Hidden Gems in Photoshop CC | Adobe

I don't know if I've ever heard anyone squeeze that much information in such a short time period. I want her as my teacher... more time experimenting and less time in lectures. besides, she's awesome!
this is so cool
+elaine ossipov A photoshop professor of mine used her videos all the time.
I have to test these tonight. Very very handy!
I have 2015 CC but all the gems shown are not available . What should I do for those GEMS ?.
I've been using Photoshop since 1996, and everything (except oil paint) in this video was news to me :) Probably because it's all new features, but still, it's getting harder and harder to find stuff I don't already know! So, a very good video, thanks!! OK, maybe we have an issue with Oil Paint missing in newer Photoshop versions, but still. I actually found good use for Oil Paint when creating enlargements of photos where I wanted a more painted look, it beautifully covered up badly enlarged gradients, noise, compression artefacts and pixels.
Awesome!

I've read the comments below, but I have no tree in the scripted patterns dropdown. How do I find this tree?
How did you add the darkened edges to your pics?? IT LOOKS SO COOL!!!!!!!!!
How can we have a tree in a fill section?
Amazed
The tree option comes up if you are in the fill->pattern mode, then you get the scripted pattern option on the bottom. I don't know if there needs to be a selection first. It looks like fun, but what's the real life use for it! Replace 3d landscape generating programs?
The trees are amazing, would it be possible to add a few common Australian Eucalyptus? Unless we're doing a garden setting, landscapes are useless for us :)
13 minutes that will make major changes to your workflow
Gracias.
ownd it
Hi Julianne, where can I get this option in PS cc. I can't find it in edit option.
Shane: even tho CC on your tool bar make say that Ps is updated it might not actually be.Within Ps go to Help>Update and you will see if there is an available update there.
Carrie: Thanks for the suggestion but I have done that already :-) Still no joy
No Oil Paint in Photoshop CC 2014 :-(
I use it a lot with my images of flowers. It's really time consuming to use PS CC 2014 and then have to open PS CC to finish.
I'm using Photoshop CC but I don't have the option for the tree. Is it hidden somewhere?
I have the latest photoshop cc but i am not getting to do the trees or borders, my photoshop does not have that function, WHY?
Great video!
For some reason, my scripted patterns for tree worked just fine until I selected the Pine Tree, at which point I had an error message that basically said Photoshop CC couldn't load the file 'pine_alpha_4.png". What's going on?
The preview for trees is precomputed in images and you hit one preview image that seems to be missing from the build - on my machine too. Copy one of the others (search install dir for pine_alpha_2.png and copy it as pine_alpha_4.png). The transparency will be off for that setting but the rest will work again.
Radomir Mech Thanks so much for updating the image, Radomir.
I have PS CC17. For trees go to ... filter ... render .... trees. For oil paint go to ...filter...stylize... oil paint
It is a shame this is just for CC, I have CS6 extended and I didn't know all this was available so I am not really missing what I didn't know I had... if you know what I mean. There is so much more to Photoshop!
I have the latest update for PS CC and the fill for paths is greyed out. Also no scripted tree fills either?
me too
Just updated and the features are available for me. Odd
Disabled for me too... with no indication why.
I just checked and I have Version 14.2. Any ideas anyone? Maybe I will lodge a query with Adobe if they don't reply here
Shane Bekker Even i updated to 14.2... But they options are not grayed out for me!
Is this only for CC?...I have CS6 and can't do that.
I've got 14.2.1 installed and I don't have any of these showing up in the menus.
What should I do?
it's moved - go to filter - render
Too bad it is no longer in CC 2015.50 why?!?!?! id there anyway to restore yjis Scripted patternslike trees and frams?
Filter > Render > Tree. It is NOT under any 'scripted pattern' option in Fill. nuf bout dis.
I think that giving in to the fact that the newly created, clip-art replacing tree doesn't blend well or look realistic and applying an artistic effect to the entire image to make it 'fit' is a bit of a cop-out. I think that it can be made more realistic within the background by using additional tools such as gausian blur to soften the edges, and other tools to reduce contrast, change colors, etc. She obviously wanted to give a hint to the new features, or gems as she calls them, without going into the more advanced aspects of making them 'work' for any particular project. There are other videos that handle this issue in more depth and maybe someone at Adobe will handle this issue in a future video. I personally never used this feature before, but always replicated real trees and patched and cloned in branches with leaves to fill in over newly created grass, etc., which eliminated a lot of the issues related to incorporating 'fake' trees.
I agree that she should stop using her 'do you hear me now' voice at the end of every comment. It is as annoying as the teacher on South Park that finishes every statement with 'ummm'kay?'.
Thanks ! it's right answer
what happened to this feature it does not appear on PS CC 14
My problem too!! Have they taken this option away?
ok - after much hunting it has been moved - try filter... render... and there they are!!!
Bassbarbie thanks, without reading comments wasted so much of time
For those that have the Tree option greyed out, it seems this is only available for the 64bit version. In my 32bit CC, Picture Frame and Tree are greyed out, but both active in my 64bit version. Don't ask me why Adobe did it. Hope it helps.
I am on 64 bit Mac and see no option for trees at all in CC2014. I stumbled upon it in my previous CS5 version so thought I was going mad when I couldn't find it
The tree option isn't even visible for me. I don't even see it grayed out. :/
I found it - they moved it - it's now under ... Filter>Render>tree
You need to have a file/photo open to see the Filter options
Bassbarbie LOL...I was looking for it in CC 2014. Thanks!
TorontoIam Glad it helped someone :)... they chopped them down and replanted them under filters lol!
PS slogan should be 'narrowing the gap between perception and reality"
i have adobe photoshop cc but there no option for hidden tree!!! where to find this hidden tree? i opened the fill option but nothing there? any idea please?
in the fill dialog find scripted pattern first , then below will appear scripted pattern, then you can edit a CG tree, but you probably have your answer
Thanks Chris Walzak , I got it good job
video quality is very poor i can not see the tools that you are clicking with,, please post some with clear video, thanks!!!
no oil paint
I learned something watching this video, that's a good thing?
Sadly this lady is difficult to listen to? She makes every statement sound like a question?
***** How do you know all this! I am impressed. Any reading you can recommend on this topic?
Thanks. I've been listening to Brits more and more as the the "uptalk" and "vocal fry" is irritating.
Yes, she is very technical and she speaks very rapidly and is not good for this type of online instruction. Serge Ramelli does a better job with Adobe products.
Wouldn't it be nice if Adobe would actually respond to some concerns of some of their clients. Such as the 'greyed-out' Tree option. Doesn't work for me either. Regardless if I would use it or not, their support lacks.
It would also be nice if they didn't delete comments of people asking for help. I personally posted on here that my Trees option was grayed out weeks ago, and now that comment is gone.
doubledeej Your graphics card does not support the 3D rendering that this filter requires. That is why it is greyed out.
Chris Sharesky My card absolutely does... it's a 4GB nVidia GTX 760... plenty of memory and processing power.
The Trees option was disabled due to some sort of bug in Photoshop. Once I disabled and then re-enabled OpenCL (restarting PSCC after each step), then created a 3D extrusion the option finally turned on.
adobe seems to have completely lost focus concerning what photoshop should be... in a while you should be thinking of changing the name to something else without the word photo in it.it's such a pity..
But, isnt it too much for art sake? I mean, photoshop is actually much already for hiding what is true behind cameras. I remember when photographer just use camera film, they can create effect without using adobe or any software. Ok fine, for business purposes, for illustrator and graphic artist.
