I love how this speaks to the human experience, and that the MC is an older woman! We still don't get enough MCs who are older, which is a shame
shows like that are ALWAYS good (even for those who aren't adults, like bojsck horseman. i"m a teenager, but i really find myself relating to them so much with my too fast maturing and existential dread. especially bojack hoeseman. REAALLY gave me something about acceptance))
Man I cannot do existential cartoons… they make me sad as hell.
@thetayterminator1436 they make me so sad but I can't explain. they're somewhat comforting and help me with my issues. maybe it's because i'm distracted by the horrible things happening to the characters?
really! YOUR NOT AN ANIMATION PERSON
THIS IS NOT THE GOLDEN GIRLS FANFICTION!
This shit looks like ass. Bitch with her Sonic the Hedgehog fuckin face
Honestly this style of show couldn’t come at a better time, a lot of us still feel lost cause of the time we had lost due to COVID etc, but it honestly has a lot of promise.
Dude, it feels like we're all just waiting for the other shoe to drop.
@@tarellcunninghamI was a freshman in high school in 2020 and now I’m going to college this January, and I still feel the same I did all that time ago.
Well things shouldn't feel the same, you're in college now for gods sake, go have fun. @@SamuelSamuelSamuel1
That’s why I didn’t change my life because of covid. Meanwhile people wore face diapers, got clot shots and stayed inside getting fat
@@Shendapyyou must have a pretty lame life
i just know that i’m going to cry so hard while watching this . as someone with frequent existential crises and death anxiety i literally teared up while just watching the trailer . actually so excited for this
I have existential crises often too, that's why I'm a nihilist and why I go to therapy once a month.
@@catdogmousecheesethanks for the input catdogmousecheese
I have death anxiety too. It is so nice to find others who have it because for the longest time it felt like I was alone
Same, I’ve had death anxiety for so long, it comes up in the darker days of the year more frequently for me, and not even kidding just half an hour ago I looked up tips to overcome it.
@@jediknightsamuel I don't think you overcome it. You just have better days and learn to avoid triggers. For me, I'm very, very careful about avoiding movies, shows, religious topics, anything to do with physics, medical stuff, shows with zombies.
It really has that feel to Bojack Horseman where Carol can be quite relatable with stuff happening when the world is nearing to it's endgame and the artstyle brings that whole European animation vibe (like Gumball and Nate Is Late) with the humans, I can tell how promising it will be when it gets released and how it will be a special one season wonder from beginning to end.
It's also got some definite influence from Joe Pera by the look of it too.
I thought of BoJack horseman too
It giving meatcanyon but it weird
It's not game over yet, but the Toonerfriends will save the world of 2025 for soldiers met!
I hope the series actually ends the world and is not a fake-out (the colliding planet disappears or phases through Earth). Ending the Earth would be somewhat bittersweet since it has that much of an impact to Carol's decisions and gives a finality.
Knowing Netflix if the show does well they'll probably do a fakeout for season 2. I think the better way if they want to do season two is to follow a different character completely unrelated to carol through the 7 months and see how they live their life.
@@brucewayne8697 i like the different character idea better!
very true
@brucewayne8697 ooh I love the anthology idea. It's the entire world so maybe instead of finding answers in the end isn't their concern but instead the regrets they made before the end of the world or maybe doubting their life choices because it was what they were told they wanted
I wouldn't mind a fake out ending because then it could allow Carol to realise and the world the wealth of life and that you just need to do what you want but leave the story there with no other season.
I have NEVER seen a facial birthmark/ portwine on tv and i am 25. I know it was just 3 seconds of a background character but that shot it more rep than i have ever had and if i saw that as a kid it would have helped me more than i can even explain. Thank yall so much. Genuinely brought tears to my eyes.
I also have a facial birthmark, and we are almost same age. I can feel you!
never? oh wow!!
When?
Wes Anderson - Grand Budapest Hotel
Another one
Yes! I love how the representation in that show doesn’t feel forced to meet quota or anything! It’s just people, like you’d see in your daily life with all their differences and particularities . The facial birthmark is a great example of that too! 😄
It's giving very Bojack vibes, and I love the fact that it seemingly has a definitive end to it, so you get the sense that it won't drag on forever.
End of the world stories are so interesting, because in a lot of ways it makes it easier to re-evaluate your own very micro experience in telling ways when it is extrapolated to the entire species and planet as a whole.
When you say Bojack vibes do you mean that it's a dramedy?
@@hipsterelephant2660 A bit. Bojack is actually on its merits a very depressing show, even the window things don't end with a happy ending for Bojack, but he makes progress. Similarly, the world is gonna end, or at least looks like it, in this show. So it won't be about the destination but rather the journey.
Also, much like Bojack the use of animation is gonna facilitate probably talking about very heavy and dark subject matter.
Thank you for clarifying.
Bojack is about nihilism, this looks like a search for meaning in the face of nilhism.
These are polar opposites of each other, as far on the spectrum apart as possible. They treat the same subject inversely. One with a meaningful solution (it seems), the other will likely lead people to drink and do self-harm instead.
I couldn't disagree more with that statement.
2:00 "Sometimes you just gotta give things time to be lost... Before they can be found."
ughh, i teared, this going to be a rollercoaster of emotion again and im ready for it
This has the potential to be brilliant. A female protagonist who doesn’t have everything figured out like a lot of female mcs written now and days. I have a feeling this is going to resonate with a lot of people including me
I like stories that focus on loners, they can be so heartwarming
Disney reading this: no, op is just toxic fan
"now and days"
I loved it. The surfing episode (ep 9) was the best imo
@@jasonhertzberg4818 that and the camera episode felt surprisingly longer than the other ones for some reason, even though they're all the same lenght (i think)
The simplicity of animation and the complexity of the human experience seem to alway be a good match. Scavengers reign did a great job of this as well. I look forward to this one.
This is like an animated version of Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, which means it’s gonna be good but it’s gonna make me cry a lot
Exactly what I thought.
Miracle Mile and Last Night are similar films you might like
I worked on it and it and it made me cry haha Is a really wholesome adult show can't wait for it to come out :)
Never heard of that one. I viewed it as an animated version of Melancholia from another perspective.
As soon as I heard Martha Kelly’s voice come out of Carol, I instantly got excited. I loved her in Baskets, so the fact that she’s now the star of an adult animated series is beyond incredible. Can’t wait to binge this one!
I recognized her voice from the AOK channel short “Iggy and Friends part 2,” she was the PERFECT choice for this role and I can’t wait to watch!
I love the look of the show honestly. And Carol herself is certainly an interesting choice for main character. Looking forward to this one.
Carol has a horrible design @Lena-zc1we
This looks like a "side story of Don't Look Up"(Great Movie) but more deeper and I'm here for it
"more deeper"
This looks so good and by the end might have me in that good state of existential dread that kickstarts the motivation to reevaluate my life.
Love the premise; I sometimes fear that I’m waisting my life and wonder what I would do if the world ended.
We need this. It means a lot to me that I'm not the only one who is struggling with these feelings every day. I remember a time when it felt like we could do anything and forever. But now things have never been the same, covid has shaped this new generation pretty hardcore.
Covid was different for me. I had spent years with a death anxiety, I wasn't sure how I was going to do with Covid. But I did fine. Yes, it was scary, but I didn't lose myself like so many others did.
Hi there, now is the time to repent and to get serious with God. What the Bible said would happen just before the end-times is unfolding before our very eyes. Jesus Christ is coming very very soon (no one knows the exact hour or day but we know as Christians we are very close). Turn from all wickedness and be born-again and transformed by the Holy Spirit so that you can overcome sin. Get right with God because when things get really serious many won't have the time then. God hates all sin because He is holy and the only way to be made right with Him is to be washed in the blood of His Son Jesus Christ who took God's wrath for all the sin you have commited. Trust in Jesus to save you and you won't have to go through the end of the world - His Church is promised the rapture. Indeed time is short, don't take it for granted.

@@carlycrays2831 Anxiety is so crippling, that sucks you had to deal with all that. I can't think about it too hard either or everything gets all wonky. I'm glad you didn't loose yourself though! it is the worst it feels like a death. How did you keep yourself sane if I may ask?
will i sob my eyes out every single episode? yes.
will i still binge the entire series the minute it comes out?
ABSOFUCKINGLUTLEY!!
Everything from the plot & narrative structure, the concept, to the character design is just so creative! I also really like how this show (along with Bojack) uses a middle-aged protagonist. It’s refreshing. I’ve gotten tired of movies/shows about highschool/college
Agree. As a girl who's 21 years old, I've always been told to enjoy my youth while it lasts. That highschool are the best days of your life. But I disagree. If you live your life right, the best days are yet to come. Life doesn't stop as you get older. You just forget how it's like to live. Everyday on earth is blessing. More shows need to recognize that instead of hyperfixating on high school or college. It's embarrassing. But most importantly, it's sad.
Wow, an animated show with a unique concept and looks like it's gonna be amazing? Netflix will give it the boot after one season, I'm sure.
well if we're lucky this show WILL only last one season. a story like this isn't meant to be dragged on longer than that.
@@buttersticks7877especially when you consider the premise. I dont think itll come as a surprise when the first season ends with the end of the World
Looks good! Netflix has been producing some great animated works recently so I have high hopes for this one
Yeah Big Mouth is prolly one of if not my fav adult cartoon beside Rick and Morty...Big Mouth n it's spinoff Human Resources are funny than a mf
One of the best recents ones has to be Blue Eye Samurai 💙💙
Maybe.... I'm not too convinced about this one.
Blue Eye Samurai Was the only good adult animated show I considered good. The rest… yeah.. they’re not good
I like the kid animated movies though. But cartoon adult media is not something Netflix understands
This looks really good! The trailer alone perfectly encapsulates that feeling uncertainty and dejection you feel as it seems everyone around you has their lives figured out, yet you’re still just trying to find something that makes life worth living and brings you happiness
I like this! Looks like a story that could happen in same setting as "Don't Look Up" or "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World"
just finished it, it felt so safe i wish this gets another season
This is something that will capture "that feeling" of missing out and the vertigo about ab uncertain furure we all are passing through as "Everything everywhere all at once" also did . Looks awesome
I love how this looks and the premise, and an older (seemingly unmarried and childless) woman MC!! Awesome!
yeah i like that she's a very real person in feeling, like this is a good chunk of people in the midwest are like carol
Even when it's the end of the world, when someone you've only met for 2 days, tells you that they love you and tries to force you into their life, that will always be a red flag. I'm on episode 3, and so far, I love it.
I actually think this is going to be a down to earth series and about how you can change your and other peoples lives by doing small things, it looks very unique
I'm about 4 episodes in and I have a sneaking suspicion it will turn out to be not quite so down to earth! But I won't say what I think the plot twist will be, in case I spoil it for everyone by being right!

In the meantime, everyone should watch 'Seeking a Friend for the End of the World'. Its a beautiful movie starring Steve Carrel and Kiera Knightly. The world is going to be destroyed by a meteor and society quickly devolves into chaos as everyone tries to experience what they never got to before the impending doom. The story follows a man with no friends, no family (essentially nothing) who gets caught up in his neighbours journey trying to find a way to get home to England to be with her family before the world ends. Its such a beautiful movie, one of my favourites and I really hope more people see it.
Finally and animation from Netflix that isn’t just a paradise pd looking comedy and is deep idk how there isn’t a lot more considering bojack is the best and most popular animated show they have I thought they loved making money
you know action cartoons exist
@@banquetoftheleviathan1404 so what’s your point
Imagine if someone who worked on BoJack, the lead character designer for instance, turned around and gave Netflix another great adult cartoon and Netflix didn't cancel it after one season
not even 5 minutes in the show, and i already feel like carol
Whoa an animated series that doesn't just ape the look of Regular Show, Bob's Burgers, or Family Guy, that's reason enough to be excited
@@ivoneo2806 because the original shows are fine, they just very quickly became two of those go-to CalArts graduate art styles where every other show looks like "Regular Show BUT [show concept]" and such
I understand what you mean at first, but there are a lot of current adult western shows that don't imitate that style, like Arcane, Primal, Invincible, The Midnight Gospel, Agent Elvis, Strappare Lungo I Bordi (and its sequel), Unicorn: Warriors Eternal or Captain Laserhawk (although that one is not so good). Out of that, I agree that this looks good.
@@nicolascaggia1965 same and I agree
This looks so fantastic!!!!! Finally an art style that isn't a copycat of something that already exists, you can tell a lot of care and thought went into this. Can't wait!
I'm going to cry during every episode aren't I?
I'm just now realizing this show came out on my Birthday! But I didn't realize it until a bit later. I just finished the show today (Jan 2) and I am incredibly moved. It was the end of Carol's world but it's the beginning of mine.
The show is like if Bojack Horseman and Melanchoila had a baby
They did a great job of making the animation look like the voice actress. She is awesome- so dead pan and so creepy in Euphoria. Can't wait to watch.
¡Lo amo! Más series así.
I’m already obsessed with this and it’s not even out yet. Can tell I will cry
we really need a second season
A new animated show with an actually appealing art-style?? This is incredible! I'm super excited for this!!
Love the animation style! Excited to see something that looks different.
Выглядит сногсшибательно, рисовка такая вкусная и подпаяла невероятна! Я буду ждать 15 декабря с нетерпением. Я даже могу сказать что возможно это будет один из моих самых любимых сериалов!
Definitely checking this out
Omg i can't bear to see the character design like this
This was an amazing movie from start to finish unpredictable. I guess everyone has there own perspective of the world, but this perspective specifically seems more relatable to the world we live in today or maybe just the mindset. She made a difference and she brought life back into a world of grey. I did question a bit about why were they working when everything was gone, trashed, and abandoned, later finding out that it wasn't about the money or their financial situation but more about having something to do to pass away time. Some people just have to have something to hold onto making them feel alive when everything around them is dying and passing away. To keep them intact with their character in the role of the life they use to know. About the banana bread, that was my favorite part. She had an idea about the woman where the woman called the bread death by banana bread. Although the woman misunderstood what she was trying to say I felt like she couldn't really express what she actually meant, having a hard time communicating. I actually was so into the movie that I said aloud "well her response could of been that's the name of the bread, labeling as a form of signature" when the woman became offended.
The bread seemed to be the connection, I loved the metaphor of the bread itself.
This movie was amazing and very authentic.
I love your comment! :)
This art style is absolutely gorgeous, very captivating
i wish we had the last episode from carol's perspective :( it was beautiful to see her open up and be more confident.
same, but i feel like at the same time we get to see how impactful carol’s love was to so many people and how their life altered to be better by not feeling empty and alone during these times. however i felt like the ending was very much rushed and felt choppy
I loved this. I hope there is a season 2
Just finished binge-watching this, it was amazing and I highly recommend it 🤝
I love all the different art styles that are coming out in animated shows these days!
I have been thinking for the past few months about writing a book about "the end of the world is already in progress". And then this pops up. I am satisfied with this. Stuff like this is great for me; existential dread is my baseline.
É impossível nao se emocionar com algumas cenas. Amei a série, terminei em prantos com dor no coração. As pessoas esquecem que a coisa mais valiosa que temos é amizade.

this made me cry, I can't wait for more.
I loved this show so much. Binged it today, gonna rewatch again. Its what I do when I love a series I just finished.
So, it's kind of like Melancholia if it weren't set in the middle of a forest... even the planets look similar.
Honestly, though, I mean that as a compliment (because god knows we have enough apocalyptic movies set in the middle of nowhere). Animation is an underrated medium for apocalyptic fiction like this (because people still think that animation is for "kids only"), because you're not as restricted by budget and scenery as you are with animating.
It isn't kind of like, it is just Melancholia lmao
It looks great. Netflix is having an amazing year in animation.
Been waiting for this one to come out!
I know I'm going to cry from this. So ready!
I absolutely loved it!! It's so weird and sweet and funny. Just finished Ep 8 and bawled my eyes out. Thank you!!
This animation about the end of the world seems like it will show the point of view of a personal side of the character instead of several stories being told randomly, I hope the story is good.
I’m on episode 3 and I’m actually loving it so far. Definitely worth the watch
The art direction look really amazing and great, I can’t wait!
Lars Von Trier's "Melancholia".
Gosh, the trailer is already giving me heart palpitations hahah
I love carols voice!
It’s awesome, love the convos between the co workers.
I love Donna.
Did anyone else come here after watching the series? What did you think?
in my opinion, within my comment: I liked it, it has a very bojack horseman vibe and the search for purpose, despite that, after the first episode I couldn't identify much with her joining the company (it must be because I don't work yet). but I liked the story, despite her having a melancholic personality, at the end of the series I realized that she found comfort and managed to pull her co-workers towards the same social good. In the end, all we have is each other, as the Emicida said
I really enjoyed watching it, it made me reflect on life.
Was bored out off my mind, and this show is nowhere to be close to Bojack.
