    Thanks for posting the videos. I just bought a 750, picking it up in a couple weeks. I enjoyed your walk through, one of the reasons we went with the Palamino.

      Hi Nicholas, thanks for reaching out!
      Congrats man! I think you’re gonna love it like I do! I’ve used mine extensively since I bought it and it has proven to be a durable, comfortable and very roomy camper. I would recommend a thin rubber bed mat to keep the camper from moving around in the bed. I bought one and made some shim blocks to fit between the camper box and the wheel wells. Doesn’t move around at all now. Let me know when you pick it up and let me know if you have any questions or anything. Love to see pics of your new rig to! See you down the road!

    Just ran across this series, while researching a purchase of an HS750. Thanks for such an informational and detailed walkthrough. Well Done!!
    Now that you have had it for awhile, are you still pleased with it?
    It appears you really enjoy your beer and wine... just remember, Eight hours from bottle to throttle; you want to avoid squawking 7700🤣🤣🤣
    Just messing with ya... noticed your icom keychain😉😉

      Heck yeah! I’m a home brewer as well! Maybe I should do a video on that🤔
      Thank you for tuning in and for the comment!
      The short answer is yes, I have very much enjoyed the camper! It has kept us warm in the Colorado winter and nice and cool in the Texas heat. It’s also kept us nice and dry during some crazy rain storms!
      There have been a few nickel and dime items that have needed attention but that’s to be expected with any RV really. I have replaced those freakin freezer door spring hinges several times already but that’s a Dometic thing not a Palomino thing. I can’t find any that will last more than a season!
      The camper feels solid overall however, I have had to re-secure loose trim here and there and re-adhere some wall paper in the overhead bunk area (likely a result of the 110 degree summers we get here in Texas) but overall, feels solid. The electric jacks are a must as well!
      I paid right at 30,000 out the door and that even included the Torklift frame mounted tie downs, the Fast Gun turnbuckles, battery, full propane, electric jacks and AC.
      Given the cost of many other truck campers out there, not a bad deal!
      Are you considering an HS-750?
      Let me know what direction you decide to go!
      Thanks again for checking in and I’ll see you down the road!

    You did a fantastic job reviewing all the features in the camper.
    I have one question.
    Is there a on board 120 volt convertor/charger that charges the 12 volt battery when the camper is plugged into 120 volts ?

      Yep, there sure is! Battery will charge when plugged into 120v (standard household outlet) and 30 amp (shore power at campground).

      Good morning! 1.5x speed? I wonder what that’s about…
      With regard to the mpg, I have squeezed as high as 14 with the camper on on flat interstate with little to no wind however, I have seen single digits on steep grades and/or head winds! I do love the 6.2 gasser though. Plenty of power and torque when you want or need it but gets thirsty sometimes! Thanks for watching!

      @@Seeyoudowntheroad-bc7om What's your typical mpg on that truck WITHOUT the camper?
      Regarding the view speed...I listen to alot of books and podcasts and when someone has a slow talking style/manner (that's not an insult or anything) I increase the speed to reduce what I perceive as empty gaps.

      @@Seeyoudowntheroad-bc7om Thank you. I was trying to figure out how much of a drop the camper causes. I have a 2.7 liter ecoboost F150 and was interested in how much of a drop I could expect with this camper, which I really like.

    does it feel top heavy going around corners? just curious. I used to have a truck camper on an F150, but have an F350 now. does it also feel like heavy payload? great tour, thanks!

      Are you able to lock the camper from inside?
      That storage drawer under the bed is ingenious!

    Thank you for your thorough review, I would love to get the camper like yours in the near future, is the new 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 (either gas or diesel) be enough to handle the camper? Do I need air bags on the rear axle? I believe the max payload for the truck is about 3800 lbs

    • @Seeyoudowntheroad-bc7om
      @Seeyoudowntheroad-bc7om  2 роки тому +2

      Good morning and thank you for reaching out!
      The Chevy Silverado 2500 is a great candidate for the HS-750. You can find all of the specifics on payload on the sticker on the driver’s side door jamb including the Gross Vehicle Weight Range. Truck manufacturers design their trucks to a specific GVWR and depending on how the truck is optioned out will affect the actual payload capacity. My F-250 has a GVWR of 10,000lbs. I chose the XL trim to maximize my payload capacity as I knew I’d be hauling a camper and the additional optional equipment found on the higher trim levels like XLT, Lariat etc. will add weight to the truck and subtract from the payload capacity.
      While the diesel is great for torque and hauling, the Powerstroke weighs about 800lbs more than the 6.2 gasser. That’s 800lbs less I can safely haul. I imagine the Duramax is quite a bit heavier to.
      The HS-750 advertises a ship weight of 1870lbs. This is before adding any optional equipment such as AC, awning, microwave, solar panel etc. not to mention food, beer, camping equipment and such! A good rule of thumb is to add 1000lbs to the ship weight of the camper. The sticker on the door jamb will also tell you the axle weight range as well. You want to make sure that when you’re all loaded up and ready to hit the road, the total weight of the truck, occupants, equipment, camper and anything else you want to bring along, stays under the GVWR. Rolling down the road overweight (many rigs out there are) is not only putting undue stress on your truck but is also not safe as the braking, steering etc. will be adversely affected.
      As for airbags, I don’t have them installed on my truck (remember even they will add weight!) and it handles the camper great. If you experience a lot of roll in turns or the truck squats enough with the camper on that the headlights are no longer positioned correctly, you may want to consider air bags. Remember though, airbags don’t increase your GVWR!
      Hope this helps and please feel free to reach out if you have any other questions!
      I also have a video on GVWR on my channel
      Seeyoudowntheroad7315.
      I’d love to see pics of your rig once you have it set up!

      @@Seeyoudowntheroad-bc7om I'm impressed by your honest and detailed answer. I totally agree about adding 1000 lbs to the manufacturer's listed dry weight.
      Some 3/4 ton trucks will be at around 2700 lbs of payload which means you need to look for a camper that weighs 2000 or less. If you want the big payload numbers (max advertised payload) you really have to special order a bare-bones truck.

  • @wol9ver6ine
    @wol9ver6ine 2 роки тому

    So you didn't show it when you were talking about payload but what's the truck's door sticker show for payload seeing it's a 6.2 gasser, XL extended cab?

    • @Seeyoudowntheroad-bc7om
      @Seeyoudowntheroad-bc7om  2 роки тому

      Good morning! So the sticker on the drivers side door jamb says “The combined weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed 3375lbs”.
      Precisely why I chose the XL trim and wanted the 6.2 to maximize my payload.
      I also have a video on my seeyoudowntheroad7315 channel that goes into great detail on GVWR ( titled Gross vehicle Weight Range) and loading. Thanks for watching and checking in!

      Hi Gregory, when folded out into bed mode it measures in at just under 5 feet in length (59”) and about 31” in width so not huge but great for a child. Also good for me at 6’ if the only other choice is the ground!

    Okay I'll ask one third and final time but the price was out the door I can't get any dealership to give me a straight answer they all want to BS and have you drive your truck at 8 Mi a gallon in there so they can lie to you

    • @Seeyoudowntheroad-bc7om
      @Seeyoudowntheroad-bc7om  2 роки тому +1

      Hey man I hear you! It all depends on the dealership and options you order. Dealerships are different across the board. Gibbs RV in Waco, TX gave me my tie downs because there was no negotiation. All final deals are different I imagine. I was right at $29,000 out the door but that could vary dealer to dealer.
      Hope this helps.
