Man. I would never work if I lived there. I can't believe how few people are on the water. Nice clear water all the time to sight fish. And big fish so much if the time. You're pretty spoiled my friend.
A day by yourself on a smaller river where the fish are slightly out sized, in good condition and co-operative enough to catch a few. I doesn't get any better! Thanks for sharing.
One of your best videos yet Alex!!! All of the fish were stunning and I enjoy your rigging tips throughout the episode and a highlight for me is your music selections that are both embracing and spiritual in this context. I Shazam each melody and add them to my chill playlist. Thanks again....Deano
Another beautiful fly fishing video from you Alex !!!! Been busy so I trying to catch up. I watch a lot of fishing videos using fly and traditional gear and Alex your video's just stand out from all the rest. The landscape views so beautiful . And the fish well your's are consistently bigger than the rest. You are a fantastic angler, cinematographer and filmmaker. Don't ever stop making videos please. I can't thank you enough . I wish to make a donation please let me know how. Thanks again
Hey Steve, thanks heaps for the kind words and I’m stoked you dig the channel so much. You can donate either via ‘super thanks’ on here or by PayPal using Alex@trippinontrout.com Would be hugely appreciated and welcome 🙏
@@TrippinOnTrout yes I saw the super thanks but thought that UA-cam and Google get a cut of the donations . I really don't want them to get too muchh it's a one time donation of a couple hundred I dont esnt yo put my catd on file because hackrtd always get on googlepsy and start charging syufg

on this river I´ve spent maybe most time of my trips on NZ. There are strongest Rainbows on North Island. Every part of fished river open my memories. Only 70 days and we meet them all (I hope..) Fished arms of the river are occupied by nice trout, there is better than before ( covid brings "positives"! for fishing there ;-) )
Alex my brother I haven’t looked too hard to find a mouse video so I don’t know if there is one but man please consider making a mouse video would be absolutely awesome with your filming Chur
Alex, how do you carry an assembled rod in the truck? 🤔 Is that some elaborate rig with 20m of bungee cord? Thanks for taking the time to do another great video. 👍
Man don't know if its your voice but our cat was transfixed when you were explaining about the boat etc at the start. I guess you have a new fan. Again great vid great footage. The drone shot 👌 was that an eel or a big fish you can see circling below you?? Either way great footage.
You make it look so easy, why do all these places have to be such a big secret.. So frustrating..I'm a beginner so If you did tell us the in locations of these places I probably have little chance of catching these big fish anyway.
Hey Alex another great video. Is that a Smith Creek rod holder system you are using. I am looking to set something up. Any comments on whether these systems are worth it?
Since finding your videos while visiting both North and south Island, I've only fly fished in salt water with a 7/8 or even a 10wt for tuna, barra and other big predator fish back in Aus. Q: Would a 4ft be achievable for fishing parts of the South Island in the spring and summer periods, I'm wanting to have fun and enjoy it more then have something that my be overkill in some situations. Or would it not be possible to land any. Any tips would be greatly appreciated Regards Matt.
You would get away with it in certain small streams but i would go at least a 5 weight to cover most situations and have a 6 as a back up. Especially on the bigger rivers or if it’s windy and / or you need to fish with weight.
Sorry for all the questions. Q: if you use mainly 3x & 4x leaders. 1. How much do you use. 2. What are the other spools on the the lanyard, and what do you use them for. Regards Matt
Another great video Alex, fishing all day, editing all week you must be busy! Any chance you would name some of the rivers you fish, at least when it's a known spot and has public access? Some non - Taupo anglers might like a day/over night trip to something like the river featured in this video.
No mate I will never name the rivers I fish. They are all public access so anyone can fish them if they put in the time and effort to find them. I don’t want to be responsible for adding pressure to a fragile fishery through what I do. Plus, going and exploring is part of the fun of what we do!
@@TrippinOnTrout - I think your promotion of the sport and advocacy of sustainable fishing is great, we should want more people fishing, more places. I know this is counter intuitive too many fisher men/women. The latest Fish and Game Angling news has an article named 'Fight is on for trout fisheries' (about the new GWRC freshwater management plan). More people involved in fishing means a greater understanding of the importance of our waterways and better advocacy across the motu. If new anglers learn fishing from your site, all the better.

It's not always clean clear water here but it's definitely a Trout Fisherman's paradise all over our beautiful Country 👌😎💯
Beautiful fish start to end. That last fish was smiling.🙂
Great video, love it, greetings from the Emerald Isle,🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮
Rainbows are cool n everything but them browns are something special

Best UA-cam viewing of the week. You continue to knock it out the park Alex!
Those indicators are the ticket!
Any one of 4 fish would have made my day - that was awesome!
Spice mate, spice.

Chunky trout. Very nice.
Always amazing music/pace/flow with plenty of splash! 🔥

Nice one mate, great video and some nice fish caught. My rig holder looks alot like yours, except mine has not been tidied up for a few years.
Love that place bro, interesting to see you fish it downstream... Should get out there for a fish sometime this summer when the cicadas are in force
Awesome vid bro,
Unfortunate with the old boat.. guess that's why they say boat stands for "bust out another thousand" 😂
Such a great piece of water, with great fish, still my PB rainbow fishing with you there start of last year 🤙
Great day we had aye bro!

Our fish don’t tend to react too well to mouse patterns in the day bro - they generally just spook so that’s a tough one to do!

I seriously need to use stone flies more often😉
Frickin good day I can't see why you don't use sink tip extensions and shorter leaders for deeper water?
Why do you use the floating poly leader? What is the benefit?
WHAT is a POLY LEADER...?

Great video as always Alex. Random question: How many trout do you think you have caught in your life? I'm guessing a few thousand.
Oohhhhhhh that’s a good question bro! I have no idea🤷♂️
19:58 A big shadow appear at his left along the depth seam and moves gradually upstream. Play it at 2X speed & you can see it moving up.

Who would have thought? LOL
🤷♂️😅
You see that massive fish below you at 20:04!!?
It was an eel👍
Hi Alex do you use Mucilin on your cdc dries
I actually don’t use CDC flies but it’s something I want to start utilising more this year
Is that a chest pack your wearing?
Pay attention to safety in extracurricular activities, be careful there are big beasts eating you.😜😜😜😜😜😁😁😁😁
