- Today I have the amazing honor of being met with Marie Anello as we sit down and discuss her brilliant work in penning the story "Kingdom Kong"! A major thank you to Marie for taking the time out of her busy week for this interview, and especially for baring with my interviewing skills as this is the first time I have ever done anything like this before. It was a huge joy to talk shop on Kong, what inspired Marie up to this point, and how she went about tackling such a unique story! This was simply excellent 👏🏼👏🏼 I'm amazed you managed to get an explanation from her on why the battle with camazotz went the way it did (in terms of human assistance again) and to hear that she's a Kong fan as well
You certainly should do more interviews as such with people from the industry and legendary..maybe they'll answer some of our burning questions too

Ah thank you so much!!! Marie was absolutely amazing. She was so nice and understanding and her writing style absolutely fits these MV stories! I would love to see her return and start heading some stories like this again, especially in film!

I manage to talk to the various MV creative team members and get info but I’d like to actually get to talk to them in a professional manner… but I have HORRIBLE social anxiety .

Ah thank you so much! I’m no interviewer by any stretch of the imagination haha. I was def nervous at first, but as we went on I really warmed up to this convo! I have social anxiety as well but I kind of mask it with smiles and laughs and cracking jokes, and it’s really tough. But as long as you’re passionate about something it’s a GUARANTEE people will feed off that energy! It’ll show for sure. Plus dude you’re so damn smart! We’ve been hanging around this fandom for years and I’ve always known you to be super intelligent about what you talk about and how great your theories and speculation are. You can totally do it!
Rodan is awesome! I love Rodan, I do wish he’s had more time as a monster to really shine and they can totally make him work as a solo film and as a lead kaiju in a comic or story!

That’s very true, I personally just have to build confidence to talk to people, I’m really bad at socializing.

Would be awesome if he got his own movie, with the right set up he could carry a film.
@@LindenHS-Hillcraft you actually think Rodan could get his own solo film? Don’t get me wrong I would love a Rodan or Mothra solo movie but I don’t see how they could work. They just aren’t popular enough in America
This was a great listen and a welcome surprise. Loved the insight. Marie was fantastic.
I think it's funny how if certain key elements weren't in the story, certain events would play out differently. Like Kong needing help. This fight would go to Kong more easily if the humans weren't important to the story's theme. Which is cooperation.
Also, never thought about Camazotz's light sensitivity. Guess that *would* give Rodan the certified W. 😅

This interview gave me somewhat of a better understanding on why it went that way..it's not a term of Kong is weak at all, hell she even said he'll beat him if he fights solo, but it's merely an arc of co-operation. And of course experience.
So now I look at this battle with less criticism and more understanding, even if I don't fully like it

Humans always helping monsters win in the Monsterverse is definitely a way to get both plot lines to converge, but it was very nicely executed in this comic!
When it comes to Rodan v Camazotz, I was just talking about this with a group of mine but from my understanding, Camazotz was surrounded by light in the final battle what with being close to lightning, explosions, and jet trails. I think the reason Audrey was able to knock Camazotz out was because she was in close proximity to his eyes, and so the sudden burst of light from the sonic boom was able to blind Camazotz. So I think it’s proximity based. Rodan having the fire attacks like pinning Mothra and using his firestorm attack could totally work in this battle. I don’t think Camazotz would just die from light, but light definitely blinds him if it’s close to his eyes from what I’ve gathered after reading the comic and chatting with Marie. It seems like Rodan would be capable of blinding Camazotz when he gets up close and then he can start dishing out attacks like Kong did when Camazotz is downed. Mothra could also do the same if she actually uses her godrays in battle, but we never see her do so. But that’s just what I’ve gathered haha. Still such an awesome villain!
Makes sense, he’s a giant bat like creature who thrives in darkness.

Marie was just amazing and I’m so grateful to her and all of my viewers like you for being so patient and understanding with my nervousness as, again, this was my first time doing anything like this. Especially being able to sit down with someone I admire so deeply who made an incredible King Kong story! I’m pulling for her man, Kingdom Kong is such a special story and one of my favorite King Kong stories! Whether it’s another Kong story, Godzilla story, or even Rodan or Camazotz story, she’d KILL it!
@@KingKong19100 agreed! She's a very interesting, articulate and artistic person. I'd love for her to have a major hand in writing the supposed upcoming Kong sequel film, since it's so apparent how much she respects the character, and how well she did with him.
Hopefully Legendary sees her potential in writing more stories for Kong (or anything, really), she definitely deserves to go another round!

Honestly, I never considered Camazotz's light sensitivity. I appreciate Marie acknowledging that. Changed my whole perspective on it.
Yeah i always thought Camazotz would put up a good fight, but if Rodan ever got up close and used his firestorm attack to blind Camazotz it would blind him, giving Rodan enough time to lay a smack down on him and win. But Mothra didn’t seem to use her godrays in battle, so if she doesn’t do that then I don’t think she can beat Camazotz without utilizing his weakness to light. Just my two cents though and what I’ve gathered from talking to the ever-so-wonderful Marie and reading the comic!
@P I think Camazotz has more strength feats since he’s dropping Kong out of the air and taking Kong’s blows (Kong’s got some crazy strength feats), but Rodan has better durability feats like taking the weakened gravity beams from Ghidorah! This would be a sick battle though!
@P Mothra didn't take that beam though. She got one-shotted. I think Rodan is more durable.
@P By that logic we can say the Female Muto is durable enough to take the kiss of death before her head came off. She still died so that feat doesn't exactly hold up, same with Mothra.
Hopefully Marie Anello will write the Next TitanVerse film

Hi there, just stumbled across your channel and love your Kong/Godzilla content. Your re-writes are my favorite part of my channel; easily would've made the MonsterVerse more consistent & better, but alas that isn't to be--still live your version though! ;) And this interview was awesome by the way. Marie Anello Confirmed that Kong needs Human Help to Beat Camazots The only way Kong can beat Camazots Alone is if the Plot Demamds it (Plot Armor) but without Plot Kong can’t defeat Camazots in a Rematch of both Titan She states that Kong can stand a higher chance because he knows what Camazots can do now but still doesn’t state he’d win this also confirms that Versatility is very deadly against Kong
Actually Kong don't eat right since Ghidora's roar, the novel confirmed that, he was out of shape and exhausted against Camazots
Have u read the Kingdom Kong Comic? He was eating a Mire Squid just like normal in 2021 just hours prior to Camazotz arriving & the MV Novel is a different cannon to the MV Movie/Comics in general so it's an invalid statement when talking about the movies or comics
@@chillbluetoothjj688 Mire squid wasn't enough, the novel of GvK said that Kong was forcing himself to eat Skullcrawlers
U know the Novels are a different cannon to the Movies & Comics? There's too many plot contradictions if u take it all as same cannon
