    How smooth did it come out ?
    I used Vinyl Concrete Patcher on mine. It did a GREAT repair job, but the surface is rough. The bowl was originally smooth; the mold makes it that way.

      @BobbiJo  3 місяці тому

      My bird bath doesn't have a smooth finish. You can smooth this out but I wanted mine to have a rough surface.

    Looks great! Luna knocked off our bird bath top 2 years ago and we've been "winging" it - haha - with plant bases inside but not loving the look! How is this holding up? PS I just created a bird bath out of an old iron plant stand and a glass deep platter and put a solar floating fountain in it! Looking forward to your lampshade bird bath video!

    • @BobbiJo
      @BobbiJo  Рік тому +1

      I've posted the birdbath made out of a lamp video last month. It has a solar fountain too. This is holding up great. I have a hawk that has shown up a couple of times for a bath. Ill post a short of that this week. We took the video through a window so it isn't the best but it is cool watching the hawk cooling off. How do the birds like the glass platter? Thanks for stopping by.

      @@BobbiJo super cool! I’m going to check out the lampshade bird bath next! I left the straw legs on the solar floating fountain so they’re kind of like little perches. Plus, the weather is coming up high enough or they can grab some. I may put glass marbles in it as well, but not sure if I want to clean all that routinely!

    Those Cracks looks like the water froze causing cracks. Mine did the same exact thing in north west Florida.

    • @BobbiJo
      @BobbiJo  7 місяців тому

      Yes, that is what caused it. We had a long cold snap. Thanks for watching.

    This may sound like a stupid question, but if the sealant is safe for wildlife will it be safe for dogs? I have a old concrete fountain bowl that sits on the ground i want to seal, and my dogs will want to sit, swim and drink from it!

    • @BobbiJo
      @BobbiJo  3 місяці тому

      Not a stupid question. I found the sealant didn't help if I left water in it when the temps dropped below freezing. It cracked again over the winter from the cold temps. It usually doesn't get that cold here so I forget to remove the water. As far as safe for dogs, I would assume yes since it is safe for birds but I'm not 100% sure. Bobbi Jo always liked getting in my concrete birdbath when it was inside the fence. She loves anything with water. She never got sick from playing in it. I moved it outside the fence because she scared the birds away. 😂

    Thanks for your video it's great! Do I need to apply the tung oil? Or can I just use the waterproof cement alone?

    • @BobbiJo
      @BobbiJo  3 місяці тому

      @@misseldahere water proof cement works fine alone. I've got to remember not to leave water in it when we have freezing temps. That's what causes mine to crack. Even with the tung oil it still cracked over the winter. It isn't a big crack but I do need to repair it again before it chips away. This time I'm just using the cement.

    Why do you need to put a wooden spacer between the bowl and the bottom vase in the bird bath video? Is it because of the top of the bottom vase that was a lamp, has that pipe sticking up?

    • @BobbiJo
      @BobbiJo  2 місяці тому +1

      The spacer gives a larger area for the basin to stick to. It really depends on the lamp design and what type of basin is used. The pipe can be removed or sawed down where it doesn't stick up. I leave it sticking up a little because it gives the spacer a little extra stability. The basin sticks much better to wood than it does straight to the lamp. I've made several birdbaths from different style lamps. The basin came off after a few months on the one I didn't use a spacer on. So I repaired it with a spacer and it has been working great for over a year now. Thanks for stopping by.

    Hi! I put a layer of the hydra quickrete in my broken concrete birth bath yesterday! It's still dryiing. I feel like it may be too thin. Should I test it out with water tomorrow to see if I need another layer of concrete before I add the tung oil?

    • @BobbiJo
