Will the quest 3s get a software update to make them compatible because I was thinking of getting a 3s but don’t want to let the controllers go to waste
Hi Shhark, Meta Quest 3 and 3S come with the Meta Quest Touch Plus controllers. They feature improved haptics and a ringless design, with the tracking LEDs embedded in the faceplate and base. You can also use the Touch Pro controllers that were released with the Meta Quest Pro on Quest 3. Touch Pro controllers are not supported on Quest 3S.

lmao, removing audio jack is the worst decision. Like, i'm okay if you added second usb-c port, but having a single usb-c port is dumb. Headset is cr@p, useless now.
My guy you can just use a Bluetooth headset. Besides microphone and sound are included anyways. Most headphones that require a jack are low quality anyway so I don't understand why it's such a big issue for you?
@@jz261 "Most headphones that require a jack are low quality anyway" lolwut, where did you hear this from? For a given set of bluetooth headphones, for the same price you should always be able to find a wired set of higher sound/build quality. Plus, latency is still a concern, especially if you play rhythm games like Beat Saber or Synth Riders at a high level. And this largely negates the benefits of popular integrated audio strap mods, like with KSC75 headphones, which I've done on my Q2 and Q3. Without a jack, you have to deal with pairing, latency, and an extra device you need to worry about keeping charged. And this should go without saying, but the "included" speakers are likely to be both tinny and significantly audible to others, which is undesirable for both parties.
@@smittyvanjagermanjenson182 Why is 3.5mm Aux obsolete? Because it's old? It's not like HDMI or DP digital connections where they have to constantly have to update standards to support higher bandwidths and such. Aux transmits analog audio signals fine, the actual quality depends on the DAC. Sure, USB-C allows you use your own higher-end external DAC, but I think Aux hits a better sweet spot in terms of ease-of-use. The omission of Aux would've been more forgivable if they added a second USB-C port, but they didn't, so you either have to deal with switching cables back-and-forth to charge and use the device, or hope there's a compatible, reasonably-priced hub that doesn't add too much heft and works without issue (especially WRT power draw). My real point is, if they were able to include Aux in their past budget HMDs, I'm skeptical that their reasons for removing it were primarily technical. Just like I'm skeptical of the removal of Aux and microSD slots on new phones (maybe I'm an outlier but I don't buy that it's "courageous" and "green" to remove these features, require you to pay $$$ for a little more storage, and also not even include a cable now, I guess). In fact, the removal of Aux is even sadder for HMDs because they don't have the usual drawback of having to deal with a dangling cord: the HMD is right next to your ears! To be clear, I don't agree with the original commenter who said this would be useless, I'm sure this will be a fine entry-level HMD. I just don't think the removal of Aux is something to be trivialized.
I don’t understand for who this headset is made. People who already have quest 3 have no reason to get it and they aren’t a target audience. People with Quest 2 don’t see a point of upgrading to it, because we use it for gaming and the upgraded pass through isn’t that important, while the upgraded hardware is cool, the main roadblock for the visuals is the resolution which wasn’t increased dramatically enough for us to upgrade. Original quest users? Sure but it isn’t that many people, and they mostly seem to consist of the group of people who buy something and use it until it breaks, which makes me think that they will in the end up throw in a couple of dollars to upgrade to quest 3. As a quest 2 user, I didn’t see quest 3 to be a sufficient enough upgrade even through I have the money so I will definitely not be getting 3s. I believe there was a huge missed operunity of just making quest 3 $50 cheaper, and making a proper upgrade for quest 3 for $200 more then the current price of quest 3.
@@RaziOrSomething I guess my issue with that is that this group of people is extremely small. Quest 3 regularly goes on discounts for $420 which is only a $120 more then the base quest 3s. I actually gently don't know anyone who can't afford to add $120 on to a $300 dollar purchases of a device that they will be using for multiple years, to make it substantially better in almost every way.
bro, most Quest 2 owners are Children. Thats not a small group in the slightest, when the parents are buying gifts they arent looking for the high end, just so their kid breaks it. Also as tech is always moving forward the Quest 2 is pretty horrible standalone hardware by todays standards. So as a VR introduction to a curious buyer, who also isn't trying to drop an extra $200 for something they may not even like, the 3S is great news for consumers. As VR becomes more wide spread, then well see a shift to pancake lenses coming standard on headsets, but for now its about pulling people in with a reasonable point of entry
@@smittyvanjagermanjenson182 Ohh god here we go. Most buyers who are just curies buy stuff on sale, and feel free to read my original comment again, because I will reiterate, $50 is not a sufficient enough price difference to be a deal beaker. VR will not become more wide spread if it will stagnate. Again if they just lower the price of quest 3 by $50 they will: Get a benefits from economy of scale, provide a better product, and be able to capitalize on the audience that wants an upgrade, which is a lot of people. The only reason for the 3S existence as I can see is mixed reality, but even you clearly don't care about it, and so does no one else because it is still extremely raw.
