Wonderful place to spend time in, well-caught fish a bonus! Had the mortification to snap the tip on my Helios 3F 8'6" rod yesterday... caught a few nice rainbows though so all not lost!

Man, I continue to be impressed with NZ and Australia’s trout fishing. Just amazing. The size and colors on the fish are ridiculous! And the uniqueness of the landscape as well. Tight lines from Pennsylvania, USA!
Alex, great video as always. I was wondering if you would consider doing a video on how to spot fish in different currents and flows? You are a master at this and it would be helpful if you shared your talents. Thanks for your passion and your willingness to share your knowledge with everyone. Tight Lines buddy
Nice one bro, enjoy your camping trip and fishing. Wish I was young again to do the back country stuff, locals are for me now. Had a good day the other day and got into a few.
I'm waaaY over in bc Canada And your first fish you said "rainbow," ....our rainbows mouths are much shorter never extending past the eye... The fish you got is exactly What our cutthroat look Like during spawning.... We also have a cutt/bow hybrid with rainbow marking and, slashes under the jaw.. Kind of cool....beauty fish... good job ...you probably have your hands full with different species but if you want fun on a fly rod checkout a steelhead from BC. We're kind of famous for that... Anyways cheers
I’ve told so many people about your videos they’ve taught me so much my success rate has gone up so much wish I could send some videos to you of some of my Idaho bows
Man! I know you fish much. Here in Fresno California it’s tough to catch a 20+ anywhere fly rodding! Keep the camp out simple and Private. So many good catching. Enjoy your videos 👍🏻
Nice Alex, thanks for sharing the flys you are using especially the grey thingy 😉, haven't found that one yet. But are keeping a eye out for it, in my local. Cheers, have a great week. Mike
Dang, another legendary video. Every trout you catch is literally what I dream of catching one day. Love the videos man really hope you keep making them!!!
Enjoyed your interview on the Orvis Podcast. You're definitely a leader in sharing this passion called fly fishing (one that i'm very new too). Cheers! and good adventures as you move into your high season, and we move into our cold weather.
Nice film, fantastic nature and big trout👍🎣😃 But one thing….I have no idea what foot feet and pounds are….I thought NZ uses the metric system?🤔😉 I guess only US uses the imperial system….just wondering😏
I would love to know what your kilometers per fish caught. Alex, your discipline to do what it takes (hiking in, bushwhacking, climbing waterfalls) to get on fish is admired. But I would be curious if you took your total hiking kilometers and the total number of fish you caught in a year, what that ratio would be…avg. of 3km/fish?? It would simply let all us anglers know what it really takes to get on good fish…as always, thanks for sharing another day in Alex’s life of fishing, Cheers!
That’s a really interesting idea mate. I really don’t know - prob averaged out it would be at least 3km a fish, most prob more🤷♂️ It’s certainly doable with less effort but I like those places that are more remote and harder to get to👍
@@TrippinOnTrout you keep doing you...cause that's what we enjoy. The one big thing that separates you from other Fly Fishing You-Tube Entertainers, is that you educate us with what your using , how to rig your rod, etc. We (the audience) do appreciate your professional insight 😉
A "couple of cool ducks"? I wonder if those ducks overheard your comment... If yes, they'd be strutting about, bragging to their buddies. In any case, I enjoyed the video Alex. Thanks for posting.
Just finished listening to your interview on the Orvis podcast with Tom Rosenbauer. It was great. I got some great tips for the warm water species in my corner of the world.
Great video! I enjoyed so much! You fished weighted nymph without indicator, right? I think you watch fish in the water but what do you do when you can't see fish like muddy water or deep water?
Use an indicator..!! There’s a time and a place for every method so try and learn as much as you can and then you have the tools in the toolbox for whatever you come across on the river 👍
I now know you're in New Zealand disregard the other comment on another video, sorry! I have another question it may be answered in another video but do you release all your fish or do you keep one to eat I imagine you get hungry out there??
No I never keep any fish. Some fisheries can handle people taking fish to eat but others (like the one in this video) cannot. There aren’t many fish in those remote streams and if people take fish from places like that, then pretty quickly there will be no fish next to breed and carry on the fishery.
Another great video! What a sweet start.
Great footage, totally worth the hike in!!
The water so clean very beautifull river
Stunningly beautiful scenery and superb big trout.
Excellent quality video!

Great one! Love the trips to the interior spots. The journey in and camp parts are really great.
