Going back and rewatching KoTM, I realized that the military had no knowledge Godzilla was in the area when they launched the OD, the OD was meant for Ghidorah & Rodan, which more so solidified the OD being a good idea. Just right place, wrong time on Godzilla’s part haha
Here’s the thing: both Mechagodzilla and the Oxygen destroyer were incredibly advanced pieces of technology that have a lot of potential for both good and bad uses. Their existence alone isn’t evil since they are just tools or pieces of technology, just like how a hammer is a tool that could be used either in a good or bad way or something like social media can be used in both good ways and bad ways depending on the person who uses it. Mechagodzilla and the Oxygen destroyer are both from a militaristic standpoint, the most advanced and logical way to fight titans, but the way they were used in Kotm and GvK was by incompetence or misguided intentions. The big problem I have with all this is that The oxygen destroyer was just a quick cameo scene that felt totally wasted, no build up, no explanation or even ethical questions surrounding it, it just appeared outta now for the sake of plot convenience to get Godzilla out of the picture. Mechagodzilla on the other hand, does play a major role in GvK and at least had some build up and justification for why he’s in the movie, but from a continuity standpoint it didn’t make much sense for humanity to leap that far in technology since the MonsterVerse has many inconsistencies in its worldbuilding and narrative. Despite that, Mechagodzilla was still pretty badass and ruthless against both Godzilla and Kong, he gave them both a harder time than Ghidorah ever did in KOTM. Walter Simmons (CEO of apex cybernetics) and Ren Serizawa both have personal issues (whether it be losing their trust in Godzilla to keep the balance of nature while living in constant fear that titans can show up at any minute or having an estranged relationship with your father whom was more interested in studying Godzilla than the well being of his own son) which gave them that motivation to use Mechagodzilla in an “evil” way to defend humanity from Godzilla and the titans. In short, Mechagodzilla and the Oxygen destroyer were simply misunderstood, pieces of incredibly advanced, technological weapons that were just placed under misguided intentions by people with morally grey intentions, when they could be used to accomplish many good things, giving them the impression that they were evil weapons of mass destruction by everyone else.
If other countries around the world can build their own Mechagodzillas, why not got the extra mile and create their own designs for each mecha like in pacific rim. It would make each country’s mecha look unique
I don't think Walter Simmons had great intentions. His monologue seems to make it clear that he is someone who wants power over others, and that is his motivation for creating Mechagodzilla, to have power over Godzilla. He strings along Ren by manipulating his familial insecurities and hatred of monsters as well as manipulating Lind to keep putting Kong in dangerous situations. The movie has his introductory video framed as a threat where employees are not going anywhere, and the novelization indicates that he is responsible for putting a hit on Bernie's wife. Furthermore, Simmons is so reckless in achieving his goals; he keeps chasing crazy ideas that just seem to pay off until they don't anymore snd everything he cares about is destroyed. Godzilla's attacks for instance are not something he planned, nor Godzilla's drilling, Kong's finding of the axe. He is just able to spin these situations his way. (The ORCA-Z was cut from this version, so the implication is that Ghidorah's skull through the eyes is sending out the signal that stresses out Godzilla since Simmons later does not seem to understand why Godzilla is coming for them anyways). And even so, he forces Ren to pilot the machine anyways, very reckless once more. And if Mechagodzilla were primarily for defense, why would he rush it out so quickly to kill Godzilla. The conditions of his sacrifice pit are inhumane, the existence of his sacrifice pit shows that he enables the torture of animals and he uses dangerous skulls and untested energy that lead to thr destruction of a densely populated city. Even if his intentions were good, there is far too much villainy to ignore to call him the good guy (he controls Apex, but the assessment of Apex is also somehow less generous if you examine it as the organization. Armed guards pull their guns on intruders, even just Greenpeace. Maia leaves civilians including a child to die. Ren tortures animals. There is that one good armed guard that escorts Lind to safety, but he just makes the rest seem all the more reprehensible by comparison). Mechagodzilla could be used for good, but he also wouldn't really have to. Godzilla can use Hollow Earth portals to travel across the Earth very quickly, he will encounter or sense most threats before the humans do, and he is just all around more capable of defeating threats such as Ghidorah, maybe the MUTOs or Tiamat, all of whom could likely destroy a Mechagodzilla fairly easily.
The real reason why Godzilla fans view the Oxygen Destroyer with fear is because it didn't bring about the existence of a new titan, it made a demon. Destroyah's presence itself demands respect; it commands fear. I fear that modern audiences with take Monsterverse Destroyah too lightly, and not look at the beast in the same way as old-school fans see him. If anything, it's sad to think about.
Robots are not good or evil, only the people who make them tend to program them for those purposes. Mechagodzilla is a definitive example of that. Walter Simmons never anticipated that Ghidorah’s DNA would corrupt the mech’s programming, he just wanted to show the world that humans now had a means of fighting back against the Titans. Godzilla likely would never have come for Apex if he didn’t sense Ghidorah’s presence somewhere within their company.

Also it could give the possibility of the birth of Destroyah. (This is yet to be confirmed by Legendary)

Well once again, Apex has good intentions and a rock solid alibi. Humanity is going to always need a back up in case Godzilla isn't able to make it in time. And I'm sure if Apex knew it was the Ghidorah head that was directly causing Godzilla to rampage then they would try and find another way to power MG, as clearly Godzilla is costing Apex a lot of money and resources per attack. However, Apex's actions should remain unjustified as they wanted Godzilla gone despite him trying to protect us. The perfect way to frame him was by emitting signals that resembled Ghidorah, causing Godzilla to attack. Additionally, Ren Serizawa wanted to kill Godzilla because of how his father was obsessed with Godzilla, and also sacrificed himself to save him. In other words, Ren had daddy issues, a problem that should've been more addressed in the film.
I personally think if anything the military in the Monsterverse should invest into self-replicating nanomachines, or at least a titan sized equivalent. Kinda like the nanometal in the anime trilogy. They could easily overwhelm any titan, and they might even be able to repair damaged parts, so that slashing or stabbing weapons like Kong's axe or Behemoth's tusk would be rendered practically useless. If they wanted, they could even give the nanomachines the ability to inject OD into a target's bloodstream.
The ending and the sponsor bit took me out😭😭😭😭😭 I'd say thar Apex's intentions weren't evil but as the old saying goes "The road to hell is paved with good intentions." They are directly responsible for Godzilla's multiple rampages(unless there was actually only 2 and all those sticky notes labeled "Godzilla attack" were all bs). Alot of people died and alot of property was destroyed in the process. tbh after the first attack they should've taken a step back from the project and took a deeper look into their creation of mechagodzilla seeing as they are messing with the corpse of a creature that almost destroyed the planet. They really needed someone like Ian Malcolm with them to temper their constant "can we do this?" with a little "should we do this?". Although I'm pretty sure Ren was supposed to be that person. So is apex evil? Nope not at all but they are definitely not sinless. The perfect antagonist for this kind of plot imo although better writing could make them a little better. Also we probably wont see apex active again because of what I said above they'll be getting sued into the ground and maybe become an extension of monarch. But what if Behemmoth (as example) decides to destroy a complete city to make space for a new rain forest. It would harm humans, but help alot of endangered species. He maybe would continue, what would be the right choice? Or Godzilla is completly sick of humanity and wants to get rid of them or decrease the populations. Killing either of them would harm humanity aswell. But interesting topic.

Obviously, Apex as a concept is great and are unequivocally doing the right thing in the primary goal, allowing these monsters to be the top of the food chain is just BEGGING for a mass scale extinction of all humanity. Even if a billion people were killed as a consequence of Apex's actions, that's a billion deaths right now to avoid literally incomprehensible, uncountable amounts of death that are caused by the existence of Kaiju. Apex is objectively right; humanity *needs* to be the apex species to guarantee our survival. Problem is that the *people* at the top of Apex are individually assholes, who make stupid decisions such as seeking revenge on literal animals.
Here's the definitive answer to how Mechagodzilla can be rebuilt and can kill everything: Put lasers everywhere on him. Have lasers come out of his hands, chest, mouth, eyes, tail (Basically anywhere where it won't look weird). We saw what putting multiple lasers on him can do against Godzilla in the Heisei era before so why not take advantage of the fact you can make lasers and put like 20 on him to roast his enemies with.

Mechagodzilla wasn't evil Ghidorah just high jacked Apex's operation, because well he pay back against Godzilla. So if anything they should not have used the skull of Ghidorah but how they have known that? Ghidorah is almost like the headless horseman coming back from the dead to take revenge, and let's not forget that each of Ghidorah's heads had different personalities, and they probably share a relationship like siblings, so this skull is not getting revenge for its own death but it's also avenging its siblings, which is kinda of understandable. Here's the definitive answer to how Mechagodzilla can be rebuilt and can kill everything:
Put lasers everywhere on him. Have lasers come out of his hands, chest, mouth, eyes, tail (Basically anywhere where it won't look weird). We saw what putting multiple lasers on him can do against Godzilla in the Heisei era before so why not take advantage of the fact you can make lasers and put like 20 on him to roast his enemies with.

Mechagodzilla wasn't evil Ghidorah just high jacked Apex's operation, because well he pay back against Godzilla. So if anything they should not have used the skull of Ghidorah but how they have known that? Ghidorah is almost like the headless horseman coming back from the dead to take revenge, and let's not forget that each of Ghidorah's heads had different personalities, and they probably share a relationship like siblings, so this skull is not getting revenge for its own death but it's also avenging its siblings, which is kinda of understandable. But then again Ghidorah did try to take over earth so yeah Ghidorah had that coming. So Apex doesn't deserve as much blame I mean how the hell did they know Ghidorah was gonna come back like Michael Myers. But after I keep my eyes on it. Because God knows what else he can do when he's dead.

Storytelling is not easy especially when you want a large majority of your audience to be satisfied with what they receive. I'm not going to pull a Ryan Johnson if you know what I mean by if not at the moment that is not important.
