppressor, as well as dexterity & flak jacket, which makes it about as OP as it can get.
It is fucking unreal how it mows through an entire team spawning, or wallbang headshots someone through multiple walls.
Head glitching is standing/crouching behind cover so that only your head is appearing but you can still see over it and shoot people, when they have a very tiny target to hit. Target finder exacerbates the advantage of a head glitch and on some maps can be downright stupid.
I was going to say something similar actually. haha. Playing the aggressive camper. Which is basically just aggressively holding down objectives/choke points.
that rapidfire build is actually pretty good. Makes it a 4 hit long range PDW57 with 50 more bullets. Not to mention it seems to be a headshot machine lol.
BEAST weapon this. Hit a Quin Feed on Grind lastnight. FMJ and Rapid Fire turn on from good to OP.
You're*
Actually if I am not rushing, it means I am playing another way. Flanking, supporting, spotting. Things that typically directly push the objective forward. (I've no problem with slaying to keep people away from a flag, but it is far from the only role of playing).
that was such a nice feed at the beggining drift, way to go.
Or use (and not being a lamb):
fmj-grip-hybrid or thermal
flatkacket-toughness-tact. mask + dexterity
Fhj 18 AA
Sensor grenade (throw into building before you enter)
he does them in order of unlocking, assault riffles were reversed because there were many and many people were asking about the AN-94.
He does the guns in the order of class, although sometimes interrupted with stuff like attachments or disprovals. I guess it's QBB next then LSAT
Target finger is nice but relying on it will get you killed. Many run cold blooded. It's really good for LMGs because you'll as a LMG user you'll often find yourself firing at full auto at multiple people at the same time, and target finder helps you keep track of them as you shoot.
This is the gun I've used since Day 1 and it is my favorite.
He meant they're long range and high-damaging and good at close range. I use QBB and MK48 at CQC range (So much fun!)
Drift0r my favourite class for LMGs is:
laser sight and fore grip
flak jacket
toughness
tactical mask
bouncing betty
shock charges
I agree, I like to take an LSAT, put rapid fire, suppressor, and laser on it, and hipfire the crap out of people. Really good for CQB. Try it if you never have, if you dont like it, too bad, if you do, good for you!
The LMG's are really fun to play with, being able to hold down an area. It's also awesome having the ability to just hold down the trigger and mow down the enemy team xD
Secondly, aim down the sights! If you run into somebody, pull the trigger as you look down your sight. I usually get lucky with one shot from the hipfire as I'm aiming, and then the other 1/2 shots are easy. Like I said, if you have the stock, strafe back and forth and they'll have a hard time hitting you. Try to aim for upper chest, the recoil tends to naturally kick me up to a headshot. Thirdly, wallbang. Spray. Shoot at long ranges. My class makes it decent at CQC, but it's still an LMG.
Holding it restricts your arms and puts more weight in front of you, on your back you can lean forward as you run and swing your arms unlike when you were holding it.
Love this weapon - I'm a rusher though so I have to learn to stay back a bit. If you are set up at all from cover you will destroy with this gun.
Nice, keen to see reviews on the other LMG's, especially the... QSW thingy?
laser sight rapid fire and fmj lightweight dexterity and extreme condtioning toughness and then you can run and gun amazing class
Weird because I never thought of this gun (or any LMG) as a camping weapon. I always run and gun with it.
Laser sight + rapid fire is great. (Or if I am using primary gunfighter I also use quickdraw)
This gun is hilarious on hijacked, wall-bang quad feed city. also gets people out of the pool like a charm. Except I run primary gunfighter and stock.
Everything works good on this weapon, its amazing. So underrated
What i like to use with this gun is silencer & fmj plus overkill pdw with millimeter scanner that way if you find a corner camper you'll be able to wall bang him hilariously.
Target finder also enables you to see your targets through smoke.
The MK 48 is an awesome and powerful weapon, but unfortunately the downside is the reload speed. I strongly suggest to stay close to a sentry gun while reloading the MK 48
I use Quickdraw, Stock and and Reflex. With Lightweight, Flak jacket, Extreme conditioning and scavenger, and i run around like i am using a Assault rifle.
tactical mask for the second class and use dexterity. Lmgs take so long to aim down sights that even quickdraw isn't enough. Besides if you're rushing you going to be running around and dexterity will mkae you climb faster and recover after sprinting
I've found that the low RPM actually makes this gun better by strongly reducing the recoil.
