Munchausen's By Proxy in the Media

The entertainment industry loves to make content out of serious illnesses. Factitious Disorder Imposed on Another, or Munchausen's By Proxy as it's better known, is no exception. Shows like Hulu's The Act and HBO's Sharp Objects use the serious mental disorder as a plot device for shock value. These shows and other pieces of media create more misconceptions and increases the stigma surrounding it.
