Synopsis:
SEEKING A FRIEND FOR THE END OF THE WORLD stars Golden Globe Award winner Steve Carell and Academy Award nominee Keira Knightley and is the feature directorial debut of screenwriter Lorene Scafaria. Set in a too-near future, the movie explores what people will do when humanity's last days are at hand. As the respective journeys of Dodge (Mr. Carell) and Penny (Ms. Knightley) converge, the two spark to each other and their outlooks - if not the world's - brighten.

The warmest and most heartfelt an apocalypse could be - nice to see a story that's on a human scale, not the usual 'big stuff exploding' typical of this genre.

to me it's not sad at all. it's like garden state, but natalie portman gets more of a character to play.
This movie makes me reflect upon my life in more ways than one. Good script. Heart warming, a little sad but overall, hopeful.
This movie really stayed with me...
I read a fan fiction today that was inspired by this movie and it left me speechless. I then picked up the courage and watched this. And I felt the same gut wrenching feeling. It made me really realise how lonely I feel

At some point, at some level, you either "see" or you don't.
As Jesus made abundantly clear, brains or education or experience or wealth or power don't necessarily offer that insight and discernent, even as the Holy Spirit does.
Or as Huey Lewis once sang: "The power of love is a curious thing, make a one man weep, make another man sing. Change a hawk to a little white dove, more than a feeling, that's the power of love. Tougher than diamonds, rich like cream, stronger and harder than a bad girl's dream. Make a bad one good, make a wrong one right, power of love will keep you home at night. You don't need money, don't take fame, don't need no credit card to ride this train. It's strong and it's sudden and it's cruel sometimes, but it might just save your life".
Of course, in the context of the above film having one's life "saved" is a relative term ... but then that has been the same since Jesus made his great sacrifice of devotion for us.

This movie is.mix of comedy love story and horror. And a.moral to all mankind that God gave as a few week to change ask for a forgivenes and to be ready .

There are no comments allowed there.
The scene is tremendous, courageous, demanding, sad, beautiful, joyous, underplayed and so very right.
They are a couple wrong and meaningless in any other circumstance ... except the one the film portrays.
Hence the title.
Crazy that the pastiche "Don't look up" came to a sort of similar conclusion (well, near-conclusion, to be exact).
But Seeking a Friend is 10 years old, and it seems even more relevant now...

Great movie, but can't there ever be a film where the main characters actually get married before they sleep together? I mean what better time than the end of the world to realize how worthless and pointless our sins are and how empty they make us feel. You don't ''do anything you wanna do'' to have a fulfilled life, because doing anything you wanna do often includes things that make us emptier. And you could see those two felt regret after they 'slept together' in that car, you could see it in their faces. If it's something you feel is probably wrong, it's probably wrong, Why add more regrets to your list when you already feel you've wasted your life? You don't sleep with someone to determine if you love them, you love them enough to marry them and promise to stay by them and then you seal that bond and promise with that act within marriage.
What will set us apart from those creeps at those crazy parties if we do exactly what they do? Marriage shows a commitment, a determination to stay even when the going gets tough, a true relationship or friendship is not just a passing whimsy of feeling or something you can walk away from, marriage is responsibility. But instead we're told ''Do what thou wilt'' Nope, how about ''Do the right thing'' ? Because at least then you can live with yourself
