  • I head a long way into the hills to maybe my favourite place in the world to fish a small stream in amazing country. The weather is typical early season stuff and the river is full after a ton of rain which makes things tough but any day spent in here is a privilege.

In my opinion I have found something better than the New Zealand wool. It is called the Pat Dorsey indicator. Pat is a legend here in Colorado. But it floats all day, you can move it up and down your leader very easy, and it holds it shape, doesn’t tease out like the wool. Finally it is super sensitive. Might be worth checking out.

Outstanding Alex. Looked as cold with u as it here in SW Scotland LOL LOL 😆😂. That last brown on the dry. Priceless!!!. My preferred way to catch ..... on the dry..... . Plus added bonus if u have clear water . U get to see it come up for the fly before lol lol all hell brakes loose 🤣😂😅. Love it... u had the patience of a Saint early , where u had to change ur fly several times, many casts to get her to take. In the end skill and Perseverance won. Brill. Keep up the best fly content out there. Catch u later. Malky.

Adipose fin - I'm not sure if it's the same everywhere (genetics is a wonderful thing), but I have noticed that male brown trout in particular often have an exaggerated adipose fin over hen fish. I've not noticed that as much in sea run brown trout but again I have noticed it in Atlantic Salmon. Might be something like 'check out the size of my adipose' and if the hens have been 'particular' to males with the larger adipose it follows that the fish in a particular stream might show this trait more than trout in other streams.
